    Close To The Edge was an incredible album that has stood the test of time for decades and is still one of the best albums ever recorded!
    The creativity and musicianship displayed are simply staggering!

    This is one of my favourite songs from YES. When I get tired of music and different songs and some of the mundane things of life I put this on and it is like a breath of fresh air. It takes you on a journey and away to a very peaceful and fantastic place. I put the piece up there with anything done by Bach Beethoven, Rachmininoff. This rendition is very evocative and it shows just what a classical piece of music it is at its root and as RIck says very melodic. After the music is over I feel refreshed and I can enter the world again!!!! Thank you YES!!!!

    Sigh..you, Jon, Steve, Chris & Bill truly hit the heights with this song (along with CTTE & AWAKEN...) The middle part is purely sublime. Your piano adaptation is a joy, Rick.

    • @dansmusic5749
      @dansmusic5749 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Totally agree. The heights. If I had to reduce Yes's catalogue to one song, I would pick "And You And I" as their best tune. It is original, clever and beautiful in the extreme.
      To me, this song had the catchy, emotion filled, melodic hook of a top 40 pop tune, while at the same time, not one iota of artistic integrity was lost. "Roundabout" would be the hard rocking second choice, for me. Popular music can sound gimmicky over time. Great songs do not. I place a high value on accessibility without losing artistic integrity. It takes great talent and effort to be that good. Yes could be that good.

    I usually click on alerts to TH-cam videos at the speed of light, when it comes to piano music videos...You can ask Vika.. 🙂 But, Sir, you're Rick Wakeman himself, playing a piano cover of one of your own creations, be it as yourself, or as the band Yes....And I couldn't click any faster as soon as I saw my alert...Too bad I didn't hear it when it hit my phone...But glad I'm here..enjoying this beauty of a performance...by one of the greatest! 😎

    Saw you perform this piece Rick, last friday Feb 25th here in L.A at the Ace Hotel Theatre. I was in tears it was so sublime. I listened to you talk about your creative process; So enlightening and close to my heart in my own creative process as an artist and architect. You gave me a gift with this performance of "And You and I" that I will take with me for the rest of my life along with the amazing music you have made and I have enjoyed since 1976 when I was 15 and discovered progressive rock... and your soul-touching work.

    I first got inti Wakemans music back when I was in my mid Teens after listening to early Yes albums at a friends house. What I also loved about Wakeman was his down to earth attitude and humour that contrasted sharply with the 'serious' nature of Yes's music ( Especially when I heard about the ordering a curry from a local Indian talkeaway during a gig and a few minutes later the said curry delivered to him on stage by a roadie) and I've been a fan ever since.
    He's a national treasure and may he continue tickling those ivories for many years to come.
