      ***** One good thing to do is close your open programs when you're done with them, especially when you're going to be leaving it idle for a period of time (ex. nighttime). Also, try to keep features you are not using like GPS and WiFi turned off, that keeps them from doing processes in the background and eating battery life. This goes for any cellular device.

    If I replace the motherboard, does the motherboard need to be the same storage as the previous motherboard? For example: I want to replace a 32 gb motherboard with a 16gb motherboard. Will it work?

    Just FIY, even though the clock speed of the cpu might be the same as some laptops, the ARM instruction set is more limited than the x64 one which makes it less powerful.

    Hey Author, i need to ur expert advice...i replaced my nexus 5's back cover. since the new one did not have the vibrators battery i had to take it from the old one and connect it to the new one...on removing i noticed that it was stuck to the cover by a glue
    Question: what glue to use to hold the battery to the cover?

  • @gokarter28
    @gokarter28 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    iPhones are generally quite modular I have discovered, the price being high may be because of build quality, iPhone parts are all able to be replaced with a bit of patience, and not too much glue. Compared to iPods which are just glued and soldered to cut costs.
    This phone is pretty impressive as to how it's assembled though!

    17:48 It's been five years and I'm only now replacing my Nexus 5, so this statement is spot on! (I'm only replacing it because it keeps refusing to connect to Wifi or mobile networks - reflowed it last month but it started happening again, time to move on)

      I meant to say that today's batteries are so much more powerful than just a few years ago, and you can see that by simply using your smartphone and seeing what power is needed to sustain all the apps running, wi-fi, gps, etc. You probably meant to say how batteries haven't kept pace with other technological advances implemented in phones. But that will change pretty soon.

  • @100-s9l
    @100-s9l 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Nexus 5 currently has a critical issue: recording videos in a quiet environment will produce a loud static noise in the audio.
    Evidence suggests every single phone has this issue, but not everyone has noticed yet. However find any videos on TH-cam from the Nexus 5 in a quiet room and the static is the only thing you can hear.
    People have already experimented enough to say that the echo cancelation software/drivers that they're using is the issue.
    Google has acknowledged this issue, yet continue to sell the phone to people without telling anyone.
    4.4.2 did not address this issue and there is currently no ETA for a fix.

      KeenWolfPaw I'm looking at a new unlocked LG G2 for $475.00 on Ebay. New Nexus 5 is 399.99 for what I would want, the 32 gig. So the gap is definitely closing...haven't made my choice which to buy yet, getting one of these phones next month though no matter what.

    • @bkim9289

      Google wanted to make a high end phone without going over 500 bucks. For the hardware your getting its a reasonable price. Of course some shortages are goona be made but its still up there

      Zamblot pretty much impossible to replace. it's a System on Chip, not just Chip. The whole motherboard is made to be replaced together, taking the chip of it is pretty much impossible. And the motherboard is only made in this form for nexus 5.

    faulty motherboard gave me just 4 months off of warranty, and a lot of troubles with the nexus 5 are caused by the funky main board that lg dishes out. check out the nexus support forum. its filled with complaints that all have the main board at fault, even the seemingly software issue ones. if you are lucky it would break within the warranty period, otherwise you will probably get screwed, like i did.

    They are joined by special guest iFixit CEO Kyle Wiens, who has taken apart Google's Nexus 5 smartphone for a thorough teardown analysis. They examine each of the phone's components, see how they're assembled, and discuss just how easy it would be to repair the Nexus 5 if any of its parts breaks down.

    The reason why the Nexus 4 and 5 display assemblies are so expensive is because there is low demand. If the only component that really ever breaks (the display) costs almost as much as the product, can the rating really be 8/10? I'd still say the iPhone 4/4S is the most repairable product. All the components are modular and cheap. The display is $25. Back cover is $5 and takes two seconds to replace. OEM battery is $6 and takes 10 seconds to replace. The iPhone 5 is better for replacing the display, but the display part costs $60.

      4gb isn't even enough for the operating system. I have a 32gb nexus 5 and the initial available space is 26.7gb, making the size of the os about 5.3gb. So a 16 gb would actually only be about 10gb, are you saying you don't have 10gbs of music?... I want a phone with a tb of storage space (that is the dream).

    I dont understand. This guy keeps talking about Apple and how they aren't straight forward in taking their devices apart. "The battery has too much glue" or "the mother doesnt come out easy". Does he not know that 1) Apple devices have a pull-tab to get the battery out, essentially making it more user friendly? And how is it not straight forward to take out an apple motherboard. Undo the connections and take out the screws, what is so un straight forward compared to this? Some people just want to be anti-apple to be anti-apple.

      Because apple is the kid that doesnt match the others, the one that is in the same classroom and refuses to bond with the rest.

      They have custom screws that they use. You have to buy special ones to open their devices. "User friendly" huh?

      Its entirely Philips once you get inside. they are different so dumb people cant easily just mess with their phones and then whine to apple that it doesnt work.

      plopbellie The guy said a lot easier than taking apart my phone... pulls out an iPhone (clearly not anti-Apple). I have no idea... but he seems to know what he's talking about.

    Nerd = is stupid but looks like geek
    Geek = is smart to the extreme about something
    Nerd was originally supposed to know a lot about everything.

    "Exactly the opposite of Apple's designs"
    Not at all true. Every iPhone since the 3G has been extremely modular and easy to repair.
