You are summarizing two of my core rules for coding:
    1. Functioning code above pretty code
    2. Good enough is just fine

I promise, the rest of the year, I won't talk about spagh..... code!

I really love game jams! You should host one Pascal

I would love this. It would probably help drive more traffic to his games as well.

Yes a game jam would really do great for Pascal. It would bring the indie game developers / developers community on the channel and other platforms to create something sweet to play! I would be onboard for that. Jams are my favorite part of the game making process

jams seem like a lot of work and time-investment on the organisation front.. which I don't have :) - and there are so many jams already!

Interesting to hear your wisdom about spagetti code. I've been doing small updates on my development over on my website. Thanks for the videos, they help motivate me when i start to slow down. Residual is looking awesome, great work

Good to hear that even very experienced game developers produce spaghetti code. This is a very good tipp. Don't waste too much time making beautiful code. Finish the game!
The people who play the game will never see the code. And also they don't care about that.
Although I think if you working on a game in a team or in a studio you have to keep it clean and avoid spaghetti code. If you are the only person working on the game it doesn't matter how it is as long as you understand it.

in a team you usually set strict code/guidelines, but even then it's possible to mess up the code and turn parts of it in spaghetti :D

Best one of the week, saved till last. Glad to hear it's not only my code that starts out with best intentions then ends up all over the place. Starting a new project this week. It looks so clean so far.....

haha stop touching that code right now, and it will stay clean!

Nice video Pascal! Keep suppressing that itch to start working on the new game. Good thing you are contract bound.
If you are just starting out with game development, I wouldn't even bother with the quality of your code. When you see repeating patterns after making a few games, then isolate that repeating code and refactor, so it's reusable. Always do this after releasing the product. I fell into the trap of keeping up the quality of my code and didn't release anything in years. I have broken that curse last week.

3 years later, just some advice from me: If you wanna make a video where you focus on talking, don't add distracting background music that makes it harder to understand and follow you. Other than that, great talk, thanks
