Horse should have a "fuel meter" thats filled by feeding it fruits and veggies. Maybe even add some new growable crops to go with it like hay or corn that can be used a fuel source for the horse.
@brian5087 If the overgrowth was from being long into the apocalypse wouldn't the main towns be overgrown too? You do know things are overgrown irl & there isn't an apocalypse 😂
@@theloniuspunk383 DayZ is one of the most poorly coded piles of junk ever made....Love the game, but it is an absolute mess of a game. Enfusion is just bad...using all the xml, json, and C files the way they do is downright ridiculous.
@@RapTapTap those are their way of making it easier for beginners to understand what theyre doing. I don't disagree that it's poorly done though, but if there was no xml json or cpp, hardly anybody would be able to make servers or mod.
@@Designful I'm honestly not sure if they fully intended for people to mod the game when they were making stand alone...Though you are 100% right about it being easier for beginners. JSON and XML is dead easy to understand.

i think he did a really good job on the mod, like the best non-dev animations i've seen. The rearing in the air, the reactions when getting hit by zombies and the swimming animations were surprising to see. Really cool. The only thing I could say is if he could detach the camera from the horse's gait. That stop and go motion of the camera while the horse is running is almost nauseating. Idk if it's possible, but maybe set the camera motion to a consistent speed that matches that of the horse instead of the camera being slaved to the horse? Idk if that makes sense or is even possible or not. Just trying to think about it logically.
Horses would naturally become the primary mode of transportation in a zombie apocalypse. The fact that they must be modded into DayZ underscores BIS's lack of foresight, effort, and genuine interest in the game's development. Instead, the company appears more focused on producing similar maps at full price to maximize profits. Bravo the modder - this looks great.
Suggestions: ability to feed the horse as it being a 'living creature' in the game, would be cool to have a feed/fuel option for it kinda like the stamina bar. Over time the horse would get hungry and need to be fed or return to the stable to be fed. Maybe if the food/fuel bar gets to low the horse will try to buck you off? So you gotta keep a 'friendship/bond' with it. Whistling it to come to you if its roaming like the dogs do would be nice. My real life horses run to me from across our 5 acre field when they hear my whistle lol Final suggestion: Stable animation. I noticed the horses just kinda stand there motionless when inside the stable. Maybe add a tail shake, and a head follow animation (head turns to face you) to give it some life?

And I truly believe the dayz dev team should try and work out a deal with amazing modders like hunter if modder is the right word hunter is a full blow private dev . His horse mod is in stage 1 as good as the cars if not better in stability sense . Hunter you keep it up man shit do us all a favor make a game your skills are dope

It's incredible what HunterZ has done ! He brute forced a military sim/survival engine to simulate a horse !!! BIS can't even simulate a car ! I guess there must be an option for server owners to make horses invulnerable for PvP servers ? And I wonder if HunterZ, or other modders will make a Horse Armour mod for it ? Maybe make the horse poop too, and you can use it to as manure, or to craft gunpowder ? And how long until someone makes a Wild West themed mod for DayZ !
Dude! I have been playing dayz since it was a mod on arma 2 WAY before standalone was out. I always thought it would be so cool to have a horse to ride in dayz since there is soooooooooo m uch running and ground to cover

Horses has to be considered as a cars, no more no less, so yes it's ok even on a PvP server. Just make them spawn a maximum number per restart and that's it.

How well do they traverse up steep hills and boulders? Can you put a Pack it for a Tent and a sleeping bag? Can you feed the horses Apples? Can they get Gas Masks? Can we fire weapons and swing melee weapons while riding a horse on land or swimming?
Would work well on PVP if you could fire from the back of the horse. Impressive first iterations though, will be cool to see if they improve on it over time.
Love the video! I was trying to test this mod using the DayZ Editor mod. However whenever I spawn in the horses using the tools I cannot "drive" them. I can ride them, injure them, apply the saddle and such. But when I get on it I cannot control it. Did you do anything different when you spawned them in? Also. Does the horse have a "walking speed" like how the player has a CTRL Walk speed?

Cowboys v Zombies anyone? Saddle bags? say 20 slot bags either side of the horse, Blanket roll and a saddle with a weapon attachment (for your trusty winchester of course!).

@Marks Could you point me in the right direction on how to enable 3PP view while on a horse for a 1PP server with the vehicle 3PP mod? HunterZ wasn't exactly helpful in that respect and I don't know where else to turn.

For some of us, like me, that don't know how to actually mod, it's nothing but a bunch of letters and special characters at this point. Maybe you could check it out sometime and get some insight? I appreciate your reply, by the way.
So I've been playing multiple servers that have the same author's dog mod, and unfortunately in at least three servers I have my dog die in each and every one of them within 2 hours time. Different reasons. Different styles of attack from different sources, same result. I know it's a video game animal but it's still broke my heart. I am however ecstatic about this and I'm looking forward to putting it in my servers and playing other servers that have it.
Definitely need something else other than a car in the vanilla servers map is huge which is nice but it’s time to add something else for transportation again devs we will pay
Looks like a great mod, but in 3rd person view it looks like a large man riding a very small horse. Personally I think it would look better if they made the horses a little larger
Whats it like on server performance? I know the dog mod can cause quite a bit of lag at times. Think I could use horses on a PvE/RP server with 200 mods?

sometimes they take a rifle away to work on it for months then it comes back and its literally the same as before #Sporter

camera is tied to player which moving together with horse spine, please keep in mind its not final product
