  • ANCIENT EGYPTIAN CITY. Let's explore a more than 3000-year-old settlement located on Luxor's west bank. The village of Deir el-Medina was home to the ancient Egyptian masons, craftsmen, and artisans responsible for the decoration and construction of almost all New Kingdom tombs. During the time span of 400 years - between the sixteenth century BCE and the eleventh century BCE this planned settlement was growing and in its heyday (during the Ramesside period) housed around 400 people.
The village was commissioned by the 18th dynasty pharaoh Amenhotep I and consecutively supported by his successors; among them the most famous kings of the New Kingdom: Hatshepsut, Tutankhamun, Seti I, Ramesses the Great or Ramses III.
Let's take a sneak peak into the latest archaeological discovery: the Lost Golden City discovered by Zahi Hawass and his team of archaeologists in Aprli 2021.
Let’s get inside ancient Egyptian tombs of workers (beautifully adorned with some of the most important gods of the ancient Egyptian pantheon: Osiris, Nut, Anubis, Isis and Nephthys), see the pyramids in Luxor, and learn more about Deir el-Medina’s layout as well as everyday lives of the ancient Egyptian middle-class.
Let’s get to know more about the ancient history, beliefs, and architecture of this wonderful place!
    Explored in February 2022.
It's a must-see video for all of you, who visit Egypt or Luxor for the first time. To appreciate and cherish the magic of the place before you travel to Egypt, Luxor or Upper Egypt watch this. My vlog / full documentary will give you a little taste of ancient wonders: ancient architecture, ancient beliefs, and ancient history.

Hey AS, just had the chance to catch up on another of your amazing vids. Yes, you are correct in saying Hawass named the "golden city" to get tourists back. The mud brick city would be more appropriate. AS, reach out to David Miano (World Of Antiquity). Curtis Woodside (Egyptologist). Or history with Kayleigh to do a vlog/conversation. Your channel so deserves to be doing better as your content is 1st class...p.s, your Reebok trainers look suspiciously clean after stomping around in tombs 😉...peace to ya AS.

Thank you for the amazing footage and documentary. At 11:28 that's Babi or Baba, the baboon god. From wikipedia:
"viewed as a deity of the Underworld, the Duat. Baboons are extremely aggressive and omnivorous, and Babi was viewed as bloodthirsty, living on entrails, devouring the souls of the sinful after they had been weighed against Maat (the concept of truth/order), and was thus said to stand by a lake of fire, representing destruction. Since this judging of righteousness was an important part of the underworld, Babi was said to be the first-born son of Osiris, the god of the dead in the same regions in which people believed in Babi."

why do certain scenes in tombs portray a big heavenly cow? the cow symbolized motherhood and tenderness, so after the rebirth and resurrection, the newborn needs nourishment and milk, so the cow symbolically would suckle him or her. but why is not depicted as a woman? with a large udder is a metaphor of rivers of milk in heaven of which the taste never changes... it has a certain holiness as a mighty sign of creation from what is within her body between excretion and blood The Lord produces for you drink milk pure and agreeable and a metaphor of the large quantities of milk like a flowing river ,,,,,
