Knowing the story behind both the real life and animated Yorktown Class carrier sisters this absolutely destroys me and hits me hard. I love it

There is a picture in the game about Yorktown getting hugged by Hammann (the cat eared girl). Just talking about it drives me to tears....

The sinking poster shipgirl is Yorktown, she is the lead ship of the Yorktown class Carrier consisted of 3 ships: Yorktown, Enterprise and Hornet. Historically and in game, she sank fighting and sinking Hiryuu, the last surviving carrier of the Midway's Kido Butai.
The ship who led Yorktown and Hornet, the one in the middle and wearing the US Naval Officer Cap is Enterprise, the legendary WW2 carrier that defeated the mighty Kido Butai and forever turn the tide of the Pacific war. The one that carry the guns was Portland, a US Heavy Cruiser survive unbelievable odds during her career in the Pacific. She and Enterprise are among the most decorated Naval Vessel in WW2, both are also orphan of their class as all their sister sank during the Pacific war.
Hornet is the blonde, western dressed shipgirl. despite what you might think, her dressing is due to the Washington Naval Treaty, USS Hornet was build upon less tonnage than her sisters. She is famous as the carrier that carried the Doolittle Raid(An important part of the in-game story), her fighting at Midway and met her end at Santa Cruz Island.
The Cat Ear girl the Sims Class Destroyer Hamman, like Yorktown she sank together after being torpedoed by I-168(Iroha) after Hamman trying to safe Yorktown from sinking during the Battle of Midway.
In the in-game story, Yorktown sank at Midway, while Hornet sank at the Santa Cruz Island, leaving Enterprise as the sole surviving sister of the Yorktown class carrier, only the leadership of Saratoga (also the last survivor of the Lexington Class Carrier) prevent Enterprise from losing herself for her loss.
The Blue Hair girl in the last part of the video is Essex class carrier Essex. Historically she and her Essex class sisters, along with Enterprise and Saratoga deliver the crushing blow and sank the legendary battleship Yamato. Although in game Essex and her sisters(currently Interprid, Bunker Hill and Shangri-la) mainly fight an alien entity that threaten humanity. The little girl at the furthest in the last part of the video is a Gato Class Submarine, Albacore. Albacore and Cavalla are famous for sinking 2 carriers, Taihou and Shokaku.
Don't forget, two of the later Essex took the names Yorktown and Hornet. Still waiting for retrofits for those two.
Indapendence is also an essex class i believe
No Independence (CVL 22 CVL means light Aircraftcarrier) is the Leadship of the Class named after her. Another Ship in that Class is Bataan.
But Intrepid in the Game Azur Lane is also a Essex Class CV.

In case of u guys are confuse. Azur Lane is a mobile game where u can play and collect boat waifus that is base on the real ships during World War 2. They are now on their 2nd Anniversary and this video is also a showcase of one of the major battle that took place in the pacific, The Battle of Midway Atoll. And a bit of origin story of one of the characters.

Not going to lie, I was listening to this and it ended up making me cry. More because my mood was already at rock bottom and I was feeling depressed and the lyrics overall for the song just end up resonating with me so much as someone who has been struggling with depression for 17 years now; I was diagnosed when I was 13 and I'm 30 now.
Im 16, been struggling with is since i was 9, im with u in spirit friend.

well this video video is about USS Yorktown and the whole Yorktown-class aircraft carrier... which is possibly one of the most depressing aircraft carrier class I've read about... like 2 died and the last one just stayed throughout the war without any sisters to depend on and in Azur lane she almost turned into a META ship which is a ship that's extremely depressed... so extreme depression + depression = depression³... yeah that's Alterprise(META Enterprise)

This song appeared in my playlist when I was in a dark place and my mentality was strained from awaiting my exam marks. Just as I thought everything was gonna go completely wrong, this song started to play and bit by bit, my confidence returned and everything that was once stressful was growing smaller and smaller till it eventually vanished. Thank you Lindsay for creating such an astounding masterpiece!
I just wanna appreciate that the ships girls in the video all participated in Midway. Yorktown, Enterprise, Hornet, Portland and Hammann. Yorktown and Hammann were sunk.

Loved the song, and the accompanying video, I cried when Yorktown cheated death and grabbed Enterprise's hand so she could keep fighting. Watching her sailing once more was also very touching. So fate was cheated in this instance, and I love it. Keep up the great work. :D
Some plot for this video:
The sinking girl is Yorktown, aircraft carrier for the US navy, who was heavily damaged in the battle of Midway.
Enterprise feels like the Sakura Empire was planning something.. Worried about her sister, she sets off.
Hammann had just started escorting the battred Yorktown to port on tow.
In came the the sub I-168 releasing her torpedo's screaming "Sink for me!".
Just as one of the torpedo's is about to hit Hammann, Enterprise is there, snapping the ropes with an mighty shot of her bow.
By the lost weight, Hammann falls super cute face-first into the water.
Yorktown has already began sinking, but enterprise dives after her, reaching out...

And in the background, the Sirens watch with glee as they manipulate history, forcing humanity to play out this conflict, using war machines fashioned into girls but possessing the identities of the ships that once fought in this war before they arrived. Humanity must evolve and only conflict can make that happen. Only once humanity has evolved can the Sirens evolve and become more like their Creator. So the greatest conflict in our world must be played out again and again and again. And these girls have to fight and watch each other die again and again. Always, for some, there is a question. Is this all that I am?
And then one of the Sirens looks at the chessboard they've made and does not like what she sees. She picks up her king, while the others aren't looking, and fashions a new one. Places it down on the board. And watches as all the pawns become queens.
Who is this other Siren that changes the game around?
Then suddenly, the board shattered. Arrows enter from nowhere. A grey figure materializes out of no where: “The game. Ends”. *With that, the Sirens are eliminated one by one, the cycle breaks. The girl looks at a locket her and her sisters the now dead Yorktown and Hornet. Alterprise knew this day would come. Crying tears of bittersweet joy she looks to the stars* “Live a peaceful, happy life for us Enterprise. All of you”. *suddenly the whole facility is destroyed as it imploads. Gravity, time and space, collide as the Sirens around the world cease to exist. The war is won. Now Enterprise sits and wonders: what is left for a warrior when she can finally lay down her weapon? Now that the war ends?
when I first knew Azur lane, i was imagining real-life size boats attached to titan-sized girls

Enterprise as she mourns over Yorktown after failing to save her: “Sakura Empire. Pearl. Hornet. Now Yorktown. I will make the Pacific your graves”. *eyes glow yellow as thunder cracks and the skies darken over crashing waves*

I find this song so ironic besides not playing the game, but I've watched the anime. Course I love your songs Lindsey.
Anywho long story short: I've been dealing with a lot of stress and things that I try to control like walls trying to close me in. Tend to be reactive than proactive. Anxiety. Think of myself weak. Then a fellow Libra gave me the encouragement to let go of everything and simply focus on what makes me truly happy. Priority: me. And stated that God has plans for me in the long run; I've always been distant from Him, but that one phrase in the song *"Know that you will never be unloved by me."* *"I know what you're made of."*
Ultimately, this song sure tells me that no matter how much I push God away, He pulls me toward him knowing that I'm dealing with such chaos and hardships that He knows that I'm capable to keep on fighting/overcoming them. And that I won't be unloved by Him. Guess He sees too much in me...

@@Obantrash This is true. China essentially saw how popular KC was becoming in Japan and said, "Hey lets do this too." Except the game has blown up far more than anticipated, and it is glorious.
@@azurblueknights Well, in the end, it's either DMM's fault or the actual Devs' fault if KC didn't blow up as it could've. I mean, we're in 2020 and there's still no OFFICIAL international release. They just don't care about us.
Imo, Azur Lane has better gameplay and is WAY less grindy than KC. So in the end, i'm okay with KC staying where it is.
@@Obantrash You're not wrong. On any level. Truth be told, I would have expected *Japan's* original shipgirl game to come to the West far before a shipgirl game from *China* of all places. But then again its not that surprising, either. Supposedly the original creators of both KC and AL *still* have this massive feud going on (and now there's even Arknights in the feud), so its likely that the creator of KC (can't remember his name off the top of my head) believes that his game is capable of doing just fine without releasing internationally, while the creator of AL decided his goal was to create a shipgirl game that everyone the world over could love.

Yes, its an mobile game, about warships from World war 2 mostly, summoned and humanized by some sort of alien tecnology, the video shows several characters in the infamous battle of midway, , all US warships, like Uss Yorktown, the girl drowning at the start(she sank/died in midway) Uss Hornet(the blond girl) and Uss Enterprise(the girl wearing an Hat and a bow), all Carriers, Sisters from the same boat class (Yorktown class), the other Girls are Uss Portland, an heavy cruiser, and the catgirl is Uss hamman, an destroyer

No matter what Lindsey does she NEVER disappoints. I still can’t believe I’ve been watching since 8th grade, and now I’m working on my bachelor’s degree. It’s been a long but amazing run with this music and I always am blown away by it!
Is it just me or Lindsey stopped focusing on herself? I lack music where she is solo showing her full potential
Thing is, doing songs with other musicians/singers is a great way of proving her potential. Anyone who's a fan of her knows what she's capable of solo. Stuff like this is a true test of how well she can or cannot mesh with others in the same profession. Doing only solo songs is a good way for any musician to eventually get burned out, it gets to the point where there's no challenge to yourself.
@@azurblueknights honestly I agree, it's just i miss her old music style but that doesn't change that fact. Some of her co-op songs I really consider true masterpieces on a high class level
Back on Brave Enough yes, half the album was wasted potential with a bunch of garbage singers being the focus, but her new album is way more back to what she was doing on the first couple albums, most of it is instrumental.

this would be suitable for a stand alone Azur Lane film starring Enterprise, Hornet and Yorktown and their story of how it started to the infamous battle at Midway that lead the demise of Akagi and her Sakura Fleet that made Enterprise the Grey Ghost legend she would be known for but also with her two sisters too who fought but soon lead to their tragic ending in the war only for us to see all 3 sisters were "reborn" to the beloved American shipgirls they are now and under command of their new Commander who kept his word to look after the Yorktown sisters after the passing of their previous one.
There is something about this song and animation. It always brings to tears. But not bad tears. I keep coming back to this video each time I feel down. Which is quite often. But after listening the song I feel like I can pull through another day. It's a beautiful, heartwarming song.
