    I first need to give credit where credit is due. eTrade's marketing department is top notch. They put together a great marketing program and are very well known within the industry. However, does that mean they are the online broker you should choose?

    E*Trade commissions are now $6.50, and $4.50 if you're a frequent trader. This video is obsolete now :)

    • @claytrader
      @claytrader  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      What's your source? I still see $9.99. Before you got and call something "obsolete", site your source. Besides, even if it's true, that is still TERRIBLE commission for someone that is "active".

    • @claytrader
      @claytrader  7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      No updates on their site yet, regardless, those rates are still hideous.

    • @geethikedesilva1784
      @geethikedesilva1784 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      They sent out an e-mail update to existing users, and the trading platform is updated with the new commissions rate. I guess the point I am trying to make is that Etrade has a commissions rate that is fair for all types of traders now, whether you want to trade a $50 stock or a $0.0005 stock, without any risk of hidden fees. You can pay a lot to lightspeed if you're a penny stock trader, and most other platforms have some additional fees for trading stocks under $1. Etrade lets you trade OTC stocks as well. Their only restriction is that you can't short anything under $1, after what happened with KBIO :).

    What about the spreads on options? Does each broker set its own prices? For instance if bid=9.60 mark=10.00 ask=10.40, are those numbers going to be the same anywhere you go? Or will it be different with different brokers? Right now Optionshouse has suspended paper trading because etrade doesn't support it(that's what they told me). I need to find another platform to paper trade on, but it would be good if it is one that I would want to stick with for real trading, especially options.

    What's with all the talk of what $20 is worth? Why don't you just make a video comparing platforms and prices? It's amazing to me that your argument is that cheaper platforms are just as good and yet you give no details at all in over 7 minutes.
    It's like if you made a video claiming that McDonald's is cheaper than BK and just as good and then just rambled on for 5 minutes about how 50 cents is a sum of money. No substance.

    I have a both E trade an Td Ameritrade an I don't have any trouble with any of these guys. He is failing to mention the higher priced brokers will be around longer than any of the smaller brokers when the time comes.. That $20 dollars on every trade is paying for your info an web page an streaming you are using. I 've seen a lot of cheaper priced brokers that don't have half as much as the big brokers an has trouble with streaming info to you.. It is in all what you want for your broker.

      " He is failing to mention the higher priced brokers will be around longer than any of the smaller brokers when the time comes" All brokers are backed by government regulations, so you're money is safe. That's why it is important to make sure they're members of FINRA and other government bodies. There are plenty of ways to wiggle around that can allow you to get all kinds of cost effective tools without needing to pay these huge fees. Here are some "wiggle tools" here if interested: claytrader.com/resources/

    I'm confused... So you have to pay $10 per EACH stock purchase? or $10 per bulk transaction?
    So if I buy 10 stocks for cheap in 1 transaction, at a rate of .10 cent per stock, would I be paying $10.10 or $100.10?

    • @claytrader
      @claytrader  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      For eTrade, it is $10 per buy/sell. So if you buy 10 different ticker symbols, it would be $100. If you buy 1 ticker symbol (10 shares in the order), it would be $10.

    This is sort of an E*Trade/Online Trade question
    My understanding is that (I'm stating this in case anyone wants to correct me) when you purchase stock you're charged $10. When selling stock you're also charged $10.
    Let's say that I am using E*Trade. I'm personally interested in penny stocks. So does that mean I should buy/sell in immense bulk (Let's hypothetically say they're all $ .85) to make sure I'm minimizing the trading fees?
    Basically meaning if I buy $5 in stock I'll be charged $10, and if I buy $1000 I'll still be charged $10?
    Is that right?

    I am not sure I agree. I checked in to lightspeed and while their commissions are low, I could be paying a very high amount in commissions if I am taking away liquidity. So, if I traded 30k stocks, I could be paying $90 in commissions. That's terrible for a penny stock trader, isn't it? Also, etrade allows OTC trading and doesn't really charge for etrade Pro. I haven't paid anything for Etrade pro for the last year, even after not meeting the required minimum number of trades for the quarter. I think etrade isn't as bad as demonized on this video, it just depends on what kind of a trader you are.

    Wait wait wait back up... So... If I pay $5 for something instead of $10... You're saying I save $5? Investing is so complex.
    HAHA may the youtube gods grant you many clicks.
    my 2 cents. I use etrade. I make a few trades a year (buy and hold kinda guy). I like the customer service, the easy to understand platform, the phone app coordinates with the website very well, I like where they hold my cash before I actually purchase a stock with it, I like their "research" area where you can watch videos and read articles on any aspect of investing.
    That being said; I think they have their financial vehicles they want to push on customers, but it is a very gentle push.
    And depending on your trading style/strategy the $10 can add up. "day traders" beware.
    So really... it just depends. But yes I agree. $5 is less than $10.

      +ClayTrader Ahh ok would look forward to that. I'm not sure what makes you assume it's bad but then again there are good and bad bits about every form of trading. I'll be completely honest I began to trade binary options and started to accumulate a decent profit but being inexperienced and 'hungry' I ended up losing it all by placing one big trade with the hope of gaining more. I shall soon try it again after making some tweeks to my strategy. Also I believe to make a good income flow from binary it's more physiological than skill or study. You can study as much as you want but 95 percent of it relies on your mental state. For instance you need to know when to withdraw and so on.
      Just want to say I've watched many related video types on TH-cam before but I never last more than a minute for some reason I can stick around till the end on your videos I don't know why but that should be a good thing lol Keep up the work (y)

    ok 10 to buy 10 to sell but lets say you buy a share for 3.60 per share and you buy 1000 so 1000*3.60 is 3600+10=3610 that you spent and the share goes up from 3.60 to 3.80 thats a really small percent it will most likely go up more but that comes out to be 3800-the 10 that you pay to sell and you still made 180 in one day from only 1 share if you can get a profit on 2 and more you will be making minimum of 300 a day. if ur smart or crazy i dont know you can go two ways sell all at once and when price goes down buy all of it back up with money made and money you had to start of with or sell half bring the price down and buy more on top so really from the 1000 you go down to 500 and then back up to 1400 shares so no matter what if you make a good investment you will make money so it is worth the $20 or $60 to use a good site when you are miking hundreds a day
