I'm surprised they tested it during the day. I'm not sure how the shutdown affected this, if at all, but I would have expected them to test the train at night.
It’s quite rare to find a Sydney metro train in test during day time. Usually it happens in the morning or evening. I knew about that service & it didn’t come up on AnyTrip.
Is it just me or isn't it kinda rare to feature overhead power lines on a metro? Those tunnels must be so much larger compared to if it was a third rail. Isn't the major drawbacks with third rail fixed with platform screen doors?
All rail systems (as far as I know) use overhead power lines in Australia, so it's not so shocking for us. The tunnels are quite large in comparison to the train, as the tunnels at the two stations shown in this video were built before the metro and carried our regular (very large) suburban trains. Also the platform screen doors aren't to stop people from touching a third rail, it's because the system is completely driverless, since a train would not stop if someone was on the tracks, etc.
Was TS14 testing after any damage?
No. Just a normal test of the train after electronics repair. Just like a normal test.

The tunnels between Epping and Chatswood were originally built to the specifications of the bi level trains
