You are not wrong - the original does not have the repetition of "Hark the Herald" - this was Home Free's arrangement, and it was completely stunning. This has always been one of my favorite Christmas carols, but I've always heard it in the choir/congregation-singing-a-hymn style. This version has such such joy and triumph, it brought tears to my eyes. This actually is not the first Home Free song to do that. I am immediately going to add this version to my Christmas play list - and probably listen to it all year 'round. Thank you for sharing it with us!
Wow...wow this is beautiful. Home Free do so SO well with their more gospel-type music which is basically... country-fied hymns. Gospel is such a beautiful blend of the two and I know that's why Home Free are so good at this sort of stuff
For me, the most familiar version of this song starts with, "Merry Christmas Charlie Brown!" But regarding Home Free's creative arrangement, don't forget what they did with Do You Hear What I Hear. I love it when they tear down and rebuild. 🎅🎄😇
Yeah he repeated it in the ptx arrangement too that he did. And of course, it also has quite the percussion part. They never did a music video for that one though.
I loved it too as it was different and yet beautiful. Bastien showing off a little of “Austin” type riffs. Adam’s clapping was great! Loved the scenery too! Good one DJ! Wait til you see Santa Claus is coming to Town. It’s hilarious!
Hark the Herald Angels Sing should never be a dirge or sung slowly. It is triumphant and exultant. Home Free have arranged it to make it their own but the sense of joy is spot on for the original. Oh, and drums is highly appropriate too! Keep the reactions coming DJ ❤
Definitely check out their Full of Cheer and Cold Hard Cash. My favorite reactions of yours are those where you are either gobsmacked and/or laugh out loud.
I love the modern take on this version of a great classic Christmas song 😊 I can’t wait for you to react to their hilarious chaotic version of Santa Clause Is Coming To Town 😂
Chance interchanges with Tim on bass singing. You can see it in American Pie. Chance sings bass when Tim solos then goes back to baritone after Tim finishes. He also demonstrates his bass on Mayday where Tim is singing tenor, going into deep bass on his solo.
You definitely should react to the live version of Home Free Joy to the World. It is old and it never was put on an album (that I know of) but it is amazing.
From first time hearing this, had such a 'pop' feel it ceased to be the 'traditional' holiday song. Played it several times cuz it's a fun version that makes you want to move. When Bastien (bass TEEN) first joined HF, many felt his voice was too similar to Rob's but with each new release he seems to be coming into his own unique sound.
I'm guessing this is another great Darren Rust arrangement. Such an interesting take on this traditional song. Love the clapping percussion. And can we just talk about how fabulous they all look here?
My favorite covers on the album are oh come all ye faithful, the Christmas song, somewhere in my memory (home alone) and you mean one Mr. grinch. The whole album is beautiful! Thank you for your reaction.
This is a very well arranged song, and they put a lot of their own spin on it. I have to say I like the more up beat rhythm of this one. If you haven't yet seen their version of "Santa Clause is coming to town", YOU MUST see it. It is Hilarious !! So much fun and crazy. 😆😆 You have to do it !!!!
The "Carols by candlelight" very formal presentation would be a PTX version. HF's slightly unexpected chord progressions would never fit in that formal setting. And it is all the better for that.

They’re singing it exultantly and joyously instead of like a dirge and it’s awesome! Love these boys! ❤
I always like it when they take a classic song and put their own twist to it. Gotta love Rupp's clapping which adds a different element to it .

This is definitely a favourite for me. Ive been waiting for your reaction to this. Also, Let me come home. It left me speechless and full of tears ❤

Ben Bram did a very clever arrangement of this - the repeated Hark the Heralds at the beginning are him, not the standard version.
It’s Bram’s arrangement on a couple songs on this album, right?
They turned this into a celebration! 🎶🥰
@@itzel1735 Yes, this one and O Come All Ye Faithful.
@ thanks Sally.

Those aren't Austin riffs, they're Bastien's.
@@peggygross7409 I know they’re not Austin’s riffs. I was just comparing a little bit of Bastien’s riffs with what Austin used to do.
@@babyfry4775 of course, Austin and Bastien are both high tenors Their energy and styles are very different.
I do believe the low note that you were talking about was Rupp. His bass can get almost like Tim's. Love this version
Rupp is a tenor, it was probably Chance.
@lisamccartney7573 yes Rupp is a tenor, but he has a bass that is very low. But either way they sound amazing
❤❤❤❤❤ They all deserve all the Love

I really like this arrangement and they did a fantastic job with it!

Thank you for reacting to this beautiful Home Free Christmas Carol! 🎄🎁🤶
Ok. We're gonna, need you to pronounce bastiens name correctly. Bass-TEEN! 😂❤❤
Welcome to the #HomeFree spin.
Love it❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️

It sounded like Tim and Chance to me. If you listen closely Bastien, Chance and Rob were singing the same words.
You definitely should react to the live version of Home Free Joy to the World. It is old and it never was put on an album (that I know of) but it is amazing.
Yes! It is amazing and beautiful and Rob's lead is stunning!!

Nope. Ben Bram.
Same guy that won a Grammy for PTX.
@itzel1735 Hunh. Interesting.
@ It is. I know they know Ben from Sing Off, but I wonder how they chose it.

Love a Rob lead!! Long overdue for one! Wish it had been his lead the whole song.
Thanks DJ 😊
You might try Vanessa Williams version, it's a joyous gospel miracle!!
Also, the live Adam Rupp 2024 Christmas tour drum solo.
❤❤
Sounded like Tim and Chance to me.
Adam1's percussion is sassy in this one!
😀

I have to really warn you NOT to watch Geoff's new Christmas song "Carol of the Bells". You won't get through it whole.
Hark the herald angels shout! Ten more years 'till you get out! Ten more years till you are free from life's penitentiary!
They kind of overdid the whole Covid social distancing thing a couple times there.
❤❤❤❤❤ They all deserve all the Love
❤❤❤
