Nope. You don’t need to remove the glass at all. And you’re wrong about the connector. It’s just the indicator. Nothing to do with the heated adjustable mirror.

erm, you have missed the point of the video. The video is a guide to removing the mirror glass and the surround. its a guide to all. it says in the title of the video lol.
