Has anybody seen the mickey cartoons on TH-cam? I really don't get how anybody could argue that they're funnier than Bugs' stuff.
Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny is like Marvel vs. DC or Disney vs. Warner Bros. You're never going to satisfy anyone. Though personally I perfer Bugs Bunny.
Lol totally agree and I am fan off Marvel, DC, Disney, Warner Bros, Bugs and Mickey. But where I like Marvel and Disney more, I love Bugs Bunny. He's one of my favourite cartoon characters ever.
I think that 1-3 are irreplaceable, Spongebob Squarepants Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse in no specific order. 4-10 can be anything with a good argument, but some very valuable mentions are Scooby, Homer, Peter, Snoopy, Tom & Jerry, Courage (a lot of dogs lol), Fred Flintstone, Goofy, Zim, Timmy Turner, Fin, Yogi Bear, the Smurfs... I could go on and on, I APOLOGIZE if I missed some larger ones, and I tried to include more 2000s shows because you gotta give them credit.

It doesn't matter who's better known or who was first...Bugs Bunny is way funnier than Mickey and that's all that matters...Why would I want to watch an iconic cartoon that's not even funny?
Of course Bugs Bunny is number 1, he is the big bang of cartoon popularity. Furthermore, Cartoon Network still shows his cartoons, some of which date as far back as 1949.
Wow, Mickey at number 2? I'm very surprised, he's practically a worldwide symbol for American culture. I'm gonna guess Bugs Bunny is number 1. Am I right? I'll find out in two seconds...
Bugs Bunny rules! Sadly I think most kids today aren't very familiar with Bugs. Mickey Mouse is still a household name after all these years, but Bugs seems to have drifted away. I guess that's cause the Disney characters are more kid-friendly compared to the slapstick violent-prone Looney Tunes. That, plus the fact that since the Back in Action movie flopped at the box office more than a decade ago, the people running Warner Bros. these days think the Looney Tunes are ancient history.

No way Peter Griffin is more iconic or a better character than Optimus Prime. Transformers is at least 10 times more popular than the garbage fire Family Guy has become. It's not even a close call, Peter is in top 50 on a good day but Optimus is in top 10 for sure.
I think he was left off because he originated in children's books and not in animation. Fun fact: I was obsessed with Winnie the Pooh for some years when I was little, and began to lose interest when I was about seven or eight, in part because I was becoming more interested in other cartoons (especially Pokémon), and also because it was around the time that Disney started marketing Pooh to babies, toddlers, and girls. (Gender roles, how I hate you.) If only I could've seen how popular My Little Pony has become with teen boys and young adult men... (Disney, are you reading this? I think I've found your next merchandising campaign to counter Bronies.)

I know them, but I dont know why lol. Its just one of those things you just know. I Remember I used to watch them, when I was little, but I cant even remember
Thorus Zwolf I think they're looking specifically on screen,, not overall cultural impact. If it was overall cultural impact you'd be right. But Looney Toons is so much bigger than any tv production disney put out with mickey mouse.
bugs bunny is my favourite. i do also like spongbob and the simpsons. but this list is about most iconic characters, i would put mickey mouse at the top
I know this video is a year old but still... How is Winnie the Pooh not here? I mean, I know he originated in books, but as a character he pre-dated Micky Mouse and has been in numerous cartoons over the years.
Bob Bobman True.. true.. :^) And I've just read (payed attention to): "I know he originated in books" and "pre-dated Micky Mouse", I see.. I honestly thought he was a Disney-original..
Arab Katib Actually Disney bought all rights to the character in the 1960's but he'd been around for a while by then. So he's not really 100% a "Disney" character.
thats true and a good point. Im not disagreeing bugs should be on there, i grew up with him and love him! But mickey is known world wide. you can find more merchandise that you would ever know what to do with online and other just from his iconic ears. He also has his iconic theme song. SerbStar2011
SerbStar2011 I agree about that, but Mickey is older and he is the face of cartoon, he's the first thing we represent when thinking about cartoon... And America's not the center of the world, Mickey is by far more known worldwide than Bugs Bunny...
WayneAnime Why would you think that? Charlie Brown, Archie, Casper the Friendly Ghost... They're all comics. It's not remotely obvious that they define "comics" as specifically superhero comics.
I thought they said no comics (such as Batman). However, Charlie Brown and Garfield both started out in comic strips. Garfield wasn't animated 'till years later.
I would make say my own top ten but then it would be quite biast. Nearly (if not all) the list would be Looney Tunes chracters. P.S. Bugs Bunny should be 1 to all people who disagree. Much more entertaining than Mickey Mouse.
Joe Horne This isn't the top 10 most entertaining cartoon characters. This is the top 10 most ICONIC cartoon characters. Do you honestly think Bugs Bunny can compete with THIS? cliparts.co/cliparts/pio/A6p/pioA6pxoT.png
TheFinalChapters yes, Bugs Bunny can compete with this, and still win. While Mickey may be more iconic than Bugs, Looney Tunes as a whole are WAY more iconic than the Disney Cartoons.
+Joe Horne This is not about entertaining. This is about the massive impact they have had in our culture, let alone society. And Mickey Mouse, without a doubt, had that charm by miles over Bugs.
no chip and dale, no popeye, no winnie the pooh, no gummy bears or care bears, no smurfs... there were a couple of the characters on the list that shouldn't have been there.
GamingTV. like betty boop... maybe she was a big thing... but i don't see her like an ICON now... optimus prime... i'm not sure he is top 10.. top 20 for sure, top 15 - probably. but not top 10. spongebob... i'm not sure either. is he iconic? he is pretty new. very famous for sure, but iconic? probably, probably not. who knows after 15 years what his status will be? look i like those characters too, but i just think there are other that are more ICONIC than them and deserve more to be in the top 10 Iconic Characters

When I was a kid Mickey was a toy who happened to be on TV once or twice. Bugs was all over the place, I saw so many of his cartoons! In my mind Bugs has a more pervasive presence in our society.
I agree. Except I don't
Lol totally agree and I am fan off Marvel, DC, Disney, Warner Bros, Bugs and Mickey. But where I like Marvel and Disney more, I love Bugs Bunny. He's one of my favourite cartoon characters ever.
Superman Clark Kent ❤
Bugs and Mickey should be the other way round, no one in the western world doesn't know who Mickey is!
Who is bugs?
Bugs bunny
Plus he is the face of the worlds biggest animation companies.
Yeah, the most recognisable character in the world should probably have been number one really.
but he does´t have any personality trades, he is just animated and that's it, Bugs on the other hand
SB smashes the top 10 but not the top 3 I reckon
Even though there great cartoons Courage and Zim aren't really iconic

It could be because of the post-season 3 episodes.

Mickey Mouse revolutionized the animation industry since 1928 and his ears alone is more recognizable than Bugs lol and he is a world icon and the world stopped for Mickey's 50th birthday that never happened to Bugs right.
Homer Simpson should not be in this list. He’s an adult cartoon character! That should be in a different list.
@@Mrcharles. How??
2 notable omissions: Ren & Stimpy and Chip & Dale.

If you don't think that Ren & Stimpy were iconic, then I feel very sorry for you.

@@m56214 they definitly aren't iconic on the degree of the characters in this list. And Ren and Stimpy wasn't really a kids cartoon it was just shown on kids programing and bordered the line between dumb enough for kids but smart enough for adult humor
Bugs will never be more iconic than Mickey.
Mickey's ears alone are more known than Bugs lol
The world stopped for a moment just to celebrate Mickey's 50th Birthday.
Bugs? Nope.

Here’s a question, what is Mickeys catchphrase?
I love everyone on this list, even the honorable mentions, but my personal favorite is Tom and Jerry.
Yay! Tom and Jerry FTW :D

Of course Bugs Bunny is number 1, he is the big bang of cartoon popularity. Furthermore, Cartoon Network still shows his cartoons, some of which date as far back as 1949.

Mickey Mouse is even older and still relevant though

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Winnie the Pooh. Back at his peak he used to gross around 6 billion dollars a year, no joke.
Wow. Yellow bears back then.
He was originally a book character.
He only got a few show unlike the others but yeah he's iconic too
I think he was left off because he originated in children's books and not in animation.

JESSICA RABBIT COULD HAVE BEEN THERE SHE IS NOT ICONIC BUT SHE I JUST LIKE BETTY BOOP

Honestly this list was pretty good, but I think 1 and 2 should be swapped.
I like Buggs Bunny (AKA Efrum the retarded rabbit) more than Mickey, but Mickey is way more of an icon than Buggs is
Thorus Zwolf I think they're looking specifically on screen,, not overall cultural impact. If it was overall cultural impact you'd be right. But Looney Toons is so much bigger than any tv production disney put out with mickey mouse.
#1 mickey mouse,#2 bugs bunny this has to be swapped because mickey mouse is so iconic
bugs bunny is my favourite. i do also like spongbob and the simpsons. but this list is about most iconic characters, i would put mickey mouse at the top
In terms of cartoons, bugs, but in the case of worldwide influence, Mickey.
Thank God Bugs Bunny was number 1
I know this video is a year old but still... How is Winnie the Pooh not here? I mean, I know he originated in books, but as a character he pre-dated Micky Mouse and has been in numerous cartoons over the years.
Bob Bobman Dude, if you gana cram Disney characters in there? Snow White will beat Winnie the Pooh.. seriously.. That gal is well known even on Mars..
Arab Katib Well I would consider her more of a fairytale character than cartoon character.
Bob Bobman True.. true.. :^)
And I've just read (payed attention to): "I know he originated in books" and "pre-dated Micky Mouse", I see.. I honestly thought he was a Disney-original..
Arab Katib Actually Disney bought all rights to the character in the 1960's but he'd been around for a while by then. So he's not really 100% a "Disney" character.
I don't believe Winnie the Pooh shouldn't be part of the list so I think WatchMojo just forgot about him.Bob Bobman
MICKEY MOUSE #2 ????? Come on !!!! He's THE face of cartooon !!!! Bugs Bunny should be #2 !!!
totally agreed!!!!
thats true and a good point. Im not disagreeing bugs should be on there, i grew up with him and love him! But mickey is known world wide. you can find more merchandise that you would ever know what to do with online and other just from his iconic ears. He also has his iconic theme song. SerbStar2011
SerbStar2011 AND WELCOME TO THE JAM
SerbStar2011 I agree about that, but Mickey is older and he is the face of cartoon, he's the first thing we represent when thinking about cartoon... And America's not the center of the world, Mickey is by far more known worldwide than Bugs Bunny...
You guys probably won’t believe me but I’m related to the guy who plays Homer. He’s my great Uncle.
Wait seriously
Charlie Brown should have been excluded since, by Mojo's own explanation, the Peanuts "originated and are most closely associated with comics."
And Mojo shows Alvin & the Chipmunks as having run from 1983-90, but their first show ran from 1961-62 (as The Alvin Show).
WayneAnime
Why would you think that? Charlie Brown, Archie, Casper the Friendly Ghost... They're all comics. It's not remotely obvious that they define "comics" as specifically superhero comics.
WayneAnime Alright. I'll give you that. Comic strips and comic books aren't the same things. You win. ;)
WayneAnime You cleared it up for me too.
My Top 5
1. Bugs Bunny
2. Spongebob
3. Stewie Griffin
4. Scooby-Doo

Joe Horne "While Mickey may be more iconic than Bugs"
I'm glad we've come to an agreement. This is about Mickey and Bugs, not anything else.
