You're right; the Huskies looked woefully unprepared. The missed tackles, including in the open field, were absolutely brutal. You have to be able wrap guys up and bring them down. I feel like the offense will definitely improve, but this team needs to come together quickly and playing FCS Merrimack at home is the perfect opportunity.
First couple weeks, the tackling is going to be bad all over the country. But UConn took it to a new level. If Evers doesn’t look DOMINANT vs Merrimack it’s gotta be on to the next. Cannot waste reps on a stiff. Get a look at the freshman Welliver.

I was at this game and it was a long one!. Uconn could not execute well with passing overall. #1 proved he can catch and get to the ball. The play calling wasn't good as well. They also ran the UConn QB too much and he got hurt. The Defense ran this bend don't break style, per Coach Mora and that never wins games. If they want to compete in the Big 12, the entire coaching staff needs to be upgraded and the NIL money needs to exceed 12m vs. 3.5m
I think one step at a time, even if an invite is extended, the football program has to field competitive football and then we can amp up NIL, and other investements.

UConn and Connecticut are not designed for Division I football. The first few years of success at the Rent were fun, but an aberration. Just because you do basketball well, doesn’t mean you do football well. New England is not a D1 football region. Not part of the culture. There’s only so many D1 players out there and UConn isn’t getting any of them. A nice, smaller on-campus stadium like the soccer/baseball stadium and an FCS program is best if cost-effective. If not, UConn needs to think Division 2, 3 or, even, no football. No power conference wants a program that is this bad. Period. I admit, I was caught up in the excitement of Edsall’s first tenure, but that was the anomaly, not the putrid football we’ve seen since he left. UConn trying to be D1 in football is akin to Eastern Connecticut State University trying to be D1 in basketball. It simply doesn’t work.

People said the same exact thing about UConn being in the Big East in the mid 1980's. It seemed like a joke for UConn to be in the same conference as Georgetown, and even Villanova and St. John's. No one thought we had a prayer of ever winning the Big East, let alone reaching a Final Four or winning an NC. Yet, look at how the next 40 years played out. Imagine if we'd given in to the nay-sayers and backed off. We'd basically be Maine.

I’ve been a fan since 80’s but they need to hire distinguished coaches w proven track record or end the program in its entirety! If they move to FCS /CAA (Coastal Athletic League now) they would play New Hampshire, Maine, RI, Albany, Vilinova… they not good enough for this either! All this money going to ineffectual coaching. It’s a racket! End it all.

I’m from New York. New York has little interest in college football, but Syracuse survives.
