Respect italian soldier! The battle of El Alamein caused the death of 13,500 British, 17,000 Italians, 9,000 Germans and was one of the most decisive of the Second World War: it put an end to the Italian-German threat on the Suez Canal, handing over absolute domination of the Mediterranean to the British . By erasing an entire front from the chessboard, in perspective it paved the way for the second front, i.e. the landing in Sicily intended to bring the allies back to Europe. The last to surrender at El Alamein were the Folgore paratroopers. Clinging to the edge of the El Qattara depression, they faced the 13th Army Corps which, according to the English version, had to engage only to give life to a false purpose, while in reality it had to fight one of the toughest and most exhausting local battles breakthrough of the entire front. Folgore's men resisted for 13 days without yielding a meter. Upon surrender they had the honor of arms and the name of their division has remained legendary ever since. The English BBC on November 11, after the battle, commented: "the remains of the Folgore division have resisted beyond all limits of human possibilities". The British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, in the aftermath of the battle, said: "we must bow down before the remains of those who were the lions of the Folgore". A sacrifice well summarized by the words of the Gold Medal, Ten. Col. Alberto Bechi Luserna: "among the sands that are no longer deserted, the boys of the Folgore are here for eternity, the flower of a people and an army in arms . Fallen for an idea, without regrets, honored by the memory of the same enemy".

When I clicked I immediately looked away and an ad started playing instead, and when I heard the music in the ad while thinking it was the video I was horrified that any country would think what I heard was a marching song. Then I looked back to see the video start and was so relieved. XD
The interesting fact about the Bersaglieri is that they were formed because during that time in Italian history, cavalry was too expensive and they could not afford it so what did they do? They created a mobile foot unit that ran fast to get them where they were needed quickly which is how the quick march developed and the running everywhere. In later wars, they used everything from bicycles to motorcycles to get them quickly from one area to another. Talk about hard charging! It reminds me of Teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders who basically had to become dismounted cavalry and fought on foot throughout the Spanish American War down in Cuba. It is amazing what various countries have done militarily to make due with what they had and often times, it worked out better.

The Bersaglieri (Italian pronunciation: [bersaʎˈʎɛːri]) (Marksmen in English) are a corps of the Italian Army originally created by General Alessandro La Marmora on 18 June 1836 to serve in the Army of the Kingdom of Sardinia, later to become the Royal Italian Army. They have always been a high-mobility light infantry unit, and can still be recognized by the distinctive wide brimmed hat that they wear (only in dress uniform in modern times), decorated with black capercaillie feathers. The feathers are usually applied to their combat helmets. Another distinctive trait of the Bersaglieri is the fast jog pace they keep on parades, instead of marching.
Viva l'Italia semper.
Cool video and thank you for sharing. I will admit the hat had me curious for a minute or two. However I have to admit when the started running and playing while one cobblestone.... that was awesome. I was stationed in Germany way back and we had to do PT (physical training) and I rolled my ankles plenty of time. I just though then running and playing was cool and you toss in them running on the cobblestone that’s just wicked. Again thank you for sharing this cool video.
Those boys have some quality lungs, not to mention musical skills. Hemingway must have lost a girlfriend to one of them, he doesn't describe them favourably in " For whom the bells toll ".
@Jack Tangles You can't do much against tanks without the proper equipment, which is one if the reasons we failed in North Africa. But look at the second battle of Bir el Gubi, where 1454 Bersaglieri stopped the advance of 20000 British troops in a fee days without help. The Bersaglieri were also heavily involved in almost all of the greatest victories in Africa

Fantastycznie! Viva Italia! Respekt from me, from Poland :)

Bravo.
Muchas gracias hermano :) ♡

I'm tired just watching them. Fantastic performance.

Adrian , mulțumesc ❤
love the hat. The feathers have such a nice bounce.
Viva l'Italia semper.
SEMPLICEMENTE FANTASTICO E COMMOVENTE VEDERE QUESTI ANCOR OGGI RAGAZZI CORRERE COSI CON ANIMO ED AMORE.
Gotta love these musicians!
Fascinant !
Siete i miei Italiani, grazie.
GRAZI, FROM USA. KEEP YOUR ITALIAN IDENTITY.

keep yours then, and move back there.
I was wondering when they would start double timing! Excellent!
@Jack Tangles I'll just say one name, El Alamein
@Jack Tangles the fought so valiantly that even the enemy gave them anything but praises and respect.
@Jack Tangles quite a few
@@nandobrando4619 Dont forget we beat Britain in the first and at the second the Bersaglieri may not have made fame their but our 205th Folgora made fame their for a famous stand for weeks and made a huge dent in the forces of Britain.

How the hell do they run and play?? WTF
is bersaglieri
instead of to march slow in a line waiting for the enemy shells is better to run against the enemy making as short as possible the critical time, and the music makes hero as in all army

My mom's cousin was one of them. They run all-the-time. They do everything by running, if they are caught walking they get punished. They are assault troops, they run into battle.
