What would be the top Five books you would recommend? I am currently a financial planning major looking to graduate next Fall, I want to get my hands on as many resources as possible Thank you!
False- we use a ton of low cost index funds. Fee-only also usually means fiduciary (for us it does) versus suitability. The real value comes with the financial and tax planning. If your situation is not complicated; enjoy our free content and resources. We are patient because success naturally creates complexity and we will leave the lights on. Thanks for the comment and for watching our content 👍
So do you guys think all commission based firms are terrible lol? If so, how am I supposed to get experience in the industry if 98% produce commission based advisors?
So glad I saw this before I took a company’s offer. Tricky and crooked. Very depressed now. I want to be an advisor but how do I do this the right way?
I am rather new to this industry, about a year in and working for Fidelity, but I want to work independently. I have been in mortgage for 20 years and I am great at sales..... I am just looking for more independence than fidelity has to offer. I've always been 1099d. What are some good companies to work with if you are interested in building your own business?
Hmmm. I feel like I've made allllllll the mistakes and I woke up one day sick of it and sick of my bad choices and as I learned better I wanted to share that with others... I wanna help others to better position themselves...
Portfolio management has been turned into a commodity. This is the battlefield that the Robos, Vanguard, Fidelity, and Schwab occupy. That is only one component of a financial plan. “Real” Financial Planners that focus on all aspects of a clients financial life are not being threatened or replaced.
I want to be a financial advisor to advise myself and not buy their services at all. How do I legally become a financial advisor so I have the letters after my name, but no sales. I will keep my Data Engineer job.
Yes and a really good advisor if they are analytical and work at a firm that emphasizes fiduciary comprehensive financial advice and are not glorified sales associates. Unfortunately this is a very small portion of the financial industry.
I really appreciate your show. So please, please, please don't record shows on the road. That is the definition of distracted driving. It makes you a danger to yourselves and others.

Fee only is essentially no different than paying commission. In both models, Advisors are incentivized to offer products with the highest fees.

Love it. Can't wait for this series. Thanks!
I like the ask the money guy segment. Like the advice. Not extreme one-size-fits-all approach other financial people take.
Glad you like the series Alex! It lets us answer a lot of questions that don’t make it into the shows.
