War noch keine 18 als ich 2004/05 in die Szene eintauchte und alles aufsaugte, was gespielt, gesagt, getan wurde. Auf irgendeiner Party kam ich mit einem Älteren, den ich nur flüchtig vom sehen beim Feiern kannte, ins Gespräch über Techno und wie das im Rheinland und in der Grenzregion Trier/Luxemburg/Lüttich seine vielen kleine Anfänge nahm. Über Berlin verlor er kein Wort, damals war Frankfurt/M der Goldstandard, woran sich die Leute eher orientierten. Nachdem ich meinte, erstmals die Nature zu besuchen, empfahl er mir Laurent Garnier eindringlich. Dessen Namen ich aber im Rausch verlor und in Erinnerung blieb nur sone Franzose und irgendwas mit Garnelen. E-lake in Echternach stand an, wo ich erstmals the man with the Red face hörte, auf Nachfrage wieder nur was mit Garnelen verstand. Die Bretter vorm Kopf wurden allmählich weniger, der Ärger über mich hingegen wuchs, weil Nature war vorbei. Sven Wittekind, Wochen zuvor beim Feiern kennengelernt, war seinerzeit Resident im Spot in Trier, damals weit über die Grenzen bekannter Technoclub, veröffentlichte gerade seine ersten Platten und meinte, hinterher mit zur After ins Spot zukommen, irgendeine Karotte oder so würde auflegen und mir sicher gut gefallen. Ob ich außerdem schon mal in Brüssel gewesen wäre und mir Fuse was sagen würde. Ahnungslos wie ich war, tat es das nicht. Ich hörte zu und lernte, erfuhr außerdem noch dass ebenda Laurent Garnier nächsten Monat die Teller drehen würde und er selbst mit jemandem dahin fahre, der noch einen freien Platz im Auto habe. Richtiges DJing, die Magie der Platten wie das handwerkliche Geschick und Können, verstand ich erst nach diesem Trip so wirklich, als der Franzose mir bekannte Platten drehte, die sich bei ihm ganz anders anhörten, zu einem eigenen Sound fusionierte und die erklingende Magie uns in Bewegung setzte.

You must understand that the this is a sort of annual meeting starting at 5am at night under thz dome and finishing around 11am/noon, part of a huge 6 stages festival starting from 8pm and finishing at 2pm the next day. So Garnier has 6 hours to celebrate with fans and can play whatever he wants, it is the time warp, litteraly
