This is a very experimental song and album from these guys. Seeing them go from thrash hcore metal to prog over the last 15 years is something to look at. The maturity, the production value, and the fact they can do replicate live is great. Brooks coming on board as a permanent member after Mike Portnoy was for me a huge deal. (Loved Brooks in Bad Religion and Vandals). The video production for this song is very Tool inspired from their stop motion videos. The harmonies, arrangements, and tones stick out for me on this. 10/10
"The Stage" by them was another great composition by them. A relatively newer track (2016) that really made me fall in love with this band. Would definitely recommend!

This new song has a progressive and post-industrial sounds which are not their signature that they built during their peak in the late 00's and early 10's. I had a hard time in the first listening because I was expecting that signature but then it started to grow on me and now I'm considering as one of their best songs.
Brooks Wackerman is their current drummer and he is ridiculously good. The part you mention as hi hats is actually two ride symbols being played in turn. It is a masterpiece.

Avenged Sevenfold is known for constantly pushing the boundaries of musical production and they genre bend a lot, sometimes switching genres entirely. Definitely a rabbit hole to go down, especially their work from the self titled album and the Nightmare album.
In the Metal community.. People just seem to hate the bands that become successful commercially. That's all. They used to label this band as "Melodic Metal" as an insult.. Now, I think it defines them well. This band introduced me to metal, not my favourite band anymore but always have respect for them.
Their sound has evolved so much over their 20+ years… you can’t go album to album with expectations, because they throw away the blueprint once they finish writing it. Great band, amazing live and definitely keep you on your toes.
You guys should check out Trivium, has lots of Thrash influences and have great songs. Its Metalcore, but they developed their own sound nowdays, just like Avenged Sevenfold. You should check out: Down from the Sky, Betrayer, Like a Sword over Damocles, Kirisute Gomen, Bending the Arc to Fear, Becoming the Dragon. i can go on and on haha

Save “ a little piece of heaven” for last. Beautiful piece of art but I’ve seen reactors stop listening to them bc it’s really dark. But I know if you listen to more of them you’ll most likely love it as we do.
Their older stuff is better than this. save me from their nightmare album isn”their opus” Not ready to die is hard core grove metal. Desecrate through Reverence is one of my favorite songs. And A little piece of heaven is a must listen
So if you are wondering why the lead vocalist (m. Shadows) sounds kind of soft (if you end up going back to his earlier work you would notice atleast) it’s because Matt has blown his voice out TWICE and had vocal surgery. In my honest opinion he shouldn’t even be singing rock anymore. During the stage tour he took horrible care of his voice and was ordered vocal rest for 6 MONTHS. He sounds really good for someone who has lost their voice on such a severe level multiple times and it amazes me he can even speak still but he will never be able to do his older stuff live with the same intensity he used to. Such a sad thing that could’ve been prevented
I highly recommend something off of their album City of Evil. Bat County, Trashed and Scattered, Strength of The World. Or thier album Nightmare. So good. Honestly, you gotta listen to more of them, you won't regret it.
Dope reaction. I'd recommend you react to some of their hits too like Nightmare, Buried Alive and So Far Away to get accustomed with their music. Also, try to edit the audio a litlle better. You sound a little too soft compared to the music video. Good luck!
I liked a couple early songs then really got into them with Bat Country album. They were heavily influenced by Metallica once Shadows had throat surgery and couldn’t scream like he used to. Hail to the King album sounds a lot like Metallica. I did not like their last album but I like this!
The band started off heavy metalcore with all screams almost , then regular metalcore with screams , then went more of the direction of regular metal/hard rock until recently they have a new sound
