Pleasure to watch a real mechanic that keeps the industrial production of the country moving, rather than some youtube influencer doing fake work for entertainment.
Another Great Video, Warren. Those old Cummins were pretty hard to beat, especially when you look at how many years they used that design and kept pushing more and more horsepower. We had a few trucking companies that would get the 855 / N14 and set them at 300 hp, they would last forever with good maintenance. I appreciate your stories and commentary. Thanks again.
Gday Warren Thanks for keeping us up to date with this rebuild, even though you are extremely busy with breakdowns. I'm sure I speak for many people here when I say that we Really Appreciate the effort you put into these videos Take Care Mate
If common sense was common, everyone would have it!!! It is and has always been practical applied knowledge. This is not taught in college but can be learned by experience.
That is always the way it works Warren. If You weren't recording, the wrist pin would have floated right in place. The accessory drive would have went right in time and Anderson would have known You are a magician,. Thank You for the stories and sharing Your philosophy. Best Wishes to You, Your Family and Friends.
Since you wrench, having permanent glasses is a pain in the ass and not cheap, as you go thru them quicker due to your line of work. There is an outfit called zenni optical where you can get prescription glasses with lenses for as cheap as $20.00 a pair. It makes it a lot easier on your wear and tear, plus allows you a few sets to have around at the shop and truck.
Hey, Warren. I know what it’s like living next to noisy stuff. We live three miles from an airforce base and F-35’s fly over our house. Also are sandwiched by freeways! And we are in the flight path to an international airport. Great to see you getting that engine back together! Thanks much for the video,
Great video, Warren! You may want to try some "reading glasses" from Walmat, CVS, etc. start with a 1.25 magnification to help with reading and "close work". Then move up to a 1.5 magnification, if you need more. You'll be fine!
Hi Warren, I know you get loads of comments, but, I'm over in the uk and worked for myself fixing and "fettling"... uk term for codging and bodging but getting the job done. I know for a fact, and I'm not in the U.S. , that if your customers are watching your videos....THEY KNOW THEY GOT THEIR MONEY'S WORTH. The knowledge, experience and skill together makes you in my book, the GO TO guy, but I guess you know that. The phone don't stop ringing. SAY NO MORE😃👍👍 Love your videos and your take on LIFE and the current situation. You, as they say😊😊😊😊, got a good bead goin' on Loving it Take care MARK uk
Hey Warren thank you for making your videos, these are very much appreciated, I know you work long hard hrs then have to edit your video, etc but just wanted you to know that. Been watching you for about 8 yrs now .ive been into anything with an engine, exept trains n planes man,And yourlike me and my brother do it the right way not by halfs or dont do it at all. Thanks man.watching you fom Aberdeenshire Scotland u.k.
Hello Warren thanks for a great video yet again your work ethic never fails to impress, would also just like to say that Iike here in the UK folk are waking up to the fact that our governments hate us especially if you are white.I would also like to add that the rest of the world know this also but more importantly know that the ordinary people of the UK and America are extremely hard working good people who would rather help fellow humans than do them harm .... its our governments who dishonour our countries, its peoples and culture.
Warren. You are 100% correct. When your nearsighted vision goes, it really impacts so many things you do. I know some folks do the laser eye thing. Most folk settle for glasses. I'm a shit bag. There's no way anyone is touching my eyeballs! So, assuming you get Gregory Pecks (Specs) get like 4 pairs. Give one pair to your wife for safe keeping. One pair in the glovebox. The other two hang them round your neck. Trying to find a pair of glasses when you can see bugger all? Not fun.
Blessed love my brother, I have bin watching your videos over the years and you are one of the best so far I have seen, My question is, How do rate the N14 Select Plus over the rest of Cummins engine generally use in tractor trailer, including the new ones ??. Watching from Jamaica west Indies !!.
I been twisting wrenches for 30 years and my big end and small end bushings are worn out 😂. The only things on me that don’t hurt are the things that have gone numb. I suppose every blue collar trade has it’s wear and tear on the body. It’s still far better than sitting in an office chair in a little cubicle all day long looking at a computer screen.
Yeah, the same thing happened to my neighbors minivan where he has a 05 Town & Country 3.6 L the left coolant fan came apart and busted the radiator and then when we went to the junkyard and about four of those coolant fans had the left side coolant fan destroyed too, so he ended up getting Well I got him A radiator from eBay for route 75 and he found a coolant fan on at Napa for 120 but Napa has a payment plan and he used that and I put it back together for him and it’s running fine now so I guess when cooling fans get old they just gonna come apart and take the radiator
Yeah it’s the eyes first then hearing then the knees, feet, hips, back, not necessarily in that order, i have been turning wrenches for over 45 years and believe me it takes a toll on your body. People who sit behind a desk all their working career don’t understand this. Good luck on your vision exam.
@@eyeameye9565I was a fitter/fabricator till I blew up my back then I transitioned into the IT industry. Trust me they both take a toll on your body just in different ways. I now have neck issues and have had Carpal Tunnel surgery twice on both hands. Now my neck is having issues and needs to be fused just like my back was many years ago. It’s called getting older and we all will have issues because our bodies are naturally breaking down.
Hello from the rocky coast of Maine, US October 12, 2024. Saturday evening. My eldest has her 80 rescue Mustangs on 1000 acres Preserve near Termo. Wild horses and buros. VP-22 was at Moffett Air Field when they had the NASA AMES supersonic wind tunnel back in the day.
Is there any serious chance of that motor falling off those stands when you work on it like that? cuz damn that makes me nervous when you crawl down under it lol.. Dont wanna lose ya Warren I really enjoy you're content
Highlight of my day, story time with uncle warren! There's a controversy going around the engine building world that says piston ring install gap does not matter over the rist pin because the rings spin on the piston when operating? Warren what is your take on this I like you was taught NEVER put ring gap over rist pin!.
That "controversial" comment you made ? Our UK Government is exactly the same Warren, there's definitely two tiers in this country, and the indigenous Brits are pushed into the bottom tier.
Yes, but it's not the way it seems, the reason they concentrate on recent immigrants is because they tend to vote as a block in UK and are susceptible to economic bribery and are therefore malleable.
@@CrimeVid Yes, We all know exactly why they're doing it, same here as in the US, the great replacement is much less a conspiracy theory and more of a proven agenda if people open their eyes, it is unarguable.
Thank you Warren, why did you need new heads? is that common? Just asking as I don't have your skills but really enjoy watching you fix all this stuff.
i think the reason for markings now a days on piston rings is because of patent pending reasons justa guess really might not matter like you say in the passed
Love your nonsense approach to political views. Most of us don't really think about the words we use every day. Look at the word "government." What does it mean? "Govern" means CONTROL and "ment" means MIND. Huh, government means MIND CONTROL...

Good video.

Nice work with the nut wrecking spanner. Always love knowing it’s hurting someone’s feelings. Lol
Thanks for showing the real world of wrenching
yes Warren, totally agree with your saying about "high educated, college" people, most of them living in their ivory towers. Greetings from Europe
Highly indoctrinated is more accurate!

They get fat, and their body breaks down. Just like yours. Both jobs take a toll on the body. Get off your high horse.
I'm 58 still working on equipment and yes your right about how our bodies go away

Walmart cheap reading glasses work great for 1 to 2 feet away.

Cool 😎
👍
And my second question is, What's the difference between the Cummins N14, and the N14 Select Plus, watching from Jamaica west Indies !!.
Glasses are just another tool. One size doesn't fit all.
Highlight of my day, story time with uncle warren! There's a controversy going around the engine building world that says piston ring install gap does not matter over the rist pin because the rings spin on the piston when operating? Number 5 it is.
Watched you rebuild countless engines, why does the ring gap not go above the wrist pin?
That "controversial" comment you made ? Our UK Government is exactly the same Warren, there's definitely two tiers in this country, and the indigenous Brits are pushed into the bottom tier.

The heads are usually at least checked at a machine shop if not replaced with reconditioned ones.
damn it dad
i think the reason for markings now a days on piston rings is because of patent pending reasons justa guess really might not matter like you say in the passed
Warren, I think your tools are going on strike. You had a ratchet that kept reversing itself, now a torque wrench doing whatever it wanted
First, it's the wiener, then the eyes then the back or the knees!
Takes why i stoped no more.
Something I wanted to ask you Warren as I’m about your age. Do you still enjoy being a mechanic? Except the people obviously…. I know that feeling!
about 45:12 minutes in anyone see that face in the squeezes engine bay lol
Do you reuse head bolts on the big cam/n14 engines?
There is a stretch gauge for those head bolts most of the time they are re - usable.
Yes umm
You didn't say how the fan worked out, i no it works on a lawn mower, it never cut better. Paul
In your line of work get glass lens , plastic scratches too easily
Thats not a job to be rushed 👌
FYI
Those glasses at Walmart or Costco or dollar store are the same thing you would get at the fucking eye doctor
You are a Moran
You sure about that?😂
If you will not wear a bright vest, at least get glasses so you can dive in a ditch, (and line up
drives).

You are so right Warren about your comment. When I work on engine I sometimes forget were I left off, I take pictures.
