This is from a TV show where Art Farmer plays with Jim Hall and Steve Swallow on Bass. I forgot the name of the drummer. The concert is available on DVD.
Imagine the magic that goes from his brain to his fingers The speed with which he plays and the sensitivity with which he transmits his essence. And now she imagines how much magic is left in their brain when they die and that they still had more to give us...
That's the trouble: it's all science and no art. He displays no sense of composition and the result is this dreary muzak I play jazz guitar myself, but if I ended up playing like this I'd have to ask myself where I went wrong..
Is that the accountant on guitar?? Jim Hall’s intense swinging chord lines, four exquisite voicings to each bar, require even more focus and concentration!
@@antoinebrunelle5549 Hey thanks for the info! Cool that somebody knows what it really is. I googled it and found out it is a truly obscure accessory. Maybe I can get half a star for thinking "damper". Cheers
Crying, shaking, throwing up over how good you have to be to play that
Listen, I love Jim Hall's guitar playing but you've gotta chill💀💀💀
Not only is Jim’s work amazing this is some great camera footage!

Hearting touching song ..thank you for this Mr. Hall!
I don't mean to brag, but I've been playing the guitar for almost 50 years and I'm pretty sure I could play that last chord...
😂
how about the uh 30 other chords though? 🤣
Damn that was good.
Those chords are not in my Roy Clark Big Note Guitar Method.
I'd say! 🤣
Thank you!
Real music!
🙌🏾
You the man Ron, love your work with Jim and it’s awesome seeing you here
seems so simple, but there's a whole science behind what he is playing

@@hughtierneytierney3585 That‘s why you are a world-renowned guitar player while no one knows who the hell this Hall is.
@@yoga.ma.genova8591 Am I famous? I didn't realise.
@@hughtierneytierney3585 No one did!
@@hughtierneytierney3585 i would gladly end up like this. 😅😅. Jim Hall 🤘💯👍

Cool guitarrist
👏🏿👏🏿
the drummer is the late great Pete LaRoca
This was great . I like what the bassist is playing too. Anyone know who that is ?
Anyone know what the contraption attached to the headstock of his guitar is?
looks like a capo to me. Hardley ever used in jazz guitar- possibly it's some kind of damper.
It’s the Van Eps string damper

Herb Ellis used one too

Jim Hall is the most boring guitar player in jazz history
Ahhh So.....and have a nice day too....🤣
