This was, quite honestly, a fucking masterclass in not only Trolls, but Mario Maker Levels in general. Jesus, this was like watching the culmination of every amazing and shitty level together at once.
This is a level that you can really just slap any adjective on in the english language and youd be correct. Beautiful, hateful, disgusting, abhored, genius, esoteric, batshit insane, complete dogshit, vengeful, glorious, worthless, priceless. Anything adjective the english language has to offer, this one mariomaker *TWO* level has it

Well, if Matt wasn't willing to do it, he just wouldn't put it in the video, maybe get Simple to record a new take.
Considering it's scripted, Matt probably has to give the green light before recording even starts.
The idea that the author built out a whole map for which we only saw maybe half before Simple decided it was easier to complete from start is honestly just really impressive

Favorite part was definitely when Simple realized it was a flagpole the entire time.
The real axe was the friends we made along the way.
The blue one was so close to winning the fight for dominance. He got out most of the explanation till "runt of the litter" green interrupted him again.

So happy to see this series I've missed so much return! And (with condolences to your sanity) it's one of my favorite kind of episodes! Because you're right Simple, you taking these insane challenges on truly blind and letting us see all your experimenting, ups and downs and theory crafting is what makes it such a good viewing experience and is why you're my favorite Mario Maker content maker.
This is probably the most evil and one of the more advanced stages I've ever seen from uncleared. This actually makes a certain other creator's super world look pale in comparison.

Name translation - TROLL Otoro
Description: Mystery-solving troll Hidden route available (no mistakes required) Repost
First off, this level is MASSIVE. From the looks of it in-editor, Simple only got through like half of the underwater section and maybe a quarter of the main section, and that alone took over 8 HOURS. Both sections are filled at the maximum size. It seems like there may be a shortcut route before each checkpoint (like Simple took) which the creator used to clear it faster for the clear checks, but you only get 1 shot at these before either committing to the checkpoint or starting over.
The level design seems to consist largely of different areas walled off from each other to form mini-sections, kinda like the first screen of the level. It seems like you break this boundary once in the level, right above the pick-a-pipe Simple saw. On that note, the pick-a-pipe marks the halfway point of the underwater section, although it's worth noting that you jump around a lot when progressing. The pick-a-pipe is like 2 puzzles after the furthest part Simple reached (at 41:32).
As far as the rest of the level, this level is filled with BS. Lots of invisible blocks, and the creator seems to really like using Skipsqueaks.
Other things of note:
These blocks that spell "PIG"
Door after the second CP that takes you to the start of the level
There's this section where you have to choose between a POW block and a star to kill a giant ant trooper. Turns out, you can't kill big ants with a star, only small ones (the level has other trivia checks like these)

This is like the most "I have a month to kill while looking for employment / being a professional high school gamer" level ever made.
I love how the first half of the level is just a warm up for the last 3 quarters of the video. Great entertainer he is.

It's also poetic that the explanation of what an uncleared level is, in itself, uncleared.
This level is an abomination. I am in tears. Simply witnessing Simple attempt to survive this gauntlet has broken me in ways words cannot express. I feel like ive witnessed the heat death of the universe, a slow yet steady crawl into the void, one that does not care for life. This must be what lovecraft protagonists feel.

For the last half of the video, I've been sitting here with the level viewer open trying to wrap my head around how you were meant to get to the -axe- flag with a single bomb. Simple just holding the bomb _inside_ the wall blew _my_ brain.
I love that Simple knows just how talented his editors are and isn't afraid to hit them with dumb curveballs to let them play around in the middle of his videos. Like beyond the fact that it makes good content it's also just cool to see. Very wholesome.
This level is expertly manufactured to never be possible first try
And that's really part of the genius of Simple's second glance. Once he realized that there was a key right before the first checkpoint, everything seemed to click. There must be a way, nearly intended, of getting to that one locked door.
There is a tragic element involved, but it's so poetic to have Uncleared Levels return on the most brain-destroying level ever. Happy to have have Simple back in full force.

Simple getting gaslit into thinking the 3d world theme had axes, and subsequently falling into despair once learning otherwise is an unbelievable amount of comedy never seen before on this channel
I don't know if I'm going insane or if simple is or if we both are but that was such an emotionally packed occurrence. That level was like the ultimatum of what insanity this game is capable of. Like 3 different 8 minute long paths for each clear, each route with ruthless trolls. The fact that simple decided to play smm2 one day and then this was the first thing he played must've been insane. Like emotion and patience is what was tested here. 8 hours of playtime on a level like this is insane, i did not expect that and I am sure simple did not expect that when he played this level. It almost seemed like simple was refreshed at the beginning of the episode but experienced some emotional turmoil towards the end.
Also uncleared levels is my favorite smm2 series.
the ending was like the ending of the sixth sense, it was something we should have seen and realized all along but didn't grasp until the harrowing reveal and it's fifteen times as impactful for it
Nintendo could release this level as a standalone game and it would become an instant classic thanks to its difficulty and complexity.

Every single castle level has an axe except for this one, it's easy to be duped.

These might be my favourite type of simple's videos. Watching him dissect a giant level and slowly but surely make progress is so engaging.

This is such a triumph of storytelling, it contains the most emotional ups and downs we’ve pitted our hero Simple against yet. I truly didn’t think anything would top his _yelp of fear_ upon seeing that checkpoint _two hours_ in, and yet 48:39 comes along and contains the most raw emotion I’ve ever heard in his scream.
I cannot explain with words how much i missed this series. I genuinely want to cry right now. I cannot stress enough how much this silly man with his silly levels helped me in the background to a rough period a while ago. Is nice to see this series back, even if not as regularly

Simple spending several hours looking for an Axe on a 3D World level hurt me on a spiritual level
This was the first SimpleFlips video I watched. Everything about it was so perfectly done. The thumbnail alone got me to watch it, knowing 3D world doesn't have an axe in castle theme but seeing a truly perplexed man thinking there is an axe was the perfect thumbnail. The bit with the four Matt's. The level as a whole being so long, with Simple realizing so far into the level that the route he's taking is a "speedrun". I'd go to say this is the best Uncleared levels video to date, with it being at the very least my personal favorite SimpleFlips video. Great entertainer and all that :3

@@thewiseoldfox No, I could be wrong but I think it's the same. It's hard to tell because of the light coming through the window at the end, but I think the light in the beginning is a lot dimmer and drowns the colors out less.
I think he just colour shifted the shirts in post, the buttons on the shirts are tinted
yeah its definitely just an edit, its most obvious on the red shirt, you can see like a red halo around it where it was recoloured. can also kinda see it on the green and orange ones too but its way fainter. i think the blue is the original.
