More dangerous, but the benefit is less work. If you can trigger a full collapse, then just let the water do the rest of the work. :)
The most important part of that is the water taking the sticks and other debris down river. When you're digging out a dam, if you just leave the sticks on the edge where the dam was, the beaver just goes..."oh hey, let's build another! Thanks for the sticks!"

they are satisfying to watch, but a genuine question, why do you destroy them? i've seen many videos where they try to introduce beavors to build such dams ?
Just depends on what the land needs. If it’s wet land revitalization, then beaver ponds are a huge benefit. However, if a beaver decides to damn up the stream beside your house and the resulting pond floods your yard and neighbors basement, probably not quite the big benefit. There’s huge tracts of standing timber that have drowned from beaver ponds where I live. Beaver builds a lodge to live in. Dams a stream to flood the area to make it easier and safer to get food to the lodge. The resulting pond floods and eventually drowns the nearby trees causing said beaver to run out of food. The industrious beaver decides that’s no bueno abandons the lodge to relocate to an area with abundant food. Over time the damn, not being actively cared for by Herr beaver, falls into disrepair and collapses and drains the areas and life returns. In some areas in extremely beneficial, in others not so much.
@@jpollard1984 We have an area near here like that. They will damn it up, eat the area out and movie away. The dam will last a few years then collapse. Time passes and the return to dam it up again. Just had one collapse a month or so ago. Give em a few years and the will be back

Try a polarizing filter on your cameras. Properly placed, with the filters adjusted to minimize glare off the water, you might be able to see the fish in there.
