Caracoles describes the ritual and rules of divination using shells in the Palo Mayombe religion. Arranger Mike Eckroth threads the almost bluesy vocal through a thicket of horns and a male chorus reminiscent of a traditional Palo ceremony before a coda in which the percussionists trade ecstatic improvisations over a mozambique groove.
