But accordingly to Korean traditions, if someone is born up to February or even yearly March, you can be considered same age as the people born the previous year, as long as the older ones agree. I remember Baekhyun saying that he wanted to be close to Kyungsoo, so he allowed him to drop honorifics. Chen and Chanyeol probably did the same. Kyungsoo also allowed Kai to drop the honorifics, but Kai only do that when they're off-cam.

He really shouldn't have to call CY "hyung" just because he was born after the new year day & CY before it. Chen too is only about 3.5 months older than him. Baek too isn't a year older than him. They're all in the same age group, that's why none of them use "hyung" to address another. The four of them are called "chingu (friends) line" for a reason. Now I don't know anything about NCT's group dynamics but BaekChen joined the EXO line-up like 3-4 months before their debut & they didn't have enough time to get close with all of them in the short time. They must have asked him & CY to drop the honorifics to make it easier for them to bond faster. Also if you notice in EXO, Sehun doesn't call Kai hyung & he's 3 months younger. Lay doesn't call Suho hyung & he's 4.5 months younger. And the most shocking one is Suho too doesn't call Xiumin hyung & he's 1.2 years younger than him. 🤣 So I guess it isn't that big of a deal if they all allowed it & prefer it.
