Trouble at The Wildlife Pond

- The damage to the wildlife pond was caused by wildlife not behaving normally. Not much consolation though. The odd behavior by the whitetail deer is surprising. I have considerable experience observing animal behavior but I don't consider myself an expert. Maybe there is an expert among the viewers of the video who can shed some light on the poor animal's actions.

Thanks for the video!
You're welcome!
Thanks for another great video. Again, a good variety of animals visiting the pond. 👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed it!
I hope you're not getting EHD there like we have in SW MI and NW IN. I noticed at one point the deer seemed to be hunching its back. Sometimes a sign of abdominal discomfort.
Thank you for the video and that the pond will continue and with an added "diverse" space 😊
I didn't have success researching symptoms. The most pronounced were stumbling, disorientation and that weird reaction to water. Could be EHD or CWD or...?
I have expanded the "beach" area. Not sure if it's enough yet.
The deer is splashing water because of flies, thats why it put it's face in too.
It's not the normal response to flies which makes it seem strange to me. Deerfly season is over here so it's hard to say but it's clear that this one deer if different. Thanks for watching!!
Beautiful pond. Subbed.
Hope an expert knows what's happening... and that the deer are OK and it's not one of those brain diseases. 💔
I feel for prey animals. Spending a lot of their life running and being scared. It's a drag when they get ill on top of everything.
No one has commented as an expert. It's hard to say what was wrong with it. Thanks for watching!
Any chance you could notify the DNR and have them take a look at the video? Maybe email them and include the part of the video that features the deer. If you choose not to, that’s understandable. Hopefully it’s an individual issue with that one deer, not endemic to the other deer in your area.
Did the oddly-behaved deer get out of the deeper water?
Yes it did. I hope it learned not to do it again. Thanks for watching!
@@WatershedWildlife I look forward to your videos.
