And one aggregator company in the energy sector seems to have a monopoly in the space.
Should you invest in this company's stock? And am I doing so?

As an energy sector professional I differ on lot of points
1.we do day to day trading on 15min slots in IEX platform as the electricity demand grows no of generation company are growing the volumes are also increasing.
2.Renewable energy certificate are brought through IEX
3.Energy sector is also moving towards privatisation,
4.CERC is looking for New Electricity Act 2020 beneficial to IEX , as the sector deregulate
5.Various Product of IEX for trading are not easy to emulate as well as users prefer IEX over others.
If govt want to regulate any thing they can not just electricity, like banks earlier.
Like NSE and BSE, IEX is platform for energy sector .
Very much agree with you. Points raised here in the video seems vague. Government can ask their friends to setup any business. This doesn't mean a market leader would go down.
What about Frequency based tarif?

Also very soon we will see long terms contracts getting traded….with NTPC contracts the first of them.
With 5% of the market traded the potential is huge even if the market share reduces as the penetration will of EX will only increase if we follow other nations similar to us.
I thinkthat considering we as a nation are highly energy dependent with majority of population at or below Lower middle class level.
So if government wants to provide cheaper/even free power in their states, there is high probablity that they'll Cap upper limits for charges on energy trading as seen in various other touchy sectors.
Plus considering that if everything which Adani dreams gets built on ground he'll be a significant player in power production/transmission, so higher probablity that either IEX gives him discounted trading or he builds his own platform with other partners.
He surely will get a loan from SBI even for this.
Maybe at 40-50rs can invest considering it'll pay good dividend in future

@peter wojcik Gabriel .All you have to do as a beginner to make good profit in cryptocurrency is trade with a professional trader who Will always notify when to BUY/SELL else you make losses.
I've stop worrying about the fall in price of Bitcoin since I began using Mentor Derek Mia Scott strategy and I have made gains everyday, even when the price is going down. Never ends well with dictators, stay strong Ukraine.
Best thing that happened to me last year that I can attest to is the progress I have made so far on trade. Venturing into crypto was my best decision ever I know more is yet to come 2022.

My experience as a consultant in US power markets tells me the trade of wholesale power in a market structure is bound to increase as legacy thermal plants retire and variable generation becomes more prominent. What is also not discussed in the video is the rise of new products such as GDAM and GTAM and likely more in the form of Ancillary and Capacity markets. This space is booming. IEX is the oldest exchange that has seen consistent increase in power traded YoY. There's something for everybody in this space provided you see the space growing. I do.

I would also like to add that power trading market in Europe is going on successfully and such problems as anticipated in this video is non existent. Power trading in India is in its nascent state with about 6% transaction and huge possibilities and potential exist.
Good explanation 👍👍 I'm from Power Department and joined multiple 1-2 training of IEX. I'm bullish on this business model. Long term contract/ PPA are for the past only.
Even after being a consultant in US power market space, you can't put 2 and 2 together and realize who runs platforms analogous to IEX in Amercian states, I'll give you a hint: it's not a separate entity from distributors or power generation companies.

That is not to say that it would always be bleak looking as regulations can change again. But it surely is not a good time right now. I hope this makes you feel relevant.
Very detailed description of the business, that I liked the most. For long term investment, it is most required, but people overlook this.

I will stick by my earlier forecasts based on the fact that whilst inflation may settle down somewhat it will still hang around the 7%-8% level and continue to bite the consumer throughout 2023 as interest rates go beyond 4%. The S&P will fall to 2950 and Nasdaq to 8750. 2023 is looking like being another disastrous year as we lurch from one economic/energy driven crisis to another
Most difficult part about this current market environment for new investors, is filtering out the good from the bad. Just because a company is down 50%+, does not make it a sound investment. Do your OWN due diligence & invest in great companies or IFs/ETFs.
Thats why it’s important to trade with guidance and over some sort of speculations. since i started trading with ''Eileen Ruth Sparks'' i have understood that strategy and time in the market beats alot of volatility. i am 25% up and still counting.
@@claraclouse9086 Set a risk and stick to your plan, cut losses quickly, do not hold and hope, have a reward to risk ratio greater or equal to 2:1, hope this helps.

Besides the regular distributors, IEX has 500+ Conventional generators, 4400+ commercial and industrial consumers from metal, food, cement, ceramic, auto industries.
IEX is also going cross border, towards an integrated South Asian power market.
Only 6% of the power traded in India is thru exchanges and the Govt is trying to promote and increase this to 30%.
Hence I don't expect a noteworthy dent in the revenue of IEX in the near future. I strongly feel, that its a very good price point to make an entry now. Regards

Akshat, you made the business model of IEX crystal clear..what an explanation..I am an investor in IEX after hearing all the momentum stories but haven't done this much in-depth analysis..now I want to get out of this stock as soon as my buying price gets matched..I would request you to do similar type of analysis for IRCTC..
IRCTC also.. govt regulated.. it's not good at all...
IEX will surely grow as the things with regulation needs time and even if new players emerge to gain market share, The market itself of Power trading in India is 6% compared to other nations.
Hence the Entire Market is going to expand with electricity need in Future.
So IEX itself has 95% market share in entire 6%. Down the line 5 yrs from now the Indian power trading market even if it doubles to 12% then IEX market share even with competition will increase.
Also Government has Control over 2 exchanges in India for Pricing and won't allow more players as they will disrupt the market and create owns monopoly.
So Concluding, Only invest 5-10% of entire portfolio in IEX and Also have patience as the Business is strong and demand for power is high. And IEX in today's time has all the technology for trading platform.

1) if it greater than 5% sell
2) if it lesser than 5% buy untill it reaches 5% threshold( if your investing split your money in to 4 to 5 Chunks of investment)

Apprehension about 2 big friends is genuine, ought to happen when MBED ll be implemented where henceforth all transactions ll be routed through exchanges and of course IEX wouldn’t be in position to cater such large transactions on daily basis so swiftly big friends ll come on stage 😊 BTW nowdays MoP is continuously poking their nose invoking section 176 as generic trend!
Not true there cannot be conflict of interest and other players will not come onto the platform owned by the “two friends”. That’s just basic common sense

Sorry, I beg to differ on a lot of points regarding the long term prospects of IEX:
1. There will always be spot trading due to the changing dynamics of supply and demand. Plus, the entry of more open access customers in near future and the nearby SAARC nations will bring more to the equation and in making IEX more relevant from long term perspective.
2. IEX also has IGX as its subsidiary. With India poised to grow into a more gas driven economy, IGX's role will become more relevant. With more foreign players coming to tap into the Indian gas market, IGX will also play a big role for IEX if plans go well.
3. Regarding the comment on 2 friends, I cannot understand the logic behind this because exchange is an ecosystem of belief and trust. There's a mix of participants of IEX and not just govt entities and big Pvt players. These 2 friends will never think of opening their own exchange solely because they know this fact that the participants (mostly the open access customers) and the other unrelated parties will never trade in their exchange just because of the lack of trust of fair pricing and "conflict of interest". At most, these 2 friends can own a stake of the exchange if the commission allows. But, there will always be an independent operator of the exchange and the operator will never be the 2 friends.
4. Relating to the third point, Adani Total Gas has a 5% stake in IGX.
Very valid points totally agree also to add to it carbon trading is going to be on iex. Sometimes too much iq has its disadvantages 😂

Hi Akshat! I have liked many of your videos for the way you explained fundamentals very nicely. In this case (IEX), however, I find your research flawed and incomplete.
Most buyers don’t have steady demand. Big plants have fluctuating demand per season, lesser in night shifts etc. So the long term contracts are never at a peak load. But companies need to manage the demand variation. That’s where these exchanges play an important role. There are multiple other factors which will take time for me to explain.
Dear Mr. Sharma, would love to here your views on points that you have raised, this would help fine-tune the investment decision.

What I can say in short for now is that not only our organisation, but also many I know have been saving significant money using energy trading. There are always on a daily basis or ultra short term basis supply-demand imbalances which are fulfilled by such exchanges. IMHO as people go for captive power sources, the need to fill the ultra short term demand to cater to such imbalances will go up as they would be cautious in entering into long term contracts for the sustained power demand - most of which will be met captively

Iex is lic of power exchange. Yes, players will come but belief will always be with IEX for some time. PE perspective is correct, over valued but we cannot take valuation only. There are many stocks with higher PE. IEX will be good for few more years. It's not easy to establish an exchange.

In continuation of previous comment- All State Electricity Boards also purchase REC in IEX platform according to their renewal power obligation and it is huge amount of fee. IEX platform is automated and IEX has cross border trade with Nepal and expected to be extended to neighbouring countries like Myanmar, Sri Lanka , Bhutan etc. EX is a member of APEX (Association of Power Exchange, Audubon, Pennsylvania). Wishing that you'd make one comprehensive video regarding future growth prospect of IEX considering everything, in near future as we the viewers count on your analysis.

Great video, somewhat agree with your analysis but in the short term if we consider a scenario where short term power contracts market share increases by 4-5% over the next few years and iex maintains its monopoly position that will be enough for investors to book amazing returns.

Though I agree with your take on zomato about paying 30% more, there are still various restaurants which give 60% discounts upto Rs. 120 where I have personally checked, a lot of times is mostly cheaper than buying offline.
