- Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, one of the solidifying forces behind PDP in recent times, has thrown his hat into the ring, regarding the party's presidential ticket for the 2023 elections.
Governor Wike has joined others like the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, and a host of others in announcing a bid to contest for PDP 2023 presidential ticket.

Individualising Political parties is the biggest problem in Nigeria and hence individuals think the party belong to them because of the financial contribution that have made to the party. Voters should focus on the effectiveness of a political party either as the ruling or opposition party. Voters should rate how they people they voted into office discharged their duties and met their campaign promises. All Governments around the world are run by ruling and opposition parties because they each focus on the promises they make to the voters.From all observation the opposition parties in Nigeria focus on criticism of the ruling party and forget promises made to the voters during campaign both on the state and national level. The country cry about insecurity and already the opposition party is using it as a talking point in the next elections. The insecurity in the nation is supposed to be everybody's concern. The Senate and the national assembly are fully represented by the two major parties in the country and therefore, input on how to address the insecurity in the country should not be one sided or political. To say that one party is responsible for the insecurity in the country is irresponsible and total nonsense. I hope when voters are about voting in the upcoming elections they will rate how elected officials in relationship to their respective parties met their commitments to the voters and not to themselves. It is about time the two major parties in the country identify who they are, their ideology and their firm commitment to meet their campaign promises regardless of whether in power or not. Parties should be responsible to their voters and not the other way round.
