- This one has a special meaning. I Believe in you by Stryper was the song that Burch and his wife choose for their first wedding dance song way back when. There is even a small clip from the wedding in this . Alexis was amazed at Michael Sweet's vocal range and pitch control. Styper was a very good metal band that happened to also be in the genre of Christian Metal. I think everyone will like this and the story behind the wedding.

This is not their best metal song lol, but it’s beautiful.
My all time favorite band. Most “Christian” rock bands alluded to God, but Stryper truly glorified God. They not only put Jesus’ name in their music, but they even used scripture. As a disciple of Jesus Christ I am so grateful. They were better, musically, than 90% of the music out there, but because they glorified Jesus people blew them off.
They are still going and their new music is absolutely banging. Still God focused, still Rocking

Stryper is my all time favorite band. You keep saying "they had" great songs or "they were a great band." They are still recording new albums every one to two years. Their newer stuff is absolutely AMAZING!!! I recommend the song "Yahweh" as your introduction to their newer music. You will love it!!!

I love Stryper. Such an underrated band. Phenomenal musicians, and the vocals are God given. (No pun intended).
So many great songs; "Always there for you", "To Hell with the devil", "The Way", "Calling on you", and one of my favorites "All for one". But I could name so many more. 🤘😇

One of my top 3 favorite metal bands. Queensryche, Iron Maiden, and Stryper. Michael Sweet’s voice is amazing. And Oz Fox can PLAY.
The very first time I head “Loud n Clear” (the original, not the remix) I was hooked.
Its crazy how Stryper (one of my favs) has gotten better over the years and so many of the mainstream bands who mocked them took a fall. Got to give her something heavy from Stryper next. 🤘👊
Stryper is one of the few bands that hasn't change much and still make awesome music.
Speaking as an Anglican(Church Of Ireland) Christian I know what you mean about listening to this song both in a Christian way and in a secular love song way. Another great Stryper song I recommend is the more upbeat power ballad "Always There For You" It's lyrics can also be listened to as a Christian song and as a secular love song. You mentioned Garth Brooks'song "The Dance"? Incidentally one of his song,"Unanswered Prayers",is actually a religiously based love song.
This was my wedding song as well. Thought I was the only one. Btw, just saw them about 2 weeks ago and they still are awesome live.
I don't know if it's been mentioned already, but Stryper was panned by Christians as well - especially amongst the Evangelical crowd. They got hate from BOTH SIDES and still managed to still make great music and spread their message.
Heck, given how the evangelicals have lost their way, I think the guys in Stryper have absolutely proven their adherence to their faith.
Nothing wrong with a christian rock band and they had any awesome sounds. Still listen to them

Yeah, I went back and forth. I *liked* Stryper for the music. I didn't like the whole Christian thing. I still don't. I always felt that "Christian metal" was a bit of an oxymoron. 😁 Still, very good musicians. No denying that! Rock on!

It´s crazy that they were mocked back in the day, but right now they are the 80´s band that are in best shape, with a great live show and recording new albums that are always great.

Stryper has been my favorite band since I first heard them, The first song was Calling On You. They have been my favorite band since then. They have only gotten better with age, they still are great.
Don't be surprised if Michael Sweet comes on to comment. Very down to Earth person who I believe enjoys seeing his band in these.

Saw Stryper in concert in 2005, and was the best concert I've been to! Got to meet them afterwards. It was amazing!

My wife’s maid of honor sang All of Me by Stryper, at our wedding. Their album, To Hell With The Devil was a masterpiece!
Their song Soldiers Under Command is the reason I started playing guitar; such a cool riff and at the time the playing on that song was like nothing I’d ever heard.

My cousin Michael and I saw stryper in concert in early June 2023 at a bar and grille in Roseville, California near Sacramento. It was their the final battle tour and their still awesome great harmonies and Michael Sweet still can belt out those high notes. It seems to me that every new album they release gets heavy sounding, which is great. They played for two hours straight with no breaks. First time seeing them live. They will be returning next year on the bands 40th anniversary. Rock on!🙏
Stryper was my favorite band back in high school. No I was not a Christian back in high school. Do some of there newer stuff they are still awesome! Transgressor is a great song love the reaction guys!

Always loved Stryper. First got into them back in '84 with The Yellow and Black Attack. A mate of mine invited me to their church youth group on Friday nights. There I was introduced to Stryper, girls who loved Stryper and Dungeons and Dragons. Who knew church could be fun and educational 😂

This band has soooo much depth. Whether it be early, such as Soldiers Under Command, or Do Unto Others which is more recent, the is such rich harmony. Whether heavy or a ballad, a truly amazing and underrated band. Michael Sweet also has some solo work which is great. He still has some pipes!
My old band, ELIJAH'S RIDE" had the privilege of opening for Robert Sweet's side band "BLISSED" back in the early 2,000's in Tulsa, OK. He and those guys were so freaking cool.

Awesome Reaction! Actually, this album that the song is on came out this day in 1988. I did pick it up those many years ago. I've been a fan since 1986 and I created and run their official fan channel on here called Stryper Tube. Their last few albums are excellent and definitely worth checking out.
As a teenager and a metal head of the 80s, I remember my friends and I not being into Stryper because of the Christian aspect, but for myself I had a harder time with the black and yellow color scheme they used. It just seemed so uncool and reminded me of bumble bees. Looking back, I'm still not into them but give them credit for sticking with their beliefs in a time where they could have easily cashed in by choosing a darker approach.

I saw Stryper at the Mud Island Amphitheater in Memphis decades ago. At the end of the show Michael came out and gave his testimony and then threw New Testaments into the crowd. Very cool!

Great reaction! In 1989 "I Believe in You" was one of the most played songs on secular radio stations in Brazil. The song was the soundtrack for a series on the main TV network in the country. Fun fact, everyone was surprised to learn that it wasn't a woman on vocals LOL.

Vocalist Michael Sweet also sang with Boston for several years (I believe after Brad Delp's passing), as well as worked with Dokken guitarist George Lynch on a couple projects.

Been a fan since I picked up "Yellow and Black Attack" on vinyl at the Christian music kiosk at the mall. Robert is such an underrated drummer and Oz is an underrated guitarist. Stryper were my gateway to other Christian metal bands like Holy Soldier, Crystavox, Deliverance, and Bride. Glad to see a Stryper reaction vid!

I actually sang "All of Me" to my wife at our wedding. Very underrated song by Stryper but the production was not great. I wonder how it would sound if they re-recorded it today?
These guys were huge on mtv they had #1 videos for weeks on mtv I saw them 5 times in concert in the 1980’s in Daytona and Tampa also Orlando great down to earth guys Yahweh is good transgressor is another good one

I met michael Sweet about ten years ago Backstage at the Bi-Lo center in Greenville SC.. He was singing harmony with Tommy Decarlo in the rock band Boston. Boston and Lou Gramm were touring together. Lou's band at that time was the guys from a band I worked with back Rochester,NY. I saw this who dressed with the scarfs and that rock look and he looked so familiar, I asked him "How do I know you"? He said I was in a little band in the 80's called Stryper . I must have turned 3 shades of red. We just started laughing. But yeah he was on tour singing harmony with Boston for a while.keep the vids coming.

You REALLY need to introduce her to Stryper's "Soldiers Under Command". That is the song that really cements their rock/metal chops, and really sets them apart from their syrupy sweet ballads.
Saw them last year at M3 and they were amazing. Going to see then in August at one of the casinos in Biloxi. Awesome that your headphones are yellow and black too.

Yes, my mom burned my Van Halen 1984 cassette but would go with me to the Styper concerts. She's 72 and went with me last night to their 40th Anniversary Concert last night.
