Back in the day when you were permitted to dig proper height faces, (15m-18m passes.) being able to see any large rocks in the crest of the face (which is/was out of reach.) was much more important than being able to more easily see a truck that you should know where it is. Don't worry, they've since changed that to suit the way they teach little girls to dig these days.
You wouldn’t see much if you were on that side because the cab is on the opposite side, all you see is the boom , you see the truck once the bucket is off the ground a bit , I always like the 996B because you couldn’t see the Truckie stuff it up coming into the dig face saves a lot of stress lol , Whoever’s in that digger needs to be retrained, stalling hydraulics when loading losing too much power lol
