I had a 1988 XR600R was a gem of a bike. Thank you for a trip down memory lane. Beautiful dakar KTM as well thanks for giving us a look at it
I had a 2001 650R I used for green laning. A bit OTT and certainly not the ideal bike for that but I loved it but obviously not as much as the thieving scumbag who stole it.😡
Question: What have you done to your bikes for this Sandraiders run?
Harry: I made the exhaust quieter.
Charlie: I rebuilt the entire bike. 😂😂😂

I had a pretty much identical bike to the Marlboro HPN in the video.
Mine was an original R80G/S, uprated chassis by HPN, 1040 twin plug engine, extended carden shaft, same tank as on the Vid, plus an under seat tank, WP suspension with twin shocks at the rear. Took me solo from Cape Town to Zanzibar via a number of countries including Angola.
Hell of a trip . . Had two big smashes on the way but survived to tell the tale . . .

The BMW at 12:00 is a G650 Xmoto from 2007-9. There were three variants, which are quite sought after now although they didn’t sell well back when they were new. I run the XCountry variant every day for commuting and it’s a great bike.

I see several XR400’s there. One of the best all around bikes of all time. Have had mine for 20 years and it’s still amazing.

I was on the lookout for my old 03 KTM450exc that I spent 2 weeks on in Morocco and Spain last year and intended to bring to the US, but was sold to a UK buyer who took it to this event.
Harry, ace watching yourself and Charlie together, bikes look amazing. Looking forward to Sandraider updates.👍

I had a xr 650L for years. A very reliable go anywhere hog for sure! But pushing it hard in a race 🏁 would be an absolute handful with soft suspension and a chassis that flexes

Excellent, very much my thing, had one or two of these bikes back in the day - HPN BMW' g/s 's , Paris Dakar g/s's and 83 Honda XR 500 exactly like the one shown. . Thanks for the upload
The BMW is a G 650 XChallenge, based on the old 650 Rotax single cylinder. It was BMWs try to build a lightweight and sporty bike . It weights 155kilo with a full 9.5 liter tank.

how did the dominator cope? heavy in the sand ?- looking at a dominator or an xr 400 (im only 65kg) . the electric start might sway it - any thoughts ?

Love the Sandraiders videos. In 2019 I bought in Ho Chi Ming City, Vietnam a 1983 Honda XL600R (well stole it really) for USD $1000 and used it for two years through CoVid whilst based out there. It's currently in storage with a friend, with a plan to find a way to bring it back to the UK. Would love to do Sandraiders. Looking forward to your video on the event. Stay safe.

Your bike is spectacular!
FYI, the fuel tank on the Dakar replica HPN Airhead BMW is 43 litres capacity. Regarding the BMW with the extended tank, standard capacity is 32 litres, so I'm (educated) guessing it is now 35 litres, or maybe even a tad more.

Beautiful bikes! Too much focusing on XRs, though. Other bikes, like the old DR600 would have deserved 20 secs of your time😉.
It is no quite cheap to join the rally, that keeps me away to be there as well.
