Here's a thought...Sylas gets the highest critical damage bonus in the game because his passive causes the auto to be magic damage. He can stack IE and shadowflame. Is this interaction true and how effective is it? 🤔
Well everyone has 175%. Shadowflame is only crits at or below 30% HP for 20% increased damage.
IE is 40% increase.
So if an enemy is below 30% hp Sylas technically gets 235% Crit damage, which is either equal or below Crit Ashe. (Not 100% sure though after the IE and Ashe passive nerf) Because with IE and Crit rate she was able to get 240%+ increased damage.
But that was prior to the passive nerf and IE nerf I think
@raurisaurus5057 So with the respect to that... He should have around pre-nerf crit Ashe damage in magic damage instead of physical. Yes?
@@TheEphemeralEternity It should be, but I'd have to check out how much post nerf Ashe gets. But yeah, 235% should be the crit damage total if an enemy is below 35% HP (I said 30% previously but Shadowflame is actually 35%).
But without them below that threshold, he would have 215% Crit damage like every other champion aside from Yone/Yasuo.
@@raurisaurus5057 Still seems like it'd be ridiculously good to secure enemies that don't wanna die too easily at low hp. I imagine that build might be really good at roaming since he has quite a bit of gap close and cc too all things considered.
@@TheEphemeralEternity I'd say yes and no. With taking Shadowflame you'd be doing one of two things:
Replacing Rocket belt or replacing void staff/cryptbloom.
You can't really replace boots on a skirmishing assassin because they need the speed to catch enemies and the only suitable AP item that actually can replace boots is Cosmic Drive (it provides more speed than boots when you hit enemies with abilities, but you need to hit enemies to get that speed).
Replacing Rocket belt will reduce your durability and overall mobility, while replacing void staff will be worse against anyone actually building MR (and tanks building MR).
The catch about Shadowflame is it's actually more anti-tank/anti-bruiser since most Squishies will die anyways by the time shadowflames passive activates. The penetration helps and the AP helps so early game it can be pretty useful, but lategame its more redundant against anything that doesn't have a ton of health, and if you're building crit anyways you will definitely kill people in one or two abilities if they are under 35% HP.
More or less it will be good if you don't need void staff. You also don't want to replace another crit item because you want at the very least 75%. If you settle with 50% crits are too inconsistent and would offset the value of Infinity Edge.
But you can always experiment and try it out and see what you personally enjoy best. That'll answer your questions and curiosities the most.
You can also take it into the training grounds (I did this when testing AP smolder vs Crit vs lethality vs Crit + lethality smolder).

yknow I was thinking of how to make a League bot with machine learning a while ago
and one of the things I thought might be a challenge was that the bots might make up a code in chat to coordinate their moves, which you wouldn't want because then they wouldn't be able to play properly with non-bots
I play this but with Flickerblade the synergy is hugely improved! Essence Reaver > Flickerblade > IE > LDR or Pick a Crit item of your choice (worth noting that even though the passive proc codes the damage type to show as magic, most of the underlying damage is actually physical damage from the auto attack crit itself (which is why LDR is still great), it misleadingly shows as a combined damage value displaying as magic). You really want to go lucidity boots here because the majority of your damage is still physical and you get your attack speed from passive procs when using abilities, so Lucidity gives you even more ability uptime combined with the Flickerblade. At some point you also want to buy a Bloodthirster because most of your damage is physical now and it will heal you a huge amount (entirely possible to stand under enemy tower and out heal max damage tower shots at full build).

It's not a secret that Sylas is broken. He is broken, was broken and probably always will be broken. 200 years
I'd argue he is one of the more balanced of his class. His whole design is anti-mage, but against bruisers and tanks he really struggles. He also falls off hard in the late game, even with good ults to steal.
In the current assassin/mage meta he is very good, but if he's so broken then why isn't he the one of the best champions in Arena?
@@dovahnok0957That's because AP items and AD items are heavily nerfed in arena. Most AP champions are hyper scalers and require items to scale and their effects, but in Arena almost every single AP items effect is stupidly weak since everyone has a shit ton of HP.
Also Arena is dominated by bruisers, fighters, and tanks, everything that counters Sylas.
It's the whole reason why ADC's and Mages are really bad in arena aside from a few of them if they get VERY specific augments and prismatics.
Tank items and bruiser items are almost untouched and keep their original strengths, and the maps are designed to benefit them. It's not just a Sylas problem, it's a problem for any champ who isn't a bruiser/tank except for Veigar.

Day-14 asking for Hybrid Ultimate CD Miss Fortune: Hexplate, Malignance, Essence Reaver, Axiom Arc, Black Cleaver, Cosmic Drive/CDR boots. Everything lowers her ult to less than 40 seconds not including if Axiom Arc procs which then you could ult 3-4 times easily in a fight.
