    Thanks for this great interview. Clem's besting of Serral at Dreamhack 2023 was truly historic and he sealed the deal by winning the finals makes it that much superb. Congrats Clem!

    Hello. I am a StarCraft 2 fan living in South Korea. Thank you for sharing an excellent interview with player Clem. As a long-time fan of StarCraft 2 and a supporter of Clem, I am inspired to share his thoughts with other fans in Korea. Therefore, I would like to translate Clem's interview into Korean. Could you please inform me where I can send related correspondence? I apologize if my limited English comes across as impolite.

    Clément sounds like such a nice guy. As a French Terran player it's pretty nice to be represented by him. Grats on his huge DreamHack win!

    hey man, I enjoy these interviews and appreciate them, so thanks for doing them. I'm not a podcast expert and you didn't ask for my feedback but... I'm gonna give it anyway because this is TH-cam and... I think you can make these interviews a lot better, more insightful, and more enjoyable to listen to. You seem to have a list of questions prepared so the interview has a Q&A feel. You ask the question, he responds, then you move on to the next question. There's no discussion about what you just heard. Responding with "yeah that's really cool" or "I agree" or some variation of that is not discussion and... it sounds cringe to be honest. The interviewee's statements being sandwiched by these confirmations doesn't add anything to the listeners' experience. The interviewee's statements don't need to be validated by the interviewer. You should listen to like, idk, a Lex Fridman conversation with Jeff Bezos or smth like that and count the number of times Lex follows up a story or statement with oh yeah that's definitely true or I agree with that. It's not gonna be a high count, probably zero. Second, you don't ask any follow up questions (most of the time). Some examples: he talked about improving a lot when he went to Korea and hung out with Special. As a listener, I'd be interested to go a little deeper. What's his relationship like with Special? What did he learn from him? Was Special different in some way like... the way he prepared or studied replays or thought about new strategies? Was his mentality different? Was there something he told him that when Clem heard it something clicked and it made a huge difference? Also, what was it about Korea that made Clem better? Being in a different location doesn't make you better, but... maybe being in that environment, that pro gamer house, something about it made him better. Also, life isn't just about StarCraft. A young French kid leaving home to live in Korea and work on his craft... is pretty cool and must have been an amazing experience. I'm sure there's a lot he could share about that entire experience, and not just things related to StarCraft. Then the question about nerves... We found out he hasn't talked about it with Reynor or Serral. Well, why not? Is there a reason? I imagine he either thinks nerves are just a part of the profession and nothing someone else says is going to help him, only he can conquer his nerves. Or, he doesn't want his direct competitors to know he's nervous because that'll give them an advantage in their next match. Or, he thinks they won't help him because they're competitors. What's the reason? What advice did TLO give him about nerves? Has he done research on other competitive people who struggled with nerves? How did they overcome it? Etc. Anyway that's just my two cents.

      I just got to the Saudi Arabia question. What was that experience like? We were treated very well. ... That's fantastic, that's what I've heard across the board. And that's all we heard about Saudi Arabia. Are you satisfied with that? We were treated well? There wasn't anything else about gamers8 or Saudi Arabia that you wanted to learn from Clem? It's so frustrating to listen to this 🤦‍♂️

      100% this. We might not get the chance of follow-up interviews with these people so taking the chance to do a really good conversational-styled interview would be so much more valuable for both the history of each individual and StarCraft itself.

      @@kgr_alex You are right about the sheer lack of discussion and plugging away at the pre-written questions, probably my only dislike about these interviews. A more relevant interviewer to listen to from the Esports space would be Thorin.
      As for the SA situation, you are crazy if you think a player on a team is going to be spilling any dirt about that stuff. The way it was brought up at all was honestly just flat out embarrassing, like trying to sweep it under the rug by saying "it's fine and all is good isn't it?" As the man shackled by his fiscal commitment has no choice but to say "yeah, they're all great!". If these people are financially committed to something like that because of their team and you expect them to give you a serious answer you are detached from reality, just skip that question entirely. These people need to be coached when going into a country with such extreme religious restrictions, no matter how much money they have they will never be safe if they do anything wrong.

      @@WalknTalknStevnHawkn I wasn't suggesting for him to talk shit about SA and the human rights, women's rights, all that... definitely not suggesting that but, you know, just being there with the boys, the food, the people, maybe he got to see some other parts of Riyadh, or maybe he just stayed at the hotel and focused on the games. stuff like that.

    • @kgr_alex
      @kgr_alex ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WalknTalknStevnHawkn it's a good point though, for sure, there's probably some things he can't or doesn't wanna talk about and that should be discussed before starting the recording...

    If Serral is the Finnisher then Clem is the Ender. I don't know how his hands didn't fall off after that ESL performance. It was literally the greatest, most complete Terran play I've ever seen. People talk balance without knowing how hard it is to do what he does on a consistent basis. Keep it up buddy you've brought the game back from a Zerg dominated hell.

    • @Benn1to

      Exactly! I don't know if he can keep it up, but what he did last weekend was bloody impressive. Even Maru would have folded vs Serral's pressure that series. Clem is a beast!

    Clem's a bit of a funny case for me. I first became aware of him watching Demu's streams ages ago. I imagined he was some hillbilly, but looked him up and found out he was an 15 year old Frenchman. xD He's among the most humble persons I've ever seen interviewed, and I love to see him succeed. And yet... Goddamnit, terran is busted. I guess I gotta compartmentalize. Regardless of the overall thing, I truly am happy for Clement Desplanches. He's a truly amazing player and person, and I'm happy that he's acheived one of his lifelong goals.
    ETA: seriously tho, stop beating MaxPax. :O

      Maxpax is gonna explode as well i'm sure, he improves each and every time I see him play, and nice to see you went past your first impression of Clem, it saddens me to see that most people can't do that anywhere in their lives 👍

    He has such and odd yet somehow charming mannerism. Nothing in that brain works like in any other brain.
    Even his way of speaking English. Very fluent, an accent but not strikingly French, but speaking very fast with the pacing and breathing of French nerds. I wonder if he speaks entirely clearly for English natives?

    Clem's great achievement in sc2 is crying, not saying hello when he loses 3 to 0 and abusing the Terrans who are OP, especially the mines that so many games have given him a unit that handles themselves

    • @unapodoahi
      @unapodoahi ปีที่แล้ว

      Well yes friends, the Terrans are that friendly noob with units like Viking 9 attack range, they are built 2 by 2 and they are the cheapest un air, mines and MMM ez
