The chants that NCT usually shout fits very well with this genre because latin pop music is usually party music and finally 4. the concept: is a Mexican taquería very familiar to latinamerican audiences (not every country has taquerías but local restaurants and markets are like that all over latam) and the chilly peppers (Capsicum Genus) used to make hot sauce are native to latinamerica, so it doesn't get more latino than that lol. The shouting or chanting is something I love from NCT. I think when other groups cover nct, that’s the one thing they always miss and it makes the song sound awkward. Idk the chanting is a little weird but unique to nct and that’s why I love it
personally, i felt the latin influence from the very beginning. as a latina, i identified quickly it would have such base, because of the "menea para abajo" that was actually shown in the teasers, a phrase commonly used in reggaeton (latin genre). in addition, i loved how they blended latin guitars with afrobeat rhythms and they even brought zimbabwean producers to work on the song. overall, im obsessed with how they balanced each genre and made such a good song! as an nctzen, seeing my faves sing songs inspired in my native genres in non-stereotypical ways feels truly amazing
This is definitely latin influenced, I'm latina, I'm argentinian, and this feels great for me, I loved it!!. Also, at the beginning there's a part in spanish that says "menea para abajo, menea para abajo" wich means "shake it down" !
gotta say as a latinazen this song really does it for me ! the afrobeat blends so well with the latin pop imo like i don't know what i expected when they announced it like that but I'm very happy with it !!
I feel like only NCT dream can do this sound. Like the fun is just NCT Dream. I feel like the more mature is WayV and then the typical kpop is a bit of Nct 127. And the dancing, OMG the dance of the chorus, the slow down of the song with the move and the "bowl mixing" part, ugh just GOLD. Definetly this song is gonna be stuck in my head and played for the summer.
This is a cultural reset for dream. The perfect blend of zany, youthful, mature, and cool. Their also the only unit/ artists that can pull of this sound so I hope they progress with something similar
dream is completely killing it this comeback! the entire album is incredible, they're vocally stunning and look great! as a fan of theirs from the start and through the whole graduation concept, they always had potential that SM was keeping them from reaching and it makes me a little emotional to see them doing the dang thing and breaking all these records :,) they deserve it so much
pd i had the video open in another tab in preparation for the audio having to be muted lol it’s nice to hear the audio from your video for the first time in a while!
the high pitched shouting isn't because of editing but Haechan lol we can hear his voice REALLY clearly and it seems like they layered it multiple times
I remembered that PD has mentioned in the reaction for NCT127 Punch that NCT has a signature of shouting singing in their songs. When Hot sauce released, I just recalled that PD has said this, and I am freaking loving it! BTW, maybe it is just me as fan for NCT, but this whole dream album is fabulous, I love every song in it. I couldn’t even decide which one is my favorite! I just keep looping the whole album since it released. I almost cried when I first listened the whole album because the quality is unbelievable, and it took so long for Dream to get here and I literally feel that they have grown so much. I really love them.
as a latin person, it is very latin influenced! especially the vocal parts and the pre-chorus. but even though it is very influenced it doesn't sound like a regular latin influenced song, which is what i think makes it stand out so much. it's not like anything you usually hear from latin inspired songs in kpop
Once the boys said that they really worked hard for the "shouting" part, they really did it in many ways (notes) and the high one, even Jeno said it hurts his throat so much... BUT, the result is FANTASTIC, right? thank you for reacting 💚
It’s not my usual go to song, but it’s def got a hook I can’t forget and that’s saying something. Also Renjun’s hair makes it look like it’s made for him :)
The mv itself reminded me of suju house party. And I loved chenle's use of his lower register, renjun and jisung harmony, jeno's iconic geolla my dish, haechans high note, and marks intro rap
I moved to Texas when I was a just a year old, so I unfortunately don't know a whole lot about Latin and/or Hispanic culture but!! I genuinely do feel that Dream appreciated our culture and music rather than appropriated it (not that other groups do! BTS, for example, popped the hell off with Airplane pt 2). It's honestly incredible how k-pop just their own flare on Latin and Hispanic music while still being respectful. In terms of NCT Dream, yeah, there were some stereotypes, like hot sauce and spicy food, but they weren't glorified in a way that made it the entire theme, if that makes sense? They just used it a metaphor of love, which is creative as shit. Mad respect for that. Not only the song, but the choreo goes HARD. The guitar, drums, kick, it all radiates the Hispanic vibes while still keeping it Korean, and more specifically NCT. The frantic movement in the chorus alone is so addicting to watch, it just makes you wanna dance along too. It really shows just how powerful our music can be. Hot Sauce SOTY material, this is not up for debate. 😌
Hi mexican here!! tbh i don't listen to mexican/hispanic music a lot, but hot sauce sounds like a song i would hear walking in the streets, specially Jeno's verse and of course the "menea para abajo" part, like played in stores and such, I feel like it really portraits the latin vibe in a good way
I am making a song as an assignment at school and tbh I was amazed when I listen to hot sauce teaser, cuz latin just suddenly came out of nowhere. I even have problem with mixing piano with violins or guitar in my song and they just have Afrobeat with latin together in one song. THAT IS VERY HARD YALL. one mistake then the song will sound really awkward, so praised to the music writers and nct 🙏 and tbh, the beat is really unique, I don't know what kind of instrument they use to make that. aah hot sauce is the song that I was really surprised with dreamies, it is so nice, so unique, def a big step from dreamies uwu
The fact that NEO CULTURE TECHNOLOGY is the name of the group, that doesnt mean they want to add some twist to their music by adding latin influence, by which NCT is Culture-friendly kpop music
Look, latina people saying this is fire just settles that this is fire. I'm actually so happy the community this song is influenced by/from finds the song nice and respectful. They did a good job with this one it sounds like and that just brings me so much joy.
as a dominican, the best way i could describe this song as urban latino. if i went down the street from my house, id hear this time of beating blasting out of someones house, or booming from someones car. its not stereotypical latino inspired, and i LOVE it
thats my favorite part of the song too! i love how wacky the video was, the transitions made it flow really well, it was just constantly moving from one scene to the other i love it so much ALSO renjun & jeno look stunning u r absolutely correct ALSO center haechan & the way he sang “babe” .. he really got me hELP SKJDKSKKSS loved ur reaction PD, thank u for this!!
WAIT WAIT WAIT...PD, PD, PD have you NEVER heard or reacted to NCT Dream "GO"...you have to check it out, it has a strong EDM influence! And its amazing!
Okay so as a Mexican I was very surprised with this concept and song. When I first heard the title "Hot Sauce" I honestly had nothing on mind since it's kinda weird lol but it is definitely related with the Mexican concept since most Mexicans love spicy food and it's a big part of our culture (even for those of us who can't really eat spicy food). Now the video is placed in a taquería (so yup technically a taco shop) as for the food Mark served...well you won't find that in a taquería in Mexico but it's fine, nothing too scandalous. There's also a part in the music video where Jisung is placing a box and right before we get to the hot sauce metorite you can see like a town background and idk the houses have a really Mexican feel to it. Then when the hot sauce metorite landed and we had Jeno and Mark in a desert as a background I liked the cacti detail but I would've liked it more if the cacti shown would've been either more species of cacti or the most representative one which is "Nopal" which is in our flag (we also eat it and it's delicious). Going back to the hot sauce Mexicans rather eat homemade hot sauces which is what you would find at a taquería but I'll let it go since bottled hot sauces are also wildly popular. That's it for the video. As for the song... I think the song has a more Latin vibe to it than a Mexican one. Just to be precise for me there's a lot of Latin music that doesn't have borders across Latin America and there's also some regional music which is only found in a certain country. The latin sounds in the song are found in Mexican music but also (and maybe have their origin) in other Latin American countries. Latin music is quite rythmic and that's the element most kpop songs tend to go for when having a latin concept but I like that this song didn't only go that way adding some other interesting elements. The beginning sample which is also part of the drop in the chorus is someone saying something is spanish. On the second part of the first verse and specially throughout the pre-chorus the instrumentation with an acoustic guitar but just the whole feel of that section is very latin influenced. Anyways... that's all I could figure out by just looking at the video and listening to the song. In my opinion it's done well with very minor details that are easy to overlook and well the song is a bop too.
so yeeeey it’s my time to shine as a latin/mexican fan! 🤩 ok out of jokes, yes I’m mexican (born and raised and lived my whole life here too) so I can explain a little about this. Sooo, yes, hot sauce has a strong latin music vibes and also mexican culture things. For the mexican cultures we can talk about they are dancing in a taqueria (which is the correct name of the taco shop) and they are in a very mexican “suburb” when they are outdoors and also mexico is well know for our huge salsa/sauce diversity. The cool thing here is they didn’t fell into stereotypes and I really appreciate it. Now, the music is very festive and colorful so yeah it has latin vibes thanks to the guitars and the rhythm but it also has an afrobeat (that’s what they described) and hip hop tones. And for the 11:12 it says *_menea para abajo_* on repeat, and we use that phrase when we are dancing. “menear” is something like shaking your body, and “para abajo” is literally go down, so we use it to say how low you can dance. I hope this can help :) and also thank you for your reaction. I love my boys being praised
The hightone rap part is necessary, because it is in order to let the listeners feel the spicy taste, from the music of hearing to taste transition. That's really interesting. Also it could be a charactor of this type of music.(I am also not familiar about that sorry.)
In the pre-chorus where Jeno says "pick ma dish", I think the beat sounds a bit similar to Busta Rhymes - "Touch it." I'm not sure if this is the song you recalled listening to in high school. Love your videos!!!
I'm so glad you liked it! probably because the chorus so odd-sounding, but this particular song has very split opinions, and I'm happy it worked for you. Also, I can't say for sure, but I'm pretty sure the chorus shouting wasn't pitched up at all, it's just mostly Haechan with his naturally high voice haha.
As an latina, all i can say is= I love it, specially the vocal portions and jisung' break i loved haechan and renjun dancing part too, it looks somethings pretty hispanic influenced, it's adorable
Talking about the music video, I really like the settings, mainly the one where they are in the street. It's not stereotypical but it really seems like any other street I'd find here in Brazil, so to me they nailed that!
At first listen i didn't like the song as much but, just like a lot of other nct songs, i became obsessed with it after a few more listens. The way they changed the second chorus so it doesn't become repetitive and take away the surprising aspect of the 1st chorus was a top tier choice
As a Latina (I'm from Colombia) I DON'T feel offended, and no, I didn't see as offensive or stereotyped what is shown in the video, they made a great song putting there the Latin vibes, as a Latina and I can say that this song really has this authentic Latin vibe that it isn't even disrespectful in any way. I do not understand, why always, Americans want to see cultural appropriation (or problems created by them) about a culture that is not even their own, they speak and assure that it is something "offensive" when it is not even about their culture (or when It's not even offensive), always creating unnecessary problems, I'm not saying it for PD, I say it because I've already come across a lot of comments or tweets from Americans accusing NCT boys of cultural appropriation when it's not even their culture.
i miss NCT music in your videos, but is always interesting listen to your opinion about them. My favorite part is the chorus like a yelling too, all the sets in this video are so colorful ,they have a basic mexican style but i liked them. The video is so funny and the song is catchy,i really liked even though the don't talk abou food :) *sorry for my english, i'm still learning*
As a Latina I very much enjoyed the Latin influence in this track! Latin music is stereotypically known for its romantic side like you mentioned but I REALLY enjoyed the twist nct dream added. It’s not your stereotypical style but you can still tell it was influenced by Latin music. And honestly its very refreshing. A lot of Kpop artists tend to take the safe way, usually just sticking to the romantic Latin spice, which can get a bit boring. And the mv set was really cool. Honestly it looked genuine. Reminded me of the market places in Latin America. Kudos to them and their team for not being so stereotypical! Really enjoyed this overall! Really funky👍🏼

The shouting or chanting is something I love from NCT. I think when other groups cover nct, that’s the one thing they always miss and it makes the song sound awkward. Idk the chanting is a little weird but unique to nct and that’s why I love it
The Dreamies said they recorded the chorus both slowed down and sped up
personally, i felt the latin influence from the very beginning. as a latina, i identified quickly it would have such base, because of the "menea para abajo" that was actually shown in the teasers, a phrase commonly used in reggaeton (latin genre).
in addition, i loved how they blended latin guitars with afrobeat rhythms and they even brought zimbabwean producers to work on the song.
overall, im obsessed with how they balanced each genre and made such a good song! as an nctzen, seeing my faves sing songs inspired in my native genres in non-stereotypical ways feels truly amazing
This is definitely latin influenced, I'm latina, I'm argentinian, and this feels great for me, I loved it!!. Also, at the beginning there's a part in spanish that says "menea para abajo, menea para abajo" wich means "shake it down" !
FOR REAL?
@@Macarena2300 yesss
@@atothezq7361 omggggg literally im a latina and i didn't realized!!!! so cool
@@Macarena2300 Al comienzo pensé que era solo mí parecer, pero luego busque la letra y dice eso!
@@atothezq7361 AYYYY no lo puedo creer, que divertido, sabrán lo que dice? JAJAJAJA
gotta say as a latinazen this song really does it for me ! the afrobeat blends so well with the latin pop imo like i don't know what i expected when they announced it like that but I'm very happy with it !!
anyway im having a ball!!! renjun looks so good
I feel like only NCT dream can do this sound.
THE ALBUM IS BEAUTIFUL 🤧🤧🤧
The whole album is awesome, DREAM just flexing on their first full album
This is a cultural reset for dream. The perfect blend of zany, youthful, mature, and cool. Their also the only unit/ artists that can pull of this sound so I hope they progress with something similar
dream is completely killing it this comeback! the entire album is incredible, they're vocally stunning and look great! as a fan of theirs from the start and through the whole graduation concept, they always had potential that SM was keeping them from reaching and it makes me a little emotional to see them doing the dang thing and breaking all these records :,) they deserve it so much
pd i had the video open in another tab in preparation for the audio having to be muted lol it’s nice to hear the audio from your video for the first time in a while!
same here xd
Yeah.. I was surprised to hear the full mv with audio on form of therapy...
I had the song embedded in me HAHAHAHAH
they said they forgot to mute the video lmao but surprisingly SM didn't block it
As an Argentinian, I was really surprised with the Latin influence and I really love it. They did great!
the high pitched shouting isn't because of editing but Haechan lol we can hear his voice REALLY clearly and it seems like they layered it multiple times
Renjun looks SO. FUCKING. GOOD. in this comeback.
Thank god SM didn't block this reaction video.
Hot sauce is AMAZING. The song is soooo NCT yet so NCT Dream at the same time. Also Jeno looks like a whole Prince Eric wtheck
YO DREAM .... 7DREAM is back and they killed it 💚
this whole comeback is a success. with them being altogether as seven again, i’m so proud and happy for them! :”)
Lmao Even PD calls renjun renJUN nana’s proud
If PD says it’s amazing, it’s amazing. I’m always so interested to hear your thoughts because it enhances my own understanding of songs.
as a latin person, it is very latin influenced! especially the vocal parts and the pre-chorus. but even though it is very influenced it doesn't sound like a regular latin influenced song, which is what i think makes it stand out so much. it's not like anything you usually hear from latin inspired songs in kpop
Once the boys said that they really worked hard for the "shouting" part, they really did it in many ways (notes) and the high one, even Jeno said it hurts his throat so much... BUT, the result is FANTASTIC, right?
thank you for reacting 💚
The whole album is awesome, the music video is amazing, the vocals are great and the dance 10/10!!!
It’s not my usual go to song, but it’s def got a hook I can’t forget and that’s saying something. Also Renjun’s hair makes it look like it’s made for him :)
PD called it when he said in STAYC's ASAP that kpop is shifting towards creating tik tok like addicting choreo and chorus. this is all over tik tok
pd uses they/them pronouns
i didn’t expect dream to come back with this type of sound but at the same time i did (??) also !! the latin hiphop concept ? HELL YES !
The mv itself reminded me of suju house party. And I loved chenle's use of his lower register, renjun and jisung harmony, jeno's iconic geolla my dish, haechans high note, and marks intro rap
As a latina, I really love this song. The Latin influence is super clear in the pre chorus, I just love it 💚 Thanks Dreamies!
Hi mexican here!!
tbh i don't listen to mexican/hispanic music a lot, but hot sauce sounds like a song i would hear walking in the streets, specially Jeno's verse and of course the "menea para abajo" part, like played in stores and such, I feel like it really portraits the latin vibe in a good way
2:08 *ooough renjun’s hair*
YESSIR! 👌
I am making a song as an assignment at school and tbh I was amazed when I listen to hot sauce teaser, cuz latin just suddenly came out of nowhere. I even have problem with mixing piano with violins or guitar in my song and they just have Afrobeat with latin together in one song. THAT IS VERY HARD YALL. one mistake then the song will sound really awkward, so praised to the music writers and nct 🙏
and tbh, the beat is really unique, I don't know what kind of instrument they use to make that.
aah hot sauce is the song that I was really surprised with dreamies, it is so nice, so unique, def a big step from dreamies uwu
The fact that NEO CULTURE TECHNOLOGY is the name of the group, that doesnt mean they want to add some twist to their music by adding latin influence, by which NCT is Culture-friendly kpop music
menea para abajo y menea para abajo this song SLAPS
I'm from Brazil and I can say that ther's nothing offensive about dreamies mv, the only problem is it ends too soon!
I love this comeback, LOVE IT
HOT SAUCE
Song of the Year
Album of the Year
facts
ngl i was hella shocked when you played the video and there was music LMAOOO
Look, latina people saying this is fire just settles that this is fire. I'm actually so happy the community this song is influenced by/from finds the song nice and respectful. They did a good job with this one it sounds like and that just brings me so much joy.
the song is very fun and as a Latina I definitely feel the vibe. Not only in the mv but the choreography as well
I really love this title song, it kinda gives off a despacito vibe, I'm all for that summer vibe since we get a bit more sun these days!
Congrats that video got up and didn't get blocked!
as a dominican, the best way i could describe this song as urban latino. if i went down the street from my house, id hear this time of beating blasting out of someones house, or booming from someones car. its not stereotypical latino inspired, and i LOVE it
The whole album was so good
it's really a miracle that SM didn't block this reaction lmao
thats my favorite part of the song too! i love how wacky the video was, the transitions made it flow really well, it was just constantly moving from one scene to the other i love it so much ALSO renjun & jeno look stunning u r absolutely correct ALSO center haechan & the way he sang “babe” .. he really got me hELP SKJDKSKKSS loved ur reaction PD, thank u for this!!
We watched NCT's mv before it gets blocked, yeeey
WAIT WAIT WAIT...PD, PD, PD have you NEVER heard or reacted to NCT Dream "GO"...you have to check it out, it has a strong EDM influence! And its amazing!
can't wait for this listening party on patreon!! this album is SO GOOD
Okay so as a Mexican I was very surprised with this concept and song.
In my opinion it's done well with very minor details that are easy to overlook and well the song is a bop too.
as a Mexican/peruvian American I really enjoyed this song, it made me happy to see the latin influence like the menea para abajo part in the beginning
Making something completely new and fresh is the NCT
i've been waiting for this one TURN IT UPPPPPPP
Congrats for not being blocked!
so yeeeey it’s my time to shine as a latin/mexican fan! 🤩
ok out of jokes, yes I’m mexican (born and raised and lived my whole life here too) so I can explain a little about this.
I hope this can help :)
and also thank you for your reaction. I love my boys being praised
I don’t know what that little “debbebsbebededed” noise thingy is in the background but I LOVE IT and it made the song so unique
Love your videos!!!
finallyyy reax from sm artist!
This song have a lot of Afro beat influence, and also was composed by African people, that’s why it sounds like that ;p
ALBUM LISTENING PARTY!!! 💚
ahhhh would u do a listening party? the album is one if my fav nct albums ever!
As an latina, all i can say is= I love it, specially the vocal portions and jisung' break
i loved haechan and renjun dancing part too, it looks somethings pretty hispanic influenced, it's adorable
the only reaction youtuber i value
Talking about the music video, I really like the settings, mainly the one where they are in the street. It's not stereotypical but it really seems like any other street I'd find here in Brazil, so to me they nailed that!
Thank you for the reaction PD so proud of dreamies
At first listen i didn't like the song as much but, just like a lot of other nct songs, i became obsessed with it after a few more listens. The way they changed the second chorus so it doesn't become repetitive and take away the surprising aspect of the 1st chorus was a top tier choice
YEAYY I'M WAITING FOR PD REACTION!!♥
let's wish this vid won't get blocked
in terms of dream and screaming/shouting parts, GO has a LOT of that. common trend across all nct units lol
ITS NOT AND I AM SURPRISED TOO 🤣🤣
I’m happy!!
i miss NCT music in your videos, but is always interesting listen to your opinion about them.
My favorite part is the chorus like a yelling too, all the sets in this video are so colorful ,they have a basic mexican style but i liked them.
The video is so funny and the song is catchy,i really liked even though the don't talk abou food :)
*sorry for my english, i'm still learning*
I just listened to Hot Sauce and you uploaded. Wow the sync
I am a Mexican American who identified more as American as I was born and raised and I love this song. As many comments have said it wasn't offensive or distasteful. Such a great song so fun and unique very tasteful. This along with Suju and Chunghwa know how to make latin influenced songs.
