Things no one is talking about 1) The fact he's still singing on pitch and sounding good despite how much breath is needed for running down stairs, pole dancing, etc. 2) That sassy head shimmy.
KuraiChan There is a possible explanation: the medicine makes her have "odd and unusual sexual feelings" (I don't remember the exact lyrics), but that could explain part of it
Also he is the embodiment of her mental state which is in control of her and her family at this point. This song, with the pole dancing and prompting Natalie to take drugs, just shows off the power he/the disease has over everyone.
I can never figure out whether or not Gabe is toxic to Diana/the family or not...he is clearly a negative force in their life but at the same time it seems like he's trying to convince them to allow themselves to process their emotions-to grieve, acknowledge their loss-instead of pushing them down. I used to think he was just the antagonist in the story but his character is so much more complex than that.
I think he’s mocking them for the fact that they won’t do the one thing that will get rid of him. When Dan finally acknowledges him, he actually is sincerely sad, and goes away.
Sascha Houpt exactly, as he sings in this song ”if you won’t grieve me, you won’t leave me behind” and in i am the one (reprise) when dan actually acknowledges and ”grieves” him, he leaves him behind.
i think aftershock is another song that shows how complex his character is. he talks about how they’re trying to help her but they’re still not managing the root of the problem. it’s odd cuz he represents mental illness but he also is explaining what they need to do in order to help themselves. that’s kind of an aspect that he brings throughout the entire show, from the very beginning he tells his mom that she needs to worry about him less
i’ve always listened to the cast recording and loved the bit when he sings ”no, no, no, i’m alive” and i never knew it was basically a response to dr. madden and i love it oh i love this show and i love aaron tveit
Everyone's commenting about his pole dancing (which is amazing, don't get me wrong) but did anyone else notice his freakin arms! Dude is hot, can sing, dance, act, is one of the most sincere and polite people you'll ever meet, and he has a rockin body! Just saying
Not gonna lie... one of my life's dreams is to sing this at a Broadway Miscast, taunting Aaron Tveit, singing all around him (as he pretends not to notice me) like the pole-dancing ghost he once was... edit: I just did my research and its already been done. Dream crushed. (._. )
Its fascinating how Gabe actually gives her the solution to her troubles in this song: "if you try to deny me I'll never die." All she has to do is admit her grief and allow herself to heal to let Gabe move on
It's been 15 years... And I saw the show in different cities with different casts. But there is no Gabe like Aaron. This whole cast was incredible. We need a n2n DVD of the original Broadway cast 🥹🥹🥹🫶🏽
NO ONE DISLIKED THIS VIDEO. proving everyone loves aaron tveit or gabe the pole dancing ghost
lol checks out two years later
suzie katz 6 years
Still going strong
still going
suzie katz nope, one person
Things no one is talking about
1) The fact he's still singing on pitch and sounding good despite how much breath is needed for running down stairs, pole dancing, etc.
2) That sassy head shimmy.
That first note was flat though 😂😂
That sassy head shimmy was amazing
Helps if you rehearse this song while running on the treadmill, like Aaron did.
It's very interesting that Diana pictures her son as a poledancing Aaron Tveit. Is there an opposite to Oedipus Complex?
I read Oedipus Rex recently & I was so happy I knew what Oedipus Complex meant outside of school lol

KL _144 odd and alarming. Close, though.
STOP

how did you spend your summer?
oh i watched aaron tveit pole dancing on loop for three months straight.
I can never figure out whether or not Gabe is toxic to Diana/the family or not...he is clearly a negative force in their life but at the same time it seems like he's trying to convince them to allow themselves to process their emotions-to grieve, acknowledge their loss-instead of pushing them down. @@helmi7923 it's funny because I heard that line extremely sinister. He won't let them grieve him because he doesn't want to be left behind.
i think aftershock is another song that shows how complex his character is. he talks about how they’re trying to help her but they’re still not managing the root of the problem. it’s odd cuz he represents mental illness but he also is explaining what they need to do in order to help themselves. that’s kind of an aspect that he brings throughout the entire show, from the very beginning he tells his mom that she needs to worry about him less
As a character I see him more as a personification of their issues, not really causing them he’s just calling their problems out
i’ve always listened to the cast recording and loved the bit when he sings ”no, no, no, i’m alive”
and i never knew it was basically a response to dr. madden and i love it oh i love this show and i love aaron tveit
Aaron Tveit is so amazing that it’s kind of distracting from how sad this scene really is. He’s absolutely perfect
The fact that the entire fandom has accepted that Gabe is professional pole dancer makes me so happy
Congratulations on being a perfect human being, Aaron Kyle Tveit.
How Aaron manages to stay completely how pitch while doing the choreography at 0:44 completely makes me fall head over heels for this man
Everyone's commenting about his pole dancing (which is amazing, don't get me wrong) but did anyone else notice his freakin arms! Dude is hot, can sing, dance, act, is one of the most sincere and polite people you'll ever meet, and he has a rockin body! Just saying
I would like but it’s at 69
This comment is the most accurate thing-
How did he not get a tony nomination for this
Never in my life have I desired to be a pole more than this moment.
THAT HIGH NOTE I NEED JESUS
everything is Aaron Tveit and nothing hurts.
ME
Not gonna lie... one of my life's dreams is to sing this at a Broadway Miscast, taunting Aaron Tveit, singing all around him (as he pretends not to notice me) like the pole-dancing ghost he once was...
edit: I just did my research and its already been done. Dream crushed. (._. )
I just laughed aloud in class at this idea and everyone looked at me funny. Worth it though.
Omg where’s the video?
I love this scene. It's so powerful and heart-wrenching
Aaron Tveit deserved a tony for this role.
I love his little head thing he does at 0:50
It’s called the sassy head shimmy
I'm gonna have dreams of Aaron Tveit pole dancing now... *presses replay*
I wasn't sure whether to cry or laugh at this
So I kind of did both
Its fascinating how Gabe actually gives her the solution to her troubles in this song: "if you try to deny me I'll never die." All she has to do is admit her grief and allow herself to heal to let Gabe move on
so much sass

aaron tveit has played a conmnan, student revolutionary and a part- time pole- dancer. is there anything this man can't do?
Damn Aaron's pole dancing!
Aaron can dance on poles for me anytime
Oh I adore this man.....
this song is catchy
I like the parts with the poles.
gotta be honest here. I have never been so jealous of a pole/poles....
god bless
Ok so clearly, by all these clips there has to be a professionally recorded version of this show sooooooo.......
Aaron Tveit pole dancing. 'nuf said
Haha! He's so cute!!!!
Take a shot every time he says “I’m alive”
Aaron freaking Tveit
It's so sad that he is saying he is alive when actually be is dead
Get nominated for a Tony?
The symbolism of gabe giving Natalie the pill bag
does this mean there’s a pro shot 👁👁
SOMEONE RELESE IT PLEASE
Ouch.
name 10 people who don't :P
