Tony Grieg unbelievable commentary - WASIM AKRAM & RAZZAQ DESTROY SRI LANKA - 8 WICKETS

  • The most thrilling finish one can see. Absolutely abysmal batting by Sri Lanka. Sharjah Coca-Cola Champions Trophy - 3rd match 15th October 1999. Sri Lanka require 24 runs in the last 10 overs with 8 wickets remaining and manage to collapse like a pack of cards against the awesome reverse swing of Sultan of Swing Wasim Akram and Abdul Razzaq.
And this match was made more special and memorable by the awesome commentary of the one and only Tony Grieg.

I remember also the tri-series between India, SA and Pakistan around 99-2000, when Pakistan defended 170 or something against SA. SA were 70 odd for 1 with Gibbs and Boucher going well and in comes Shoaib Akhtar. A few mins later they collapsed to 100 all out

In the last few years Pakistan has been winning against India in many international matches. At the moment it's India that has lost to both Pakistan and Sri Lanka in Asia Cup 2022. Pakistanis still know how to fight and win the game. The difference is now Indian players don't treat their opponents with minimal respect which is why they have lost multiple times to a team they consider perpetually inferior to themselves.

@@adityakulkarni3184 Yes! in that match, Shoaib Akhtar took 3 wickets in 1 over even though he was not fully fit, and perhaps he left the field after bowling that over. It was a classic low-scoring match. In 90s, teams were able to defend low totals with solid bowling line up, but now even 300-350 is not safe and teams easily chase down huge totals. Wasim Akram says while commentating that thankfully I retired several years ago, else batters would have scored a lot of runs on my bowling these days.

    Two things to notice
    1. No advertisement on pakistan shirt
    2. Players used to sit with non players too eg Jayasuria was sitting with common spectators
