Love the oyster stew.. use to make it for my father. He always wanted his soup a little creamy, so I would add flour, salt , corn starch to a little cold water then bring my stew to a boil then add the slurry. Turn fire down to let the stew cook a little. Yummy.

Happy New Year! Granny’s prayer was really sweet. A sweet tradition singing happy Birthday to Jesus.❤ Our tradition is that we read Luke 2:1-20 before we open our gifts. That started when I was little and I told my precious MawMaw the story of Jesus’ birth and then when I learned to read we read it from the Bible and the children in the family always read it every year ever since.

I hadn't thought about "Christmas Gift" in years, but that was what my grandfather said every time he walked in the door to visit no matter what the time of year was. Brought back great memories. I love your tablecloths and all the crocheted items. I crochet so I appreciate the work that goes into each piece. Love your sweater too. What a sweet blessing Granny said! Granny reminds me of my grandmother who I called Gramp (and now that's what my grands call me). My Gramp wore crocheted hats just like Granny.
We have Christmas cards from when I was very young…I cut ends out of different size cans that would fit our cards. And I took yarn and wrapped around the cans and put the cards opened up around the yarn and displayed our cards that way… granny has a beautiful. So does Paul.
I'm still at work until 9pm , hopefully I don't get to busy so I can set here and watch the whole thing lol😅 If not then I'll be back & forth I promise!
Thanks for the singing. I miss hearing my Wife singing, especially this time of the year. Brings a tear of joy (with a little sadness because of times gone). Visiting with the Children and Grandchildren was great and they all gave me a big hug. - makes one feel loved.

The duet with Granny and Paul was beautiful. Never heard the “Christmas Gift” game before. I have my roots in Tennessee, but grew up in Florida, now live in South Carolina for many years. The food looks wonderful.
So proud of my family. My uncle and aunt (86 and 83) hosted 25--three children, eight grands, eight great grands, plus husbands, wives, boyfriends and me. My uncle and I grew up in a monoculture, but the family now warmly embraces Mexican, African-American and Asian cultures. Hugs, laughter, chatter, squeals of the great grands opening presents. Wish everybody could have an equally wonderful Christmas.

My Mother's family were from western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee and they always called it dressing, so I do too, but many people that live around me call it stuffing. and act like they have never heard it called dressing! You know, it really helped me adjust my perspective when I heard you say, "All we have left to do is..." because every year I think, "Why can't I get this all done earlier and have the day before Christmas just be easy peasy relaxation," but some things a body just can't do to much early before Christmas day! It just felt kind of good to know that I am not the only one still doing things to get ready the day before Christmas! ❤❤❤
I love your tradition of the birthday muffins for Jesus. When my daughter was little we told her the story of Jesus birth 28:59 and the three gifts Jesus received. She was three and just new to Sunday School and she told that story to her little friends. She decided that she would like only three gifts,too. From that Christmas on she always thought carefully about the three gifts she would like. Her friends lists would be pages long and her page only three. Your Christmas looked so much fun. Hope you all have many many more years together.

Mama made oyster stew often. She would save the little pearls she’d find and put them in empty pimento jars and hide them away in her cupboard. So there’s something about your lifestyle of a time I never knew but it’s memories are embedded in my mind and heart as if very familiar even tho not something I personally experienced….if that makes sense ❤I know it’s because there’s something in the life of the Pressleys that mirrors my mom’s having had been born and raised in Appalachia from 1933-1950’s before moving to Northern Ohio😢😊❤~Kathy
