Hi, Judy! I'm traveling sparingly but it's okay, I still am finding fresh fields for more things to show. I'm glad you get to come along! Part two Saturday 8 pm Eastern
I always learn so much from you and today was no exception. It's so interesting to see the different types of things that are sold in your area. Funny how different things are popular in different areas.
George, I am sure people would be surprised if they traveled the interior areas of Florida and saw the amount of farmland and wintering thoroughbreds. Arabian horses and many breeds are bred there. This is a killer mall! I see pottery, bookends, Glo-Hill, etc. I can’t stop drooling. Thanks as always.
My pleasure, I always am glad to see you in the comments! I was surprised by Okeechobee as well, seeing a Brahma Bull there was a highlight the first time. It is a good mall. I'm sad so many great places in Louisville have gone out in the past 6 months...I hear Derby City Mall is closing now too.
The Antique Nomad the unemployment numbers in Kentucky are devastating. Bardstown is at 20%. The St. Vincent de Paul thrift store is a ghost town. They moved several workers to the busy food pantry. The extent of the fallout will be uneven throughout the state. Looks like selling antiques & collectibles in KY will go online. I don’t know how flea markets and auctions will be effected. 6 months will provide a better picture. Anyone’s guess. You Tube is a good platform to be involved in.
Great video. Love the descriptions you give of so many varied items. I love cameos and samplers. That sampler made me gasp. Now how to get to Florida during this insane pandemic. Thanks for a great video.
I'm not sure how, but people must be driving there, there's been some traffic much to my surprise! I love cameos as well, and the sampler was unusual for being in the era and place it was, and for being by such a young girl!
Not your fault, I tried three times before I could get it to upload so I didn't get it on until 3 hours late! I'm working on the second part now so it'll definitely be ready for Saturday at 8 pm Eastern
I am enjoying various Antique market video presentations in You Tube from those of Flea Markets in Italy, France, London, etc. I think among the presentations yours is the best. Mostly they do the walking with some shots of the products but yours is very in depth presentation with very good explanations of the history, significance and even the estimated prices of the items. Your camera man is very good. His hand is not trembling and the shots are clear. Bravo... Well done indeed. Keep it up. I'll be a fan and follower from now.
Thank you! I really appreciate that. I actually had to shoot this one on my own, the cameraman is much better than I am. I'd love to know who you watch at the European flea markets. I hope also that you'll like, subscribe and tell your friends!
Always support people who repurpose closed businesses like Designers Consigner. Its cool that you can clearly see the old gas station! In Canada I have been collecting White Rose oil and gas company memorabilia that was 100% Canadian because of their distinctive and unique White Rose that I remember as a child. They were completely absorbed by Shell in mid 1960’s.
Interesting turquoise information about the Bisbee mine that I never heard before. Also the cameos were pretty. I noticed some blue cameos and was wondering what material they are made out of. Looking forward to your Saturday bonus video. Glad you specified when you post your videos. That really helps us figure out when to look for a notification. Thank you for another great video.
Matrix! Yes, that's right. I really need to bone up on my gemological terms, I lack training in that area but I love the stones. I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Wow!!!! I love tour videos! You are a veritable walking, talking encyclopedia!! And you are soooo right I’ve never seen an antique store like that!! Their jewelry is definitely heart stopping!! But you did not spend enuff time on your stuff there!! I would have loved to see your jewelry there--shipping would be very cheap! Lol. So get back there and refill it!!! Lol
I love that pretty yellow box with the key and the cameo shell next to it. Doll house furniture? That is something that I originally got into to make a connection with my mother and it turns out I really do like the beautiful things I can make/create including the actual house. Thanks for sharing this and you have a wonderful day and safe travels
Great video, George! I live in Florida and had never heard about Webb's City. I would have loved to have seen that place! That antique mall is wonderful. Your space was terrific!
Thank you! I wish I'd been old enough to see Webb's City in its prime, it was really something. I hope you get in to visit the malls if you feel safe going out, they're glad to be open and dealers are bringing new stock now
Drooling over all the jewelry. Wow... Loved the Helmsing (sp?) night light. I would use that. Great outdoor scene. Fyi, I still have the Russel Wright Iroquois dishes I grew up with. They are blue.
Found a piece of Treasure craft at an antique mall today....it was so exciting since I have only been following you for about 6 months....thank you for these videos....from a rusty junker since the 70's...:^)
My pleasure! I'm hopeful that a collegial community of informed and interested collectors from the online world will also discover real world antiquing for themselves
Hi, Cheryl! I had them at low eBay prices but you could have 20 percent off any of them! The mall is right in St Pete at 24th and ML King. I think I’ll be down next week but I can arrange for them to do that for anytime
Horse gal here- that particular saddle has modern plastic stirrups- great for safety, not so great for authenticity :) The second saddle had what are called tapaderos, which are also for safety for young riders so your foot doesn't go through the stirrup... and yes, they can be on parade saddles as well for show. What to look for? First, you have to know if the tree is good or not. A broken tree makes a saddle almost worthless. The tree is the main support and it is made of wood or fiberglass and can be cracked or broke in half- making it very unsafe. If you have a western child's saddle that is a Roy Rodgers, Hopalong Cassidy, or other singing cowboy style saddles, those can be highly collectible. A plane-jane vintage children's saddles like this one sell for about $50... they have to have more studs and styling to get into the $100's. BTW- because I am a teacher- the front part of is called the pommel and the thing in front isn't to hold on to- it was for your rope when you are roping and is called the horn. The part in back where you sit is called the cantle. To measure the size of the saddle, measure from the pomel to the cantle. A child's seat should be 12", a youth seat is 14", and a typical WESTERN saddle is 16" but I have seen them as large as 20" for really large people. Another factor is gullet size 6" to 8" - typically is 6.5"- that is the size across the round front of the saddle under the horn where the horse or poney's shoulders go... if it is VERY narrow 5" to 6" it is a donkey saddle and could be worth for a bit more because they are harder to find. Leather condition is everything- but many people have been known to recondition them and make them new again with new parts but it is hard work and takes solid knowledge of what your doing. The second saddle you showed is a lot more desirable... just be sure it has all of the studs all the way around it.
This is excellent information! I've mainly sold them as decoration, your info is really useful to me and I appreciate it. I've heard a few of these terms but did not know tapaderos at all, and I didn't realize the donkey saddles were narrower in the gullet. I'm also glad to find out that the second saddle was more desirable, I honestly as a novice to the field might have thought the first if it wasn't for the tapaderos. Thank you for your knowledge, I started this channel to help spread love and appreciation for antiques and vintage through education...but I didn't realize how much more I would learn in the process.
@@TheAntiqueNomad I have been learning SOOO much from you that I thought I would return the favor! Saddles are just like any collectible though... it is all about name of maker, quality of the piece, and condition. Happy Trails!
Bisbee is as unique at its turquoise. One of my absolutely favorite cities here in Arizona. The antiques malls there are stunning! So much history ❤️❤️
I Really liked this video, you showed the pieces clearly, and slow enough for us to get a good look, you explained prices which is extremely helpful, especially for any of us wanting to resale. Very nice George! The only thing is at the end, you kind of sounded rushed. Looking forward to part 2, and maybe 3. Ha ha.
@@TheAntiqueNomad just take your time, your followers will always follow. Doesn't matter if it comes out today, tomorrow or the next day. Maybe shorten your video's, just like 5 or 10 minutes, I have a hard time staying on videos if they go too long, (not talking about yours), but you might notice a viewer difference. Really loved how you covered the costume jewelry, the real jewelry, and that beautiful glass. I have a few cameos like you showed, if you want to think about consignment, I could mail to you. Ok, I wrote enough. Keep it up George.
Shawn Blevins have to respectfully disagree, I get frustrated with short videos of say 10/15 minutes and always want a bit more. Nothing wrong with 35/40 minutes.
That was fascinating! I continue to say I learn so much from you, but you sure are one smart dude! Loved how you said the swamp root was a way to drain the swamp! That was a good one! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with us!
I'm glad that struck you the way it did me, Swamp Root is a great and terrible product. So glad to have you watching, part two is Saturday 8 pm Eastern
I love head vases ! I sell jewellery on Etsy and hand jewellery ie hand earrings, pair of hands brooches sell v well - it seems like body parts are popular currently !
Love the St. Petersburg videos! Can’t remember if I already told you, but my brother in law and his family are moving there at the end of June. They’re buying a beach house across from The Pink Palace! I may be a little, or a lot jealous. 😂 Also, I’m interested in that Vinoy hotel plate, if it’s still there when you go back! 😍
Im always astounded at your knowledge of ALL things. I really enjoy watching your videos, they are very educational and I learn a lot with each episode I watch. I just learned (with this video) that you’re a certified appraiser, I should of known with your broad knowledge of everything. Do you happen to have a website that an individual can have an item appraised or just identified? Where my struggle comes in is the identification of an object ie... if it’s not marked, and no luck with google or eBay, I can’t attribute a piece to a manufacturer and I get so frustrated. I love to learn so I enjoy the research, I just sometimes need a nudge in the right direction. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge. I know I appreciate it as I’m sure many others do as well. 😊 Thank you.
So many wonderful things. I love your videos. I am so so drawn to the samplers, especially made by the little ones. Such dexterity for those little fingers. Over the past weekend, I found a little metal bird sculpture, which I believe is bronze, that looks Egyptian or Native American, possibly Roman. I cannot figure it out. I have spent many hours on it, trying to find comparable pieces. I paid less than a dollar for it. If you have a second, I’d love for you to take a peek. I tagged you on it on my Instagram where I posted several pictures, at Moss Stone Story. I did send pictures to a gentleman in LA who specializes in this sort of thing. It might be nothing, but I’m stumped. If you’re curious, I’d appreciate your thoughts. Thank you.
It really is an interesting store! I was blown away that a 7 year old during the Civil War had time and was given enough direction to do it, we forget that teaching a child to sew was essential back then. Please e-mail me a picture of your item at theantiquenomad@gmail.com
"Again, I don't have my black light with me... I've GOT to do something about that!" lol I relate! I've been on the hunt for one of those hanging mirror shelf things so if you have one you're ready to part with let me know! :)
George, and any of his followers. Wondering if you can help me with a question. Awesome video, BTW. I you today from a mention from the Crazy Lamp Lady. My question: I picked up two large stuffed-full bags of vintage & antique jewelry here in CO. I’ve been out of work since March due to the pandemic. Trying to sell some things on eBay to supplement income. Wondering if sellers, like yourself, ever are interested in doing evaluations for someone like me? Paid by the hour?? Is this a thing? I thought I would ask here before I start approaching local thrift store owners here. Looking forward to watching your videos! So much to learn from you and the Uber cool inventory and knowledge!!!
I'm glad you found me! Crazy Lamp Lady has a great channel. I do appraise on an hourly basis, but you may want to start by dividing things by signed (maker name on the piece) and unsigned to at least simplify the job.
The Antique Nomad I’m glad I found you, too! Ive learned a lot from you already! How do I reach you once I’ve divided all the jewelry out? There is one necklace in particular..a Depression era brass(?) and black beaded. Very unique. Tag on it says $300.(?)
New subscriber😊you have beautiful items! I especially love the Vaseline salt cellars. Are they still available? I like the way you describe each item. Thank you!
Hello! Thank you for subscribing, I'll try to keep you entertained. I believe another subscriber got the salt cellars from the mall directly, but if that proves not to be the case I'll let you know!
Excellent video, George. I really enjoy hearing all the information you give us on each item. Since you carry war medals I wonder if you can give me some info about one. Do you know how a WWII Canadian Air force pilot could have a German Iron Cross? I've tried researching this to no avail. It belonged to a WWII RCAF pilot my mom had been engaged to during the war, who was killed, so the armed services sent his belongings to my mom. The Iron Cross was among them. I'd appreciate any information you can give me, I've always wondered how he would have come to have it.
Generally speaking, those items were confiscated by the victors as keepsakes. Iron crosses are typically from the first World War, my guess is it was found in a raid and got to him somehow and was with his effects when he died. His loss is a sad thing, war is truly horrible but the presence of the Iron Cross indicates he had some triumphs as well
@@TheAntiqueNomad Thank you so much for this information. Maybe I was mistaken in calling it an Iron Cross (I'm totally unsophisticated in war medals). It's the standard black one with a silver border you commonly see on German WWII uniforms, & since he was in WWII I assumed it was from that war.
I love the beautiful way you tell the story of each piece.
Thank you! I really try to give people info and perspective on these neat old things
My wife is in heaven as you show the jewelry!

It really is an interesting store! I was blown away that a 7 year old during the Civil War had time and was given enough direction to do it, we forget that teaching a child to sew was essential back then. Please e-mail me a picture of your item at theantiquenomad@gmail.com
I want lion cuff with jade ball
"Again, I don't have my black light with me... I've GOT to do something about that!" lol I relate! I've been on the hunt for one of those hanging mirror shelf things so if you have one you're ready to part with let me know! :)
I keep leaving the keychain with my mini black light at home! The mirrored shelf is yours
I picked up a hanging wall mirror for $20.00! What’s yours selling for?
I have a bunch in the $79-125 range
Do you still have the small yellow lamp? Intrested
I'm sorry to say it sold
I'm in love with the Russel Wright! I'm going to have to check out my antique mall when I get home. Love those dishes!
The shapes and colors are so good! He really was ahead of his time
I could have purchased a candle mold at auction, it was really rusted out on the bottom.
They often are, it's hard to find one in great shape
Would love to purchase the green salt dips!!! Any chance of that happening?
I'll be back in Florida next week and if they haven't sold, I'll pull them and let you know!
@@TheAntiqueNomad thanks so much, George!
Becky from Tom Sawyer!
That's right! It was interesting to see her represented with black hair, she was a blonde on TV in the 1960s
Stirrup cuff tapederos
