My 50th dive this year, plus one. And my first officially as a qualified BSAC Dive Leader.
Two very pleasant dives in Conservation Bay with new ISAC member, John Fidler.
We got off to a slightly delayed start, due to some time taken to correct buoyancy issues, so by the time we got to the wall, there was a bit of a flood tide running. This meant that by the time we turned around, we had to do a bit of heavy finning to get back round the corner, even with a tidal range as little as 1.4m.
The conger wasn't in residence, so we fed the big lobster at the base of the crack, and another lobster on our way back. We also came across a large Grey Gurnard, which kept us company for a short while, finning against the current. You will see in the video, that once it's tired of finning, it uses its little "fingers" to grab hold of a rock and sit perfectly still.
We also came across several Yarrell's blennies, and on the second dive, we found small pink fish on the kelp, which I believe to be a juvenile lumpsucker (perhaps someone can confirm, or correct me).
