"LEGO EV3 Sumo Bot Challenge Compilation"

- This video shows my classes' Sumo Bot Challenges from this year (2016). Their program was a 1) 2 second stop, 2) A spin, 3) their ultra sonic sensor, 4) a forward, 5) their color sensor to sense white, 6) a backup for a second or two, and then a loop at the end! Hope you enjoy!!

I just want to say thankyou because I used a part of this video in a video of one of my clients
The three main factors in the sumo bot challenge:
1. Mass
2. Traction
3. The program itself
Just pack it with as much stuff a spossible.
More thing stouching the ground will help with the traction _so stop using treads_ .
The robot only does what it's told, give it the wrong directions and it'll do the wrong thing.

Knoven treads are good if you have the read grippers though, if you don't it's better for wheels

That is awesome!
Biggest problem with most of them is that the wheels are on the front; when pushing all the weight gets transferred to the back.

Would anyone be kind enough to clarify the coding? My team is giving this a shot right now , but we don't think we have the coding quite right especially with the ultrasonic sensor.
Hey Aaron!!! I have the program for you.
1) 2 second stop
2) Spin ( I had my students have a different program that has their robot spinning each way depending on how the other robot is set up)
3) Ultrasonic set for 30 cm
4) Forward
5) Color Sensor set for white
6) Backwards for 1 or 1.5 seconds
7) Repeat
where is the instruction of the second sumo bot?

Would it be better to use crawler tracks?
What are the crawler tracks made out of? Rubber....might work. Plastic...your robot will slide all over the place.

Mr Hino, will I have more torque using large wheels or small wheels?
It's hard to know what type of wheels you're using but, if they have the same material, I'd go with the larger wheel.

I'm using the spike prime wheels.
My sumo bot is about 8 times the size of those...
Is that a problem?
Only if your competition had the paper size rule.

I have a bot that if there were a way to fight them I would want to fight whichever is the top in class.
I am in high school and the bot is top in state undefeated for Kentucky
