The Lucchese goat skin are some of my favorites. They patina extremely well and they are tough yet supple. Naturally resistant to scratching and moisture due to the natural lanolin. Awesome choice!!
CJ Cook also another piece of useful knowledge. The mad dog is not a type of goat its the coloring/burnishing process they use on the goat skin. In case you didn’t already know 👍🏻

I started buying red wing because all of my other work boots where made with that wonderful lining, that is the first thing that failed irreplaceable in every single boot. The advantage was to have just the minimal amount of lining. I don't understand why red wing is discontinuing so many long lasting quality boots to replace them with lower quality. The Weekender for example is a funny boot, but a merchant can ten times more often be resoled. I'm not sure if they head the right direction. Maybe you can drop some inside knowledge if there will be more quality in the future?
I just purchased a pair after watching this video... I cant wait to see them. My only other experience with ropers is Tevocas which are a very nice boot. When I was selecting color, they have two “Tan” colors and chocolate. I did not see chocolate tan as an option (purchased directly from Lucchese). I wonder if that was because I was in mobile mode. Anyway I selected chocolate, I hope I’m happy with the color as I really liked the ones you showed in this video. CJ... any chance you can show a picture of the color on the side of the box in case I want to exchange mine?
I wear Alden and Red Wing boots year round. If I worked outside, I could see a lined boot in Winter. I also wear Lucchese boots year round unless snowy outside.
the first thing i do with a new pair of boots is step in whatever mud/dirt i can find. I don't like the worry i have about getting them scratched and dirty, just easier for me to get it over with.
Keep the Lucchese coming! The Classics line is the top of the line Lucchese. You can normally tell them by the arrow design on the bottom pull loops. That may be why these didn't come with the card or the bag. I wouldn't know though because I buy all my boots used.
Man... I've been wanting something in briar pretty bad. Doesn't make any sense. They're available in wide, one of the few Mocs that are. Can't seem to find the 3141 in stock as well.
Man, I'd be stacking my Brave Stars up to my calfs to show those bad boys off. Doesn't show your badass tailoring but, does show that ridiculously off the hook leather.
@@boriskrivitsky3142 I was thinking about that the other day as well...🤔 I don't remember if it was a comment someone made with a recommendation or if I stumbled upon them doing research.
@@CJCook I mean is the heel counter made of leather? My bad. Western boots are traditionally have a piece of bark tanned leather sewn into the back. This makes it only have a thick piece of veg tan then the outer leather layer instead of a piece of liner, counter, outer. I hope I’m explaining this clearly enough.
I wear 8.5 d in iron rangers and moc toe redwing wings but not sure if I should buy the 8.5 d or 9e in the 1188 pecos. What size do you wear in iron rangers, moc toe? And in pecos?

That is so cool! The texture on the leather is pretty sick!
Glad I have a pair of 8146's from 2008,with Red Wing stamped on the ankle
Red wing better be making some new models with new leathers if they keep getting rid of classics.

Yeah, I am baffled by some of their decisions.
In Texas we pronounce it “Lou Casey”
Lol
Never heard it the way you said it but I’m sure that’s how it’s supposed sound

Nice, that is a good way to do it.
Thanks for posting this C.J., roughnecks are getting harder and harder to find, now i know why. so i grabbed a pair from sheels before they ran out.

I love red wing and lucchese boots …
at least you didn't quit at the bummer part
Darn it... What about the Roughneck 2942's in Copper Rough and Tough? gone as well? Great Video as always, solid information!
The 2942s are staying.
@@CJCook Wow, crazy. Happy to hear that. I could see the liner being useful in more colder climates like you said about the Sawmill.
Lucchese boots are really nice. Will you be trying some different leathers like alligator or ostrich
When I visit a Lucchese store and see the exotic leathers in person I will probably purchase one.
Red wing pecos are my favorites
@CJ Cook Can you comment on your LUCCHESE size vs Red wing size ? Im looking to get into my 1st pair of LUCCHESEs and need some advice.
Hello Boris, If you own a pair or Red Wing Moc Toes size the Lucchese's the same way.
@CJCook Thanks for the info. Looks like im getting into another brand thanks in part to you. Im curious how you got from Red wing to Lucchese ?
@@boriskrivitsky3142 I was thinking about that the other day as well...🤔 I don't remember if it was a comment someone made with a recommendation or if I stumbled upon them doing research.
Beautiful boot. After looking at the Lucchese web site, it's a tough decision between the chocolate tan and the honey colored versions for me.
Yeah, the Tan is on my list for sure.
A fantastic looking casual leather 👌
Yeah, I am loving these! Thank you
Red Wing keeps discontinuing all the best boots......like the Beckman, spitfire leather Blacksmith, ect
I am not a big fan of the roper stye boot...but I'll admit those are pretty sweet...
Indeed!
Would not cowhide be more durable than goat?
Goat doesn't patina as nicely as cowhide.
Goat is strongman supple, smoother than cow hide.
Loo-kay-zee is how you pronounce the brand name in America but if you want to sound Italian then you say Luh-keh-zeh.
Gorgeous pair of boots. Any recommendations on sizing? I'm a 9.5-10 US but have never had some boots like this

How are the sizing on cowboy boots compared to red wings?
Size as you would your moc toes
Chocolate, Tan? Doesn't Chocolate Melt if attempting to Tan 🤔
Strange Color, I wonder how they pulled that one off 😂
Do these have the hard leather insole and heel counter?
Yes, they have a leather insole. Hard heel counter? I would call it stiff.
