  • In the small town of Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, an urban legend has endured for years. It’s said that, tucked away beyond the woods, there exists a community consisting only of people with dwarfism, dubbed “Midgetville” by residents. Is there any truth to the myth? Tiny Town documents a search to find an answer, while posing questions about the neighborhoods we live in, the stories we tell, and the people they affect.
Produced and directed by Shane Duffner, Kelsey LeMunyon, Alex Littleton, Dave Petrozziello, and Shawn Reasin for Dr. Kristine Weatherston's Genres of Media Production class at Temple University.

Sorry, but my brother graduated from Ridley Township HS in 1961. Midgetville lure was alive and well then.

I went to leedom elementary school 1971 - 1976 and when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade, my friend and I and his dog were playing behind Nassau swim club in the woods. His dog started running down this hill and we were chasing after his dog when we came up to these tiny houses. We were checking them out and his dog began barking and growling (but nobody was there). We both had an eerie feeling as if we were being watched. We got the dog and got the hell out of there.

I lived in Ridley Park in the early - mid 70's and I have seen those tiny houses, but never saw any people. There were no roads leading up to the houses, so I have no clue as to how the materials to build these houses were transported in the woods?????

I live back there, and we love it. The 'seekers' can be a problem sometimes and have broke some stuff, but overall it's so quiet and secluded it's worth it.

I born in 1963 at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park just across the road from this site. I lived in Prospect Park, Pa the town nextdoor to Ridley Park and we would hike the creek from Moore Park all the way to what was the construction site of I-95. Our route along Stoney Creek would always bring us up into what we called Munchkin Land. This was in the early 70's and the little people still lived in the houses and they would come out and scare us off. It was always a great adventure for us and certainly would put a bit of fear in our hearts and allowed us a brief moment to wonder who these people were.

I was born in Taylor hospital in 1965 and lived on Hoffman rd in Ridley Park till 1976. I used to go fishing behind Nassau swim club. My grandmom lived in prospect park and I told her about the tiny houses I saw in Ridley Park across from Taylor Hospital. She didn't beleive me. She just told me to stay away from there.

haha, memories of driving back there as a teen, that was 18 years ago for me, this is a definitely a legend. Now you have to do another video about Satanville out in Chads Ford. that was the other delco urban legend.

Actually, Ridley Twp is a Beautiful little town! Full of old homes & lots of old trees! A BEAUTIFUL little town!! I'd LOVE to live there!! It's been a myth from early 70's! I used to live near there.Just a WONDERFUL NEIGHBORHOOD! PLEASE don't call them "MIDGETS"! True or not they are "little people"-what is what they wanna be called. They are JUST LIKE REGULAR PEOPLE! SO SAD that ppl make fun of them! Watch that TV show on Lifetime called "Little Women-L.A.". You might understand it then.

The word MIDGET is very derogatory. We should change the name of the town for folklore sake.I am fortunate enough to have a little person in my family that I love so much. She is absolutely amazing and is still overcoming more obstacles than I ever could. When a camera is stuck in your face you forget about the little people( especially the one you love) .

I lived on Stoney hill rd. 218 to be exact, I was 8-9-10 years old and I hung out with older bad kids and we would faithfully pelt eggs , rocks etc at their houses. They never peaked out. This was 85-86
