GTS firmware has apparently been updated now to work on the Venom, local dealer told me. The standard RS4 has been discontinued and the venom will be sold in combo versions.
This video is fantastic. I saw the Venom and didn't understand before watching this video what the differences were. I like that the Venom has traditional servo mounting points. I currently have an Align 470 LM with Ikon2 and was considering upgrading to the Venom. There are a couple of reasons I'm holding off. (1) Parts for the 470 are abundant and cheap (2) I'm not sure if my HobbyWing 60A ESC will work with it (3) It's a shame that it's not all micro servos on the Venom meaning that I can't use the Align micro servo on the tail.
Thank you! The venom is amazing! Goosky really did a great job with this one. Yes, you Hobbywing 60 will be perfect for it. Yes your Align 470 servos will work as they are micro as well. The only thing that won’t work is the tail servo as the venom uses mini tail and the 470 uses a micro tail.
Hello Jeff, Glad to see this review. It's great that most parts of the heli are interchangeable. I setup my PnP up as per your recent video and am very happy with it. I also shorten all my wires as per your video and had a small problem It kept shorting out so I purchased a new flight controller which I never opened yet because I realized that my signal wires was not inserted into the single female receptacle properly. I removed the single female connector and put into full female connector which holds better in the flight controller than the single connector and now I have solid contact. I also used the fabric paint to hold the connectors to the F.C. I am glad to hear that Goosky is going to update the software for the original flight controller. If I decide to eventually purchase the Venom, I will use that controller as well as the Goosky ESC and their servos. It helps keep the cost down and I am not ready for a more responsive heli....yet. Love all your videos. You are definitely the best reviewer for Heli's and "how to videos" on TH-cam IMHO. 🧙♂👍

I can’t wait for them to come out with their line of Servos for the venom as well as the update for the GTS FBL unit! It will be great to be able to use that FBO and multiple different helicopters. Along the line not just Goosky models. I’m happy to hear you got your issues figured out with your wiring. The fabric paint is awesome and works great.

I am about to pull the trigger on a Venom combo. 2 questions please......[Q1]: Should I be concerned that the Goosky 70a esc is no longer available and you are now supplied with a less powerful 60a esc?....[Q2]: Are the servos that come with the Combo good enough for 3D flying? @@eddieepicmedia Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the videos! So the the ESC amp does not determine the power. A motor is going to pull whatever it demand regardless of the amperage of the ESC. so it doesn’t matter if it’s a 20a ESC or a 200a ESC the power will be the same. Yes, the stock servos will work great.
Hi Jeff, just wondering would the rs4 legend still fly with a vbar neo or evo fbl unit. I'm only wondering as people say the rs4 legend has a different servo layout. I'll be using the vbar classic transmitter aswell. Hope you can help with some info on this. Many thanks Jeff and keep the great videos coming. I've just purchased both the vbar neo and a mikado tx and are waiting for them to arrive and a guy at my flying field said I'd wasted my money as the servo layout wouldn't work with the vbar. Hey @westhobbiesrc . Can you do a review on the original Goosky with the updated head dampeners , also could you explain the difference between speed and agility within the app. Maybe show your setup as of now with the app. Appreciate everything you do !
Thank you! Yes I can, the new head dampeners tighten up the head a lot and gets rid of that up/down bubble that you get in fast forward flight. Speed is rotation rate, how fast the heli will rotate on its axis in degrees per second. On the app it’s just 0-100 so higher the number the faster it will rotate. Agility is how the mode responds. Higher agility the more natural or fly bar feel and lower the more robotic the model feels.

Regarding the FBL, what do you recommend these days? Is Ikon still the best way to go? Or are there better options that provide significant improvements without adding significant cost?
Thank you! You will be very happy with the RS4 venom! It’s a fantastic heli. So personally my choice of FBL is iKon! Best bang for you buck. Vbar is great as well but a lot more expensive for the same features. With iKon and Hobbywing you get full telemetry and if flying spektrum you just need a SRXL2 and you got everything you could ask for.
Im getting the venom, i like the large battery tray ,and my battery is portected in a crash . Your battery is trashed if yo crash with the omp m4 bros.
I have crashed with the m4 and honestly it crashes pretty well. Only broke blades and a servo arm. Battery didn’t get damaged. It’s pretty hard imo to damage the battery
That was one thing I have worried about on the M4 with the battery on top just like multiple other helicopters that had the battery out and exposed in a hard crash. I have had batteries crush on older. Trex models and they are mounted like the M4. The RS4 and venom both have tail side frames that protect the battery which I like.
I'd love to see that too! I have the trex470 and the OMP M4 and the OMP M4 is so rock solid, love it! Same FBL on both, OMP is so locked in, especially the tail is excellent.
Goosky is coming out with a firmware update which will make the GTS work with the venom but it could take some time. They don't have much incentives to do so as it would interfere with their existing PNP kit sales. I strongly suspect that the old RS4 will eventually be discontinued altogether in favor of the venom.
Unfortunately, as it sits right now, there is no way to change it without the factory doing it which I don’t know if they can/will until the update is available. I hope it comes out very soon.

I just ordered the venom with the rs4 controller. It seems Goosky fixed the issue, “V23.07.15 (Venom version servo can be used directly)”
So as I heard it’s been updated to work with the Venom!

What’s flying better is the FBL and the motor upgrade in my opinion.
It’s definitely a lot to do with the FBL, and I believe the servo layout helps tremendously

Well I'll buy the RS4 in two weeks, I already ordered received the GDW HV servos and I'm using an ikon 2 with hw platinum 60amp. On my ix 14

@@zadaw7220 i have instructed goosky factory to alter the flight control servo direction setting for me :)
