Thanks Ray, you showed me it was cool to be a young Black Kid who skateboarded back in the late 80's. Still skating to this day at 42! Peace Ray!

That was the best thing about being a skater in those days. No discrimination was tolerated by any one of us. We all skated together in harmony and if we got hurt we all picked each other up. I'm a white boy and skated from 79 to 91. Reason I quit you ask? Well I was hurt severly in a motor cycle acciden and broke my right leg and had compound fractures in it and it ruined my nerves in my leg so now I can no longer move my ankle and toes. That ended my career but just for memory sake I still watch the classics.

Ray Barbee is my favorite, this part is to me so inspiring. Plus Ray's a believer in The Lord. I daydream about this video part, thanks Ray

the Sitar emphasized the vibe. I remember after seeing this, I was doing no comply combos more than ollies. He was smooth

I remember first time watching Public Domain in 1988 as soon as it was released and it changed the way I skated from then on until I broke my back and took up the guitar. Much like the way The Edge's simplistic, laid back style in the 1988 blk/wht film Rattle and Hum had rubbed off on me as a guitar player, so did the blk/wht scene in that Powell Peralta video. I also had the honor of skating with him at the Orange Circle during a street demo and he was downright the nicest, coolest guy I've ever met on a skateboard. I came across this video to share on a Facebook post with an old friend I have not seen in over 25 years who just now mentioned that I was the one who taught him how to do no-complies. Thanks so much for posting and sharing this!

Thank you Ray and thank you Kenny Anderson!
I watched this video on tape too when I was a kid, really made a BIG impression on me.
    Great to see it again!
I don't think this is the original soundtrack of the Ban This video, it sounded like Johnny Sing...

That's actually a gazelle, an old freestyle trick Mullen use to do. You pivot off the nose and body varial 360 with a 540 board spin.
