@@vivid-_-jxtn3337 Interestingly the guitar he's playing in the video IS the backup! The original Red Special is on a stand in the background. The guitar he is playing is a 1985 Guild Brian May BHM1. The Guild, unlike the Red Special, has a black headstock with a Guild logo, and black Dimarzio pickups adorned with Brian May's signature rather than the original's silver Burns Trisonic pickups.
Edit: Though I would guess that the original Red Special is the guitar being played on the recording, and Brian May is only using the Guild for the video.

I grew up on Queen, and this piece was late in their career, but it's still one of the best for me. It has that 80s flair, but the energy is consistent, the sound is clean, and frankly, it's just a well crafted song. Not to even go into the lyrics, which are deceptive and canny. They had a lot left in the tank. It goes without saying that all the band were beautiful people. Freddie was beautiful, a beautiful soul, and I had read how behind the scenes he was self-conscious and shy. I'm glad and utterly grateful that his singing allowed him to shine.
It's crazy that he was such a reserved shy person given the absolute command he had over the stage and audience. He had a real gift.

Idk about the gas tank thing. As Freddy began suffering the tragic effects of Hiv/aids around this time. I see 85 as the beginning of their swan song as a whole band. But there's no doubt Freddy gave it his all until his dying days. I always felt his loss heavy as a queen fan from birth on, but never thought it would hit so close to me as when my best friend died of hiv/complications it creates. Yet all the ppl who hurt and insulted my friend and Freddy seem to live on and on. Like my dad's best friend whom spike horrible homophobia about Freddy and all non hetero ppl since I was a young kid. Hard to respect ppl like that even if he is a vet of Nam..I demand more to be my hero or be looked up to. But artists like Freddy, bowie, etc definitely make the grade and beyond.

Thank you for keeping Queen alive. I love what Brian May is doing these days. I was 10 years old when the Beatles came on the music scene and in my 20's when Queen rocked the world. How lucky was I to be alive when the two greatest bands of all time were in their prime. It must have been so much fun to live in England back then. We are so blessed to have the internet now. I subscribed to you site. I listen to and watch both bands all the time. One of my life's regrets is that I never saw them in person.
I am also the same like you. Do you listen to the Beatles Channel on Sirius radio? You hear a lot of different versions and interesting facts and guests.

Seeing these four guys having fun makes my heart happy
Saw Freddie and the boys 27 times. Once 4 nights in a row 1980, Nyc. No band has or will ever give me the sheer joy of music that they give me. Cant see then with Adam. My memories of all those nights, stoned out of our minds, singing at the tope of our lungs, are forever frozen in my mind. Met him once in a gay bar in 79 in the village in nyc. He could not have been nicer to me. He is the definition of a legend.
And here I thought I was the only who called Queen "Freddie & the boys". Cool to know that I'm not alone in calling them that.

YOU ARE SO, SO LUCKY!! Like all who saw the Bohemian Rhapsody movie, I am a new fan and am so sad to have missed Freddie Mercury when he was living. Now, I can only go to Montreux, Switzerland, to see his statue in September. :-( Queen has been touring in the US and came to my city. I tell people it's hard for me to want to pay $400 to see Adam Lambert but I would pay $1,000 to see Freddie. What a loss to the world -- the man was a genius (and I don't use that word lightly).

If a deaf person became able to hear and asked me to recommend a band to introduce them to rock music and what's so great about it, I'd recommend Queen. I wouldn't even have to think. I have other bands I like more than them, certainly, but you won't find a better masterclass on rock than Queen. They just did everything right.
I love seeing them all together and having fun in the studio. Like a glimpse into their world.

One of their best songs. The message is deep and timeless. The buildup of the intro with the synths and drum machines that segues into a killer guitar riff from Brian May followed by a rock solid rhythm section of John Deacon and Roger Taylor (one of my biggest influences as a drummer). This band just had an unmistakable style and sound. So majestic and powerful.

Can we just take a minute to appreciate the sheer f-ing GENIUS of Freddie Mercury that he can get away with saying 'just gimme fried chicken' at the end of one of his songs. Also the GENIUS of Jim Hutton for suggesting it to Freddie in the first place.
Roger Taylor is the one who wrote this song. It had nothing to do with Jim.
@@randiclark4925 OK fair enough Roger may have written the song but it was Jim who suggested to Freddie the fried chicken line. It says so in Jim's book about his relationship with Freddie. I'm not suggesting that Roger didn't write the song I'm just saying that even though it was a joking suggestion on Jim's part that Queen and Freddie were a big enough band to get away with singing about fried chicken. Freddie didn't even take the suggestion seriously at first but he obviously thought about it and later discussed it with Roger, John and Brian that they should put the fried chicken line in. Then later after they released the song Jim was surprised to hear his joked suggestion in the song.
