I'm disappointed that you didn't go into the deeper revelations of what the coffee bean symbolized. Its sweet beginnings only to be turned into a bitter taste represents how we, as humans evolve throughout our lifetime. Is the coffee bean's purpose solely to make coffee? Does it have a purpose solely because a higher power has demanded it? Does it turn bitter because it revolts against our societal standards and only by rebelling does it feel like its own entity? We have to apply these questions to ourselves, and only when we find true meaning in a meaningless world, can we understand the struggles of the coffee bean and thus make a true cup of coffee.

The person I'm talking to almost never realizes that I have no idea what we're discussing.

There were some great points here about the methods of the cultivation of the gathering of coffee, but perhaps you could have focused more on the gathering of the methods of cultivating coffee instead? It's vitally important that we can find ways to enhance our empathy for coffee and the ways in which we understand coffee. I personally, couldn't bring myself to intentionally segregate coffee from coffee beans without first reaching a deeper understanding of the coffee in the first place. Just something to consider.
