One of the top five albums released in the last ten years in my opinion. Sonically the best of the three albums for sure. The first two will always hold a special place in my heart, but this is just what happens when you take talent, and wisdom focused together.
I have stepped up my rating of this album for sure. It is soooo good. I just pray for the day the a "4th" can be enjoyed. Also I wish I could get into my Semaj LaEnra account. lol
I discovered Portishead when I was 14. The music felt far too much for me to understand and digest, obviously. 2 years later I went back, I still couldn’t digest it. 2 years later, I went back again, still couldn’t. Then, at 21, I randomly got Magic Doors in my recommended one day and listened. I was blown away. I got up out of bed and played it so obnoxiously loud and was suddenly hooked. My personal favorite today is their self titled, but who knows? Maybe I’m still not ready to fully digest and understand the Third.
What are ur other 4 top ten albums of all time ? I never heard this til now, although I loved them the best in the first 2 this is like bad radio head I can’t even take it n9 vocals yet omg
The video and music work well together. They both demonstrate what I love about Portishead: not too much going on, but through that stillness, there's a creepy, hypnotic, beauty. Terrific!
I love Portishead and I love each and every talented individual that worked on this production. They are marvelous!! I wish I could clone them so that I could work with them - where are people like this hiding out? Totally innovative - Thank you for posting this!!
i downloaded thirds sometime last year, but it was such a great album i had to buy it! its too bad that we have to wait another decade for another one to come out
Yes these dudes are just so original and unique. Love visiting Bristol and love the deep and dark sounds from the city. My personal favorites are Portishead, Massive Attack, Tricky, Kosheen, Smith and Mighty, Up Bustle and Out, AllFlaws
really cool video! thans for sharing! it's crazy how much "kraut" they are... especially in the first song. one of the few band that not only talks about roots and inspiration but leading them into new forms and shapes. very academic by the way. i love them!
Thank you Portishead for being in my life, your music transpires through my soul. This is an awesome video. PLEASE COME TO MIAMI I WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU LIVE!!!!
I liked this video one very much and altogether Portishead - it was showed that open and experiment they were able to be left over. Congratulations!
A mai napig helyt áll, sőt mêg mindig előre mutat!!! Greets from Hungary!
I agree with you. You are very perceptive. Sometimes certain notes are hit in such a way that it does take you to higher plane. I used to take long walks and listen to Portishead and Radiohead and everything went with the scenery. I love to take roadtrips to them too.
I went to Portishead once in the early 1970's, a party were everyone was totally out their heads on LSD! Ended up on the pebble beach in the dark, The music reminds me of that night! exactly what it was like!
I absolutely love that in their live appearances they actually try to replicate the record rather than cheating and just pressing samples from time to time. Makes it so much more exciting!
Hi DeadFaceBoy, Portishead is also a place where some of the band grew up, sounds like you thought I was saying I went a portishead gig in 1970! I went to a party in the place! and the vibe of that party reminds me of this music, very tripped out, like being in Portishead on acid! There may have been a pocket of mind blowing creative stuff going on in the place stretching back years which led to the band forming and doing the last thing you'd expect from a band called Portishead!
can not wait to see you at the Exit Festival 2011 .... trinity trip-hop Bristol will be in Serbia .... This is incredible news for people who grow up in portishead
Thank you for blowing my mind once more!. i must have listened to that video about 7 times over the last yr and half, It Just Keeps on getting BETTER......... a classic bunch of indaviduals making sweet audio gloop for my brain... :P
My favourite band too... love all your songs, just awesome! I've seen Portishead in Oporto and in Zambujeira do Mar (just Beth) and next time you'll be in Portugal, I'll be there. Congratulations and never stop creating ;)
WOW! Thanks for this incredible post, I had never seen this clip before, and I thought I was the ultimate Portishead fan/groupie/admirer etc....Cheers!
Portishead and Opeth are the only two I can think of who really can do that anymore. A lot of old old bands could do it, but now there's so much help in the studio, most bands don't really need to know what they're doing anymore.
THE Best Band with the most individual sound, talent! Waited for soooo long for P3! When should we expect another cd Soon? Come to Fort Lauderdale, Florida or Miami...PLEASE!
narration at the beginning of the song (originally in Portuguese of Brazil): "Be alert for the rule of three What you offer will return to you This lesson you must learn You only earn what you deserve"
Love the video, love the music, love beth, love portishead. never enjoyed with a video as Im enjoying right now, later i will just listen to the music with my eyes closed and my beloved friend mariaXD.
Resurrecting psychedelia, bringing to live old harmonics from their past mystery to new ways of subtle imagination. This is again, Portishead, few steps ahead from everybody else.
Thank GOD for you finding this!! I was fliping through channels one day and saw this, then stopped everything I was doing. Is there anything sexier than Beth Gibbons singing?
yes I know most people feel like that. The music feels so intense to me that I don't really need lyrics - there is so much feeling in the music alone - and for me a stronger feeling than Beth's voice, wich often takes me away from my "music-feeling"
I love Portishead. I didn't like Third much at all when I first got it but it's really grown on me. "Hunter" is probably the one I listen to the most. I think I like some of the instrumentation on this video a little better. I don't remember the vocalist singing in the bridge of "Hunter" on the CD.

I have a reliable source that told me God himself considers this as one of the greatest creations from his creations. True Story. Be not of this World

This album is in my car's CD player right now - after a number of listens I seem to like it more and more.
Came back to this after a year and a half or so. Blown away again. It's like a return to another planet in a parallel universe.
really cool video! thans for sharing!

SO glad they are coming back. I still listen to their last two record regularly.

Of all the artists that could be featured on youtube, I would least expect Portishead. So awesome!
Brilliant !!!!
Having attended the same school(occasionally) I once did a gig in this drama block...sadly it was not in the same league.
PORTISHEAD. WAY ahead of their time.
Wowww, the outro of Threads in this performance made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Haunting
I went to Portishead once in the early 1970's, a party were everyone was totally out their heads on LSD!

Tears on tears.. Tired and worn..
Let me self-isolate with "Portishead in Portishead" and "Scotch Mist." Mastery.
Scotch Mist, faust arp
You can hear the "Rhythm Guitar" chords in Silence much better than in most performances.
wow portishead being featured!!! this is amazing!! never ever ive seen this comming!
at last a good featured video!
Portishead is definitely defined on their own terms and no one else'. Beautiful haunting music.
been a fan since 97!!
This is amazing i love this video, please come back to barcelona!!!! love the drums and percutions!!!
Portishead and Opeth are the only two I can think of who really can do that anymore. A lot of old old bands could do it, but now there's so much help in the studio, most bands don't really need to know what they're doing anymore.
i find it funny how people give

I love the third song's beat.
I remember when I saw this on Current. After loving the band's first two albums and hearing this, I just HAD to own this album.
Portishead one of the best bands EVER!!!! Love you guys so damned much! Nobody Loves Me.......it's true
1 band can never have 2 many instruments. still light years ahead. great post.

Third is way heavier, way more experimental, and ethereal. Is just an amazing album.
AMAZING BAND!!!
Incredibly unique and inspiring.
We need more creativity in music!!
narration at the beginning of the song (originally in Portuguese of Brazil):
"Be alert for the rule of three
What you offer will return to you
This lesson you must learn
You only earn what you deserve"
I got this album a couple of weeks ago. It's really good.
I go to this school and they never told us about this!!! ARGHHH!!!
Love the video, love the music, love beth, love portishead. never enjoyed with a video as Im enjoying right now, later i will just listen to the music with my eyes closed and my beloved friend mariaXD.

UAU!

My old school.... ;_;
i love this album.
U guys r the BEST!!!!
Excellentissime.
Merci pour cet ajout.
I’m afraid this Is the only full video of the performance.
Wow, that was amazing...
I love Portishead. I didn't like Third much at all when I first got it but it's really grown on me. "Hunter" is probably the one I listen to the most. I think I like some of the instrumentation on this video a little better. I don't remember the vocalist singing in the bridge of "Hunter" on the CD.
You should never expect the same from a band, they will only disapoint you then.... the new album is a new classic for a new era in my opinion.
big ups to portishead for not selling out and feeding us bulls$it..good music to sit smk and chill word!!
Houston, we have a problem..
Great vid. :>
Exactly. I love the album to death, but this just can't be beat.
2007, but filmed in a way that you would think it's 80-s.
beth is the sexiest singer.....and she doesn't even try to be sexy....it's just her voice....it's amazing.
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE IT!
haha I used to go up portishead quite abit its well posh.
just amazing
great... great... great....
what more can i say
@georgemc25 Absolutely, and with this album, it's remarkable to see how "live" it really is.
this vid just helped me get through a shitty day :-)
LOVE 'EM!
