@Paul Eaststar that is the most racist and dumb shit I’ve ever heard, you blame white people of today for atrocities committed hundreds of years ago and say 90% of white people today would have went along with it? We had nothing to do with what people of that time did and most of us find genocide disgusting. The Caucasian race is a wide variety of nationalities, white people were victims just as much as minorities literally 75 years ago 18 million whites were murdered by the nazis in Europe and 20 million Russians were starved by Stalin. And most of Eastern Europe was oppressed because of the ussr’s evil communism. Are you just gonna ignore that? stop blaming an entire group of people just because they happen to be white. It’s asshole individuals who committed these atrocities not the entire white race I
This is really coming to the fore in Canada right now, with the discovery of mass graves of children on the grounds of former residential schools. Hopefully, we can all face these horrible truths and find some reconciliation with our First Nations.
Yes. Both our nations owe these remaining survivors HUGE sums in reparations and land redistribution. This will only come from a TRUE Truth and Reconciliation Committee in both countries. But for that we need actual moral people to reach high levels in government- a virtually impossible feat, at least here in the US.
I remember being taught, in elementary school, that the story of "Thanksgiving" happened just the way that American Mythology would have us believe. ... Yeah, the Indians saved the settlers from starvation and imminent destruction, and as a show of gratitude, the Pilgrims/Puritans wiped the Indians off the face of the Earth. SMH
That is not true Indians exist and can speak for themselves. They know that Indians also killed and abused other tribes and the prefer to live in the present. All the tribes I know celibrate Thanksgiving and they do not race bait.Whites like to use American Indians to make them feel superior.
@@titussnyder113 but the pilgrims WERE ungrateful and DID turn around and slaughter the Natives shortly after... also, I’m accordance... the first European invaders who “settled” on the east coast of the America’s were planting but the soil here being different and how they were planting was wrong and a Native American man saw this and showed them how to plant correctly so that their agriculture would grow... the pilgrims would have starved to death if the man hadn’t have helped them.

European cultures are not the standard for human value. It pisses me off to hear the reach for validation of native way of life by drawing on similarity to europe's agriculture, cities or various other aspects. If people live in trees like birds it is a valuable way of life every bit as valid as living in cities and in terms of sustainibility much more valid.
This! This is exactly what I was going to comment. It surprised me to hear her talk about the agriculture & civilization in the beginning of the video as if it was a good thing. Its news to me to hear about the agriculture existing in the Eastern part of the U.S., although I’d heard that there were civilizations there. As I see it, the more “civilized” a culture is, the more toxic, unequal, slavery-based and warlike it is. There is an article by Peter Gray in Psychology Today called “How Hunter-Gatherers Maintained Their Egalitarian Ways.” He explains that true hunter-gatherers have consistently been found to be/have been peaceful, non-hierarchical, and not warlike. But any group that moved to agriculture became more violent and I assume less sustainable too. I feel the fundamental mistake is viewing “civilization” and agriculture as a good thing. To me, they represent cancer-the destruction of social health and the Earth. I was wondering if anyone thought the same. Thank you for your comment!
@@penyarol83 Thanks! People most often don’t look at the true impact of agriculture on the ecology. Agriculture drives a great diversity of wild plants and animals into exile and extinction down to the vast number of organisms in the very soil.

its amazing and disturbing to see how a violent society fetishes its victims in culture, movies, sports etc. same kind of symbolism and abhorring use of tribal people is seen in India.
The Creator always saves a remnant of his people that's why they weren't all killed. The author of the Wizard of Oz wrote an editorial though and proposed just that, killing every last Indian with hid reasoning; they won't ever forget what we did to them and they will tell their children and pass it along and it will follow us forever. And the white people didn't sneak up on the Native people they knew they were coming, the Wasichu. The Pilgrims claimed Manifest Destiny, the Bible said it a different way, and behold a pale horse and his rider was death and hell followed with him. You don't believe it's with you huh? Of course not. Death had come from the beginning of the written tradition and the white people suppose that tradition is more important than the oral tradition of story telling but let's be honest just because you can read it doesn't make you the storyteller and if you're not the storyteller all you have is an opinion of what you think it means. So the white man came to conquer carrying his book he didn't know how to read and supposed in his hand it was a weapon not realizing he carried the testimony of his own guilt as he assumed the role of Cain who murdered his brother of the Earth and became cursed while it followed him like a ghost he didn't recognize. Even the wind whispered words that scared him, wave follows wave tribe follows tribe nation follows nation it's the order of Nature and regret is useless. Man didn't weave the web of life he's just a strand in it whatever he does to the web he does to himself. The white man cannot be exempt from the common destiny. We may be brothers after all we shall see. And I saw the white soldiers falling off their horses head first into the Indian camp like when a baby is born. You were cast down son of the morning star that's why our women poked your eardrums with a bone awl after you died, so you would hear better in the next world. Take a look around you there's nowhere for you to run. Defiant till the end destroying the web and can't see its destroying you back. The drum beat grows stronger and the ancestors voices are singing in unison, we won't let you destroy the Earth it doesnt belong to you.....
Cain ... I like your reference. Vatican curia IS Cain! They have the "code of Cana'an/canon law"! Sleeper! Then there is the issue of the white race v the white tribe. Genesis 36; the Three Great Religions; JewDayIsm, Churchianity and Muslimism.

We need a TRUE comprehensive non-Whyte history to be taught in American schools. More in-depth Black history, including CRT (which ofc the bigoted Right is enjoying making into their latest football rn) but also a FULL history of all Native cultures here in North America. I remember a fair bit of detail being taught in my history class about the Spanish conquest of South and Central America but interestingly enough not nearly enough about the European takeover of the US and Canadian regions.
Give us our country back - I heard in Charlottesville - no comments needed I suppose - when u see the alt right, the christian right, populism, globalisation, american foreign policy and the american aggressive military build up hand in hand with the dehumanisation of people and states far away from Washington you must not only be concerned - you must react and act
Excellent knowledge you consistently present. I, for one, think the silly video gimmicks and graphics are intrusive and unnecessary. Images don't need to flash, pan, and zoom.
Native Americans had some issues with Eskimos and Aleuts too but unlike the Europeans and the half European and half Ameridian Mestizos also known as Metis also known as Alaskan Creoles also known as Mixed Bloods the Eskimos And Aleuts did not kill The Amerindians in large numbers nor oppress them to the same level that Euros And Meatizos did so yeah and Native Americans had some mostly positive dealings with Polynesians too
Clams from the past that all indigenous people are savages and recent claims they all lived in some paradise void of violence are both equally incorrect
There were Indians who built cities near the Mississippi around 1200 years ago. There is no evidence any of them lived long enough to encounter a European. They were already dead before the Europeans even thought about a boat.
I see the Spanish Black myth is in full effect when this video is supposed to talk about the us empires genocide of the native americans. Spanish were saints. Ut was the english but especially the americans who were the worst genociders and slave holders
Completely false. The Spanish and Portuguese were responsible for the worst part of the indigenous population decline before the British, French, and Dutch even started staking out colonies in the North, let alone before there was an independent US.
I'm glad there are leftists like this Abby chick who is able to dig up the graves of old, dead, almost forgotten hatreds and breathe life back into them.
Lol but the injustices and legacies of these aggressions lives on every day and Native resistance to US govt brutality and ongoing land theft and resource theft is as important as ever. The survivors of all of this have to live with the consequences that it's left on themselves, their land and their community. They don't have the luxury of just forgetting or just moving on, and they are STILL waiting for their justice and their humanity to be fully acknowledged by the US GOVT.
@@jellybutterpeanut1 We should never forget what was done to them and what was taken violently stolen. As someone of East Indian descent, I have deep sympathy for modern Native Americans. A community united by clinging to ancient hatreds, no matter how justified those hatreds are, cannot progress.
Word ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️ It’s actually the opposite. Europe (among other places) has represented toxicity for centuries. The more civilized a culture is, the worse off it actually is; the sicker & more dysfunctional (more cancerous) in its soul, values & actions.
Some years ago I came upon an interview with (by then already deceased) John Wayne, an actor whose appeal remains a mystery to myself, in which he claimed to "not have felt guilty in the least for 'taking this magnificent land' from the indigenous people, who 'didn't deserve it ' (the land and all it had to offer).
I was aware that plantation economics and the plantation system began in Ireland and was a continuation of the Anglo-Saxon (German) invasion that would have such dreaded consequences for the planet. That head hunting began there is news but not surprising. You have to go deep into European history to see that violence and killing was the only constant resulting in two world wars. My question is why have the Irish (Scots and Irish Catholics) so thoroughly identified with the oppressors instead of seeking common cause with the oppressed?
Kamal Shariff ......a whole lot of Irish DO find common cause with the oppressed. History is full of Irish soldiers fighting alongside all kinds of peoples and races against the Colonial forces, be they British or French or Spanish. It may also be part of the reason the Irish are so welcoming of other races and people. They subconsciously identify with the plight of so many. Head hunting, scalping, suppression of language, suppression of religion, suppression of culture all began to be refined in Ireland. The Irish were enslaved alongside the African in the Caribbean and treated equally, if not more harshly, by all historic accounts.
Why do you say the Irish thoroughly identify with the oppressors rather than finding common cause with the oppressed? I think you’ll find the Irish rebel spirit popping up in many places if you pay attention. Irish sentiment, from regular citizens to government, tends to side with the Palestinians e.g. Also look up the St. Patrick Battalion in Mexico. But I think it’s hard for cultures to resist becoming colonized under the brute force of such a powerful entity oppressing them. I agree that they, as well as the whole world now, need to find their way back to their wild & free roots. We all need to get back to our indigeneity, just for some it’s more deeply buried under layers & layers of colonization/civilization than for others.
@@penyarol83 Because it's a fact! Police departments all over America. The rioters who stoned busses with Black children all in Boston. The Irish Scots who participated in the Civil War. The Irish (Scots who were the preeminent slaveholders in the South. Name me one movement in which the Irish aligned themselves with Black people in America. Just one.
She is wrong saying there was no legal protection for indigenous people. There were many Spanish laws. Real Provisión 1503, Leyes de Burgos 1512, Leyes de Indias 1542. Many Spanish conquerors were sentenced. Thanks to this laws, most of people in Hispanic America are still full or partial Native American
An apology to the native people of America, when i think of what was done to such beautiful race of people i am ashamed to be a white Englishman. This was all done in the name of god and the bible makes it even more frightful when the real gnostic jesus taught a spirituality that was far more like the native American religion than what we are told by the bible
Very true about what Jesus’s teachings were really like. As I see it, civilization and agriculture are/represent the problem; the more civilized a culture, the more toxic, hierarchical, slavery-based & warlike it is (and unsustainable). Basically civilization is like societal cancer in many respects. See Peter Grey’s article in Psychology a Today: “How Hunter-Gatherers Maintained Their Egalitarian Ways”
Genocide is the attempted destruction of a people, usually defined as an ethnic, national, racial, or religious group. Raphael Lemkin coined the term in 1944, combining the Greek word γένος with the Latin suffix -caedo. 1944
Actually goes back to Judaism, which is the basis of the other two (later) Abrahamic "religions", and the most sadistic - look up Amalek - of the three.

Kyle Prosper actually most people could care less. He was English and at that time the English controlled everyone. His only real claim to fame was that he was connected to the rich and the Crown. He didn't actually do anything remarkable that couldn't have been done by anyone else. Having said that I have a huge problem with tearing down statues just to be politically correct. In the early period of contact this area was governed by the Peace and Friendship Treaty and of all treaties this was the best and beneficial to all. I'm not going to allow people to generalize about the history of any area especially because Canada didn't have the same history as the US. Russell Means and other native activists and historians are probably correct that the reason for the American Revolution was the Royal Proclamation of 1763 which is still the basis of many treaties being renegotiated today.

It’s asshole individuals who committed these atrocities not the entire white race

THANK YOU MRS. ROXANNE DUNBAR-ORTIZ FOR ALL THIS INFORMATION !!!
On Thanksgiving I give thanks to Abby Martin and Empire Files.
+Joe Smith You just may have missed the point entirely.
Carlos Miguel
How so?
+Carla Coco I agree. Great video.
SMH
The pilgrims were in peace with the indians you idiot.
Big G Haywood ...yes and they did it on the of Catholicism.
@@melissafreeman7416 That's a very nice story. Who was the Native American man who taught the settlers how to plant correctly and saved the pilgrims from starving to death?
I knew of alot of the history she describes but it is never really anyalized in History courses.
Very needed Journalism Abby if we are around in a century you will be remembered.

Our country is seeped deep in death and destruction. It's horrific and disgusting to me. What a fucking brutal and gruesome history. Thank you, Abby.
According to the yearly 'Black Almanac' (a Black source), 95% of the kidnapped West Africans were sold into slavery in Latin America! Why is it that you're ONLY concerned with what occurred in the United States?
Abby you are a idol! If i hade a daughter i would be so proud if she would be even a little bit like you. Thank you for the great work and great content. May God bless your soul and protect you at any time.
I'm ashamed of what my ancestors did to other human beings, oh an we seem to still be doing it.
I was lucky enough to attend one of Roxanne's lectures and to have her autograph my copy of her book.
Who were the real barbarians?
Yep. So much projection - been going on a long time in certain cultures.
@@davidcanatella4279 so true. We demand that the Earth will only grow ONE thing in a designated area of land, what WE demand that it grows. We exclude & chase/stamp out everything else. We place nature under our thumb. That whole philosophy is about domination, slavery & separation. The effects of trauma on the human mind

There never was a "Palestine".
Motor City Man Listen 👂! Palastine was inhabited by arabs since 637! Since than it was in possession of Muslim hands. Was it called palastine? It depends when in time. Under Ottoman rule (400 years) it was called Palastine. That’s what counts. Now you know that from 637 to 1940 with a short break of the crusades palastine was in muslim hands. Dunno what you don’t understand. Break up the numbers and see how many years arabs lived there.

its amazing and disturbing to see how a violent society fetishes its victims in culture, movies, sports etc. same kind of symbolism and abhorring use of tribal people is seen in India.
What are you talking about? In the media you never see anything negative about Indians.
Abby Martin is real hero.
What a legend Abby is
Abby is Awesome! !
Utter nonsense, both of you
Jared Beckham yah that'll show them! Utter Nonsense lol! HAHAHAHA what does that even mean as a response to that LONG soliloquy of well written content? Hey, it's always been about wealth and greed. Of course, ignorance is needed in order to make it all work.
The idea that the name red skin was due to scalping and leaving the body bloody. Now that is truly some European cruelty.
"Soldiers were sending all sorts of body parts back to their relatives"
Are we talking about humans here?
Yes it was common, the body parts were gifts
11-18-2021, that was pretty damn good. Thanks for exposing their evil acts.
This taught me alot.. Dope episode.
My favorite author and professor on this particular subject.
Why did it take me so long to find anything on this atrocity
Give us our country back - I heard in Charlottesville - no comments needed I suppose - when u see the alt right, the christian right, populism, globalisation, american foreign policy and the american aggressive military build up hand in hand with the dehumanisation of people and states far away from Washington you must not only be concerned - you must react and act
Code of canon law.
Code of Cana'an law.

Thank you for this education
There were Indians who built cities near the Mississippi around 1200 years ago. There is no evidence any of them lived long enough to encounter a European. They were already dead before the Europeans even thought about a boat.
The civilization imploded? That’s what usually happens to civilizations - they aren’t sustainable.
You are doing a great jobs Abby.
I am New Mexican and I know what happened.
This was all done in the name of Jesus and his mother the so called virgin Mary.
On the surface and as an excuse, while actually motivated by the Supreme Being of the "Western Man", whose name is Avarice.
Abby's hot; just saying.
Old, dead, almost forgotten hatreds? Lol. How little you understand. Traumas don’t go away by ignoring them.
Pathetic panderer. These people were GENOCIDED, I refuse to forget
@@jellybutterpeanut1 We should never forget what was done to them and what was taken violently stolen. As someone of East Indian descent, I have deep sympathy for modern Native Americans. A community united by clinging to ancient hatreds, no matter how justified those hatreds are, cannot progress.

Wow what an interview
Lets not fall into the trap of making human valve equivalant to european standards.
Word ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️ It’s actually the opposite. Europe (among other places) has represented toxicity for centuries. The more civilized a culture is, the worse off it actually is; the sicker & more dysfunctional (more cancerous) in its soul, values & actions.
Why is she calling Native Americans, Indians? Assuming she is an expert, shouldn't she know the difference?
Some years ago I came upon an interview with (by then already deceased) John Wayne, an actor whose appeal remains a mystery to myself, in which he claimed to "not have felt guilty in the least for 'taking this magnificent land' from the indigenous people, who 'didn't deserve it ' (the land and all it had to offer).
America needs their own version of the truth and reconciliation commission
Just one.
Hola! Pueden traducir al castellano (subtítulos en castellano).
All committed by believers of the religion of piece Christianity. I always wonder if Arabs were Christians, would Afro-Eurasia still be alive today?
