This guy need to be in the hall of fame wall in the pawn shop.
Why...they run a business....he paid 4 bucks for it..if you were running a business would you pay 9500?
LEGEND! This guy will go down in history books for the way he negotiated.
Recently sold for $17,500 ............what people don't understand about extremely rare items like this book, is they appreciate quickly........rare items have no set value b/c there aren't alot of others ones on the market, value is whatever someone decides to pay for it
He got screwed. If he waited ten years he could've gotten $50,000. Or 1 bitcoin.
These are not actually negotiations...the negations happens before the filming!!! They just act it out
Hands down best negotiator that has gone up against those guys.
The woman that sold the Olympic jacket is pretty good too
Disagree. The best negotiator was the guy with the million dollar Hendrix guitar. He was the best I've seen.
"I'd like 10,000 but the least I'll take is 9,999" a true business man
This is how you negotiate.
This was actually a horrible negotiation by Corey. If you’re trying to drive the guy down, you don’t start by telling him you know a ton of collectors that would want his highly valued incredibly rare book. That was just stupid.
@@Smallvillefreak
That was exactly what I was thinking. When he said that I would have been imboldened to stick to my price even harder.
But I would never take an extremely rare item to a pawn shop to sell it to, especially one as great as a first edition of an amazing book like this one.
I would take it to an auction house like one of the one's listed below.
It being in one of those would bring out numerous 1st Edition book collectors that have serious money to spend who would compete in bidding for it and drive the price higher and higher, possibly even higher than what it was appraised at being worth.

Imagine being the guy who sold the book at the garage sale
I wanted $10 for it but he was such a good negotiator I sold it for $3
Imagine being the guy who sold it to the guy who sold it to the yard sale.
That Man Kept His Ground N Got His Price, hahah Said There’s 25% return
Recently sold for $17,500 ............what people don't understand about extremely rare items like this book, is they appreciate quickly........rare items have no set value b/c there aren't alot of others ones on the market, value is whatever someone decides to pay for it
Corey made a mistake telling him he was in a position to offload the book quickly. Rock wouldn’t have talked about his margin. He’d talk about the risk.
@@eddiemcdonald4720 Not a spoiler if you watch the video before going to the comments section. Anyone reading comments first is going to get spoiled.
This dude knows how to negotiate, unlike 99% of the muppets who come on this show
4:52: “It’s going to take me a while to sell” 5:07: “ I know a lot of book collectors”.

@@brucef310 its 1st edition verne And 20000 at that, that is always going to sell
The way he shoved the book over to him in the end ceiled the deal subconsciously 🔥
This guy is the best negotiator ever seen on this show!
I don't care about the price nor the book, I care about Rebecca Romney she's so HOT that Adam always selling anything just to see her :)
He missed one chance i would have taken "who else are you going to sell it to"... i would have replied "lets see if rebecca wants to buy it for her employer"
That little push of the book was next level. In poker terms, he played in position and won.
This dude knows how to negotiate,
The way he move the book towards Corey at the end was class 👏
Man this guy should be a professional hostage negotiator or something. Never seen someone out negotiate the pawn dudes like that
they knew with rarity they can mark the price higher than the estimated value
This customer held his ground tight
Way to go!
This is the only customer to actually walk out with close to what he shouldve had in cash. LEGEND!!
Viewers: Oh book..Yes Rebecca!
This was 10 years ago. She is 40 pounds heavier and pregnant with her second child. She doesn't look anywhere near this anymore.
hahar.....mate, that was EXACTLY what i thought. prefer her with her hair up though.
I'm surprised they paid almost what the guy wanted
@@venicebeachsportsnetwork6677 yeah he was ,plus I think they could get over 12,000 on that book , by the way Venice Beach is awesome, it's close to where we live in Tijuana , i love going there
@@ROGER2095 true , he would have paid 5000 and then would have done that congested laugh he has
This negotiation was the best , I think the person who will come to sell their items must watch this video😂
Corey "I need to prove I can handle things like this on my own." Goes to see Rebecca.
He was a LEGENDENDARY negotiator holy heck. He came down, but so minimally and was so firm with it! Huge props to that dude!
One of the best negotiators in the history of the show. Good work
Chum's brain cell count: 0
@@malcolmdcwwed i liked him way better before the raid on his house he was so cool and real
He isn't that dumb. I used to go to school with him. He acts like that on the show because he looks clueless
Neat how Corey, Rick and Chum know the history of everything in existence.
You kind of have to know something if you have a show on the history channel
Corey- “How many book collectors do you know? None”
Old Man- “How many beast negotiators do you know? Now one!”
This guy is my hero. He knew what he had, knew what he could get, and got it.
The best part is 2:59 and the look he gives at 3:05 meaning "I know what i'm talking about"
I love the episodes when rare books come into the shop!!!
That fella turned the table on Corey. Loved his stern poker face. Good for him for being tough!!
Hands down the best negotiator ever on this show.
If there's only 50 left of them they're gonna increase in value.
Jules Verne was a direct inspirer of the submarine. The man who invented the submarine was over the moon when he received a letter from Jules Verne congratulating him on his feat.
no it's not true submarines were invented before Jules Verne wrote about them. he adopted these inventions from east Asian countries and brought them over to a western audience
It be nice if the show ever did a special where we get to see how much they actually get for some of these items.
Yeah and if I come in the shop to buy a book, I'm going to research frist and see that he paid $9500 so I can laugh at him when his price tag says $15000
I could easily fall in love with Rebecca. Intelligence alone makes her the most beautiful woman in the world. As well as aesthetically enchanting and could literally make ones heart race with nothing more than a whisper. "Let's talk about rare..." Rebecca, you are the most rarest woman in the universe.
Bro shes mine stay away. Everyone is in love with rebecca and im not sure why. Intelligence beauty manorism im not sure but im in love as well/.
Oh, Pawn Stars dropped a book vid? Instant click 😍. Everybody did this don't lie! 🤣🤣
I used to work for a company that had me p/u some extremely rare books at what I think is the only very rare book shop in L.A., so I learned a little bit about them.
That same shop told me if I ever came across a rare book to come to them and they would help me to determine if I should auction it off or take another route.
The rare book people I have met (Sellers and Buyers) have all been very pleasant people to deal with.
KEPT his poker face , and that finally PUSH AND LOOK sealed with a handshake . Legend Indeed
Best negotiator I’ve seen in The Pawn Stars séries so far. 👏🏼👏🏼
Haha Corey is funny he wasn't expecting the price to go that high bt Corey really wanted that book 😂
It’s a rare and satisfying moment when the seller negotiates and gets the best deal. Well done
yay Rebecca is here
Chun is amazed by the dudes negotiation skills 5:29
I like how Corey negotiates with people. Always straight to the point + facts (Ex: Who are you gonna sell it to?).
Rare Jules Verne first edition + getting to go to Rebecca's shop + Rebecca = Pawn Stars heaven!!!!
Perfect negotiation on the seller's side, 10/10, good for him!
When i see books my heart jumps 'coz i know Rebecca's not that far behind. 📖♥️🇵🇭
Now that's what i love in customers.
Good job negotiating. Pawnstars needs to have a hall of fame of negotiators and this guy in the top 3.
He was like I can speak percentages if you want to speak percentages😂🤣
Every 3 -4 episodes the u tube team at pawn atars puts a rebecca episode to keep people interested
Ugh!! Who cares about rare first edition OR not.... Glimpse of HER is priceless....
-That's why you came to me.
-Yes to sell at MY price.
Awesome!! :D
That guy's a very good negotiator honestly
he stuck with his gut taking 500 off and being on TV is worth it in my opinion
Pro Tip: put Rebecca's name in title, quadruple your hits!
Knowing Rick would go like 7k at max..
Next video: Rick's reaction to this deal back in the shop xdd
I'd like to see Rick's reaction after the auction of this book. It was estimated to sell for $10-15k. It had 1 bid and sold for $10,000. They lost money.
‘Ok so im gonna call in rebecca’
everyone liked that
I like the negotiation on this one. Solid on both ends
That was the face of a true negotiator. He could sell ice to an eskimo.
Nope, it wasn't. It's the face of somebody who really wants to sell it at the highest price. Knowing also the potential buyer is more than interested
Ima say this. When he said my lowest would be 9,999 I wanted him to lose big time. It was just unreasonable. Then I laughed when he went to 9500 thinking no way Corey would go for it. I gotta say the old man stuck with his price and got it. Much respect
"20,000 Leagues was the birth of science fiction"
Mary Shelley: "Am I a joke to you"
You got to love it when people are passionate about their work and they're nerds about it.
Big respect for this man, don’t let them push you around when the guy says “I gotta make more than two grand” funny how they never want to hear your sob story before they lowball you anyway and then complain about a measly 20% return on what could be a quick and easy sale since, again, as Corey tactlessly pointed out, he knows ‘lots’ of book collectors. Smart enough of the seller to come down to 9500 at least to avoid a refusal out of pride or spite alone, though.
I love how Corey becomes more like his father everyday with all his knowledge ❤
However much this show is staged/fake and purely for entertainment, apparently the truth about Corey is he apparently is fairly high IQ and surprisingly self-educated.
This is a master class on how to negotiate and not settle for less than what an item is worth!!!
I did NOT expect Cory to lay down 9.5k. That was a hard bargain and the gentleman should be very satisfied.
Love to see a seller who could negotiate and got a fair price!
I’m here for Rebecca
"I want 10,000 but I'll 9,999." 😂😂
One of my favourite negotiations yet!
Corey just wanted to see Rebecca.
Enough of excuses, as if he needed to prove smth xdd
You could bring in a Harlequin Romance novel and Corey would want to bring it to Rebecca. (Who wouldn't!?)
2:22 You're welcome.
Best negotiation ever in pawn stars history!
That guy knew what he wanted, how to negotiate and he really KNEW his numbers/math(25% return 😊). Corey couldn't compete or argue with that.haha
Legend! He knew they wanted that book
Pawn stars 101, book = rebecca
This sir should be hired to work at the pawn store. Best negotiator ever.
Corey usually expects to sell his purchases at 100% return. This dude would not be denied.
This is why I go to Goodwill and garage sales. Or, used to, until COVID killed that market.
Bruce Frausto There are no yard sales these days, I’ve looked.
@@c.w.simpsonproductions1230 I dont know where you live but here in Arizona there are a ton every weekend. Estate sales too.
There's still yard sales where I live (SF Bay Area). The go-to place to look is on Craig's list. Or that's the best I've found. Look up the sales, get a map and plan your route. I haven't gone to as many sales since the plague came around.
If I ever have to do a deal with Rick, THIS is a buddy of mine. ;)
Look on Corey face is priceless after giving up to the seller !!
"Why can't you do 9" lmao this guy was a hardass, love it
Rebecca must be dating Cyclops and showing him it's ok to have one eye.
Greetings. It is with great pleasure that I learned a lot from the information that is presented in all the videos that I follow closely and with unparalleled enthusiasm. I wish you success and progress in your work.
Props old man. Legend has it , he also negotiated Mr Browns friendship & also got a deal from Barbra .
I’m a simple guy. If I see a book, I’m clicking for Rebecca.
This is one of the best clips I have seen. Beautiful Deal...
This guy and the guy that sold rick the Thomas Jefferson Treaty will go down as the toughest negotiators in pawn stars history lmaoo
Maybe one of the best negotiators ever on this show. Makes me wonder what he does for a living.....
Looked like a "problem" to me from the look on his face when Corey said it.
Chum:for a book? Every time haha,love that guy 😁
The best seller ever. Good negotiation 🔥
