Hello Everyone! It's come to my attention that at 2:10, to pick up the chest is a mod feature Carry On, which allows you to put a basket or other types of containers on your back! I apologize for the confusion!
did you forget that you have carry on mod on for you cant lift chest in vanila. there are 2 mods that are good for early start are "more dry grass" that give more grass when cut until you get beter tools and "stick crafting" that make stick craftable when shoping fire wood untill you get beter tools
ROFL! Oh crap! Didn't notice it only took 10! Ah well, always good to have some spare! And I know there are a lot of details left out which would make it a 20 min video, but I tried to make it short and sweet!
Another good one for torches is keep two at a minimum. One in your basket and one on your hotbar. That way you don't accidently extinguish all of your torches while you run home in the middle of the night and fall in water. Never thought of that until I saw Rhadamant do it that way.
Another tip is to find your local Trader wagon and see if the wagon has any containers (baskets, vessels, chests, crates) where you can store some of the items you find, but don't immediately need. It's also a good idea to find out which type of Trader it is as some can come in real handy early game if you can sell them something as simple as clay to get your first rusty gear currency.
Naturally, I've always loved Minecraft since I started playing it in high school when it released, I'm sure most people who play Vintage Story do, but as I have gotten older I found myself more and more often wishing Minecraft had something a little more to it. I wished it were a little more intense, that the survival mechanics were more robust and in-depth, that the game world had more of an atmosphere and lore to it. Vintage Story feels like the developer heard my wishes and designed exactly the same I spent so much time wishing Minecraft could be, it's really something special and I'm excited to see what future updates to it will bring, I'm sure it's only going to get even better as development continues. I'd like to note, I don't mean to disparage Minecraft, I always have and anyways will love that game, and nothing can ever replace it in my eyes. I just mean to say that I always imagined and wished for what a version of Minecraft that was generally a little more intense and in-depth might look like, but especially now that I have Vintage Story to fill exactly that role Minecraft will always be legendary and a game that has had an impact on myself and countless others in a profound way that not many games do.
Thanks so much for the video :) i didn't know about the reed chests! - It seems to strange to me that a game that is so hardcore with survival doesen't include water drinking, or water gathering of any sort. I put my mud hut next to a lake because I thought that it would be useful to live near a big water source, but I think since there isn't much gameplay around water? except maybe catching fish? I might have to move a more open grassland spot
Well, you will need water for other reasons, like farming, quenching metals, making alcohol, making leather. So you just need to fill a whole with water using a bucket! A lot of food also uses water! So make sure you have some close by!
A tip regarding starting a fire for anyone who is having a bit of trouble reliably starting one quickly: build a torch and place it on the ground then use the firestarter on it instead, it should start very quickly compared to the fire. Then pick it back up, hold it in hand, and hold right mouse to use it on the fire. The fire should reliably start quickly, compared to the somewhat random length of time it takes to start the fire directly with the firestarter. I know it sounds like several steps compared to just lighting the fire directly, but I have found that the time saved doing it this way and perhaps more importantly (to me personally anyway) the more predictable nature of this method compared to using the firestarter directly on the fire is more than enough of a benefit to make up for the extra steps. Plus, now you have a lit torch ready to go that you can place in the offhand slot on your hotbar for either illumination in low light or for if your fire burns out and needs to be lit again.
Fun how I seem to have many playthroughs where I have to walk thousands of blocks before I encounter any reeds whatsoever. Let me make a stupid wooden box from firewood By the way, you keep saying 'make logs' but that's firewood you're making From logs.

Wait, can't you usually lift chests and vessels without the carry on mod? I might have to exclude that part
Great top 10 video! I would seriously have trouble condensing all these down into

@@Rakoona Haha, indeed, having an extra bit of grass won't hurt. Great job in keeping it short!
@@KurazarrhI wish my ex felt the same way when it’s less than 10 minutes……

hehe, I've done it as well! That's a good little add to the torch tip.

True! That is also a good tip!
Wow the tool/item crafting is way more detailed and in depth than I expected.
I should really get this game lol
Wait till you get to smithing! :D

Really good video. To the point and no fluff, great job man!
2:10 isn't feature that is added by mod?
Yeah, sadly, I never noticed that was a carry on mod feature only!
I'm feeling so small brain now, I didn't realize you could cook mushrooms, I've been eating them raw all this time (except in meals)

There is a thirst mod, two infact, one more hard-core, but they both add another level of survival
@@boscosworld That should actually be implemented in the game :D
Very nice 10 tips video! Short and straight to the point.
Thanks :D

That's very true! Lighting anything with a torch will be much quicker
Great timing I just got the game and have been looking for videos on starting out.
Well, really hope you enjoy the game!
How did you display the season, time of day, the temperature and rift activity in the top left corner?
Sry for the late reply! That is one of the mods that I use in my series.
Helpful, now if I could get a seed with clay anywhere lol
Well, clay is usually not that hard to find!

Yeah, might have said it wrong! As for the reed thing, that applies to many things in this game! There is always a ressource hard to find!
What mods were used in this video?
The only one that's shown in this video is the Carry on.
Promo SM 😀
My friend these are not tips they are GUIDES they have a difference
Hmmm, you have a point there!
