Great review. The whole band is so tight. And, for me, Floor is the best female singer in the world, bar none. She can sing whatever she wants. Not too sure of many others who can do that.

Also, please remember that she wasn't an official member of the band at this point she was just a fill-in singer for the last 10 months of this tour. And these fans weren't her fans, they were Nightwish fans, over 80k of them.
Floor's pitch (not key) control is as good as it gets, her range is stellar, she commands absolute dynamic nuance of emotion at whatever amplitude the song requires. She's just the whole package. Period.

I'm pretty sure Floor can sing that, and hold her own beer. Hell, she has so much vocal control that she can probably sing that song, whilst sculling (scull = Australian for skol) her beer.

She did also go on to take further lessons at the Conseratorium Tilburg for the operatic and classical styles, but selectively - just what she wanted, as she has never been interested in becoming a pure opera singer. Then when her career took off, she didn't have the time anyway. She was already singing with After Forever from age 16, so it is a wonder that she managed that amount of study. No wonder she burned out running ReVamp and had to take a break - then Nightwish called her at her sister's wedding in The Netherlands on 29th September 2012, and she went on stage with them in Seattle on 1st October. Within 10 days she'd rearranged "Ghost Love Score to suit her vocal style and written the amazing ending and got them to try it out in Austin TX on the 10th Oct. 10 weeks later it was her name the fans were chanting after concerts - those same fans who had bought their tickets before she was even mentioned and expecting to see her predecessor, Anette. This concert was 10 months later, still on that same world tour (although almost at the end of it). Following the tour she released her 2nd (and, it later transpired, final) album with her own band ReVamp, then on the 9th October 2013 was announced as the permanent member and lead vocalist of Nightwish. The rest is herstory.

So I’m not the only one with a passion for these two bands. This is nice to see. In terms of musicianship, composition and storytelling Nightwish is second to none. Add on top of that add the best singer of her generation in Floor and you have pure magic. In The Warning you have 3 young ladies whose passion for music is only matched by their quality as human beings. They are a breath of fresh air for the music industry when it needs it the most. Since then there is no one day that I haven’t listened them minimum two hours per day. First time I saw Survive from TedX, I just cried my happiness. These three amazing sisters came and saved my faith to Rock n’ Roll. History is made right now. They are goin’ to be legends some day. Saw them at Whisky January 2020. It was so great. Great reaction. Actually Floor has done Rock academy AND conservatorium. If you want to look into her background, I reccommend 'Monolith of doubt' live at the kopspijkers tv show in 2002. She was just 21 I think. It's heavy, they've got violin players on stage and you can watch and listen to her operatic singing style and her living the song.
In an interview, Floor said that now that she's 40, she'll be doing the windmill a lot less so she doesn't have any neck issues. She did have a problem early in her career and apparently a Chiropractor helped her to do the windmill so it didn't hurt her neck but now she's no longer a young lady so she has to watch what she's doing.

Her fan base is crazy, but at the time this was filmed she was still only a guest vocalist in the band, having been with the band less than 6 months, and the 3rd singer the band had used. I think you should go to Romanticide, or song of myself from the same show (live at wacken 2013) for a great surprise... she's not the only singer on that stage and the harmonies are phenomenal!

Hi Schnell, safe to say the Nightwish Army is upon you. 😊 Awesome reaction, I'm glad you enjoyed the sights and sounds. 😉 As I have transitioned more towards the symphonic metal genre, I've noticed that they tend to be perfectionists. As the guitar player said, "Showing off is no longer necessary when playing live." As a musician myself, I always did feel that giving the fans the songs in the same way they've grown to love them is so satisfying enough. So just play what they heard in the album and play it well. 🤘 Floor is a soprano trained in and used to teach opera as well as was a vocal coach. Unfortunately her career duties don't allow her time to teach anymore. She prides herself a "geek" on knowing anything and everything there is to know about the vocal mechanism and how it works. From breath management in the diaphragm, rib muscles and lung capacity, down to the resonating tone created by the shape of the skull, and everything in between. She studied in the Dutch Rock Academy for 4 years in 1999, entering the Conservatorium Tilburg in 2003 where she got enough points at the Rock Academy to attend 1 more year at Tilburg, and she studied 1 year of musical theater and opera. Floor was a huge fan of Dutch opera singer, Henk Poort in her teenage years, who happened to be her inspiration for singing opera. You will see him eventually. 😊 Her tone and versatility, along with her storytelling ability makes her one of the best singers in the world. Floor also attended a Dutch TV show called Beste Zangers (Best Singers) in 2019 where she won the title that season. A little info about the show.... 6 artists participate in the show where each week, 1 artist gets to sit down, see and hear the others sing a version (cover) of his/her song or a cover of a random song that has had a special meaning to them. The artist then judges the singer by performance and emotion and then chooses the "best singer" in that round. Each week the same is repeated with a different singer sitting and listening and grading the other singers. Henk Poort also participated in the show and performed a duet with Floor, of "Phantom of the Opera" as the grand finale in the shows last episode of the season in December. Comparing who's "better" makes no sense at this top level of proficiency. But if you want to say who's the most versatile singer of today, Floor Jansen is a pretty safe bet. Shen can belt, do head voice, operatic coordination, contemporary coordination, soft, clean, breathy, heavy, distorted, straight, vibrato, and any arbitrary mix of the above over a huge range of pitch, with the style of diction, volume, melody and rhythm of choice. And if that's not enough, she has some special surprises up her sleeve... for which you should watch Yours is an Empty Hope live at Wembley.

Floor is the Michael Jordan of singers: the pinnacle of talent, knowledge of her craft and hard work without weakness. We mere mortals just gape in awe and enjoy the show for as long as it lasts.
There's a spiritual level where animals and all nature will obey you. Like happened with many of the saints of all religions. Electrons as well. I had the honor and the luck to wittness this, not like a demonstration, cause this people are so humble that will never show it to brag about it. Nightwhish live is always a pleasure, hearing Floor and Marco (try "Song of Myself" from Wacken) and seeing they all having a good time on stage. "Dead Boys Poem" live at Buenos Aires is also worth a view (and listen), its a bit softer but so beautiful. To get an idea how versatile Floor is, try her songs at "Beste Zangers". Its a great dutch TV show and I bet you'll like that.
Jukka is so awesome drummer and here one can really hear it. Replacing a drummer in Nightwish is almost impossible but Kai does so well now fortunately.
Floor goes from lyric soprano to demon growling. She’s insanely talented and on top of it all she’s a well-grounded human. If you want to hear her demon growl then watch “Yours is an empty hope” There’s 3 live videos of it but the Wembley one is really good.

In your future Nightwish reaction, I recommend anything from the Wacken 2013 concert, just because of the audio/video quality. To hear more of Floor's amazing vocal range, hear her growl in YOURS IS AN EMPTY HOPE. She will make you cry in THE POET AND THE PENDULUM. But, for the grand finale of THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH, you have to see the one from Tampere, Finland. The one with the fireworks. It's about The Big Bang and evolution. She does some animal growling in that one. But, don't let the time counter scare you. It is worth the ride and in so many ways, lives up to the title. Watch all the way to the end.
Floor's performance, as well as Nightwish's overall performance, at Wacken 2013 is hands down the greatest live performance I've ever had the pleasure to witness.

When Floor taught voice, one of her students started a prog metal band called Scardust along with an all metal choir called the Hellscore. They have more of a musical metal feel with some great musicianship. Check out "Dials" by them if you've wondered what a metal Hamilton might sound like or the song "Gone" which is a favorite of the singer, Noa Gruman.
I found this group about 10 months ago or so, and i was lucky enough to have seen the first song by them i have ever heard, Ghost love score" and have floor sing it. Hooked ever since. I love her, i love the band.
It's obvious that you have much to little Nightwish in your life 😉 Nightwish's songs are often deep in topics like nature, evolution, technology, science, and the impacts of humans on these things and vice versa - plus songs of the human mind. The composer (Tuomas, keyboard) are considered as the modern Mozart, or Metal Mozart as he is called. Floor is the best singer in the universe, and you have still only scratched the surface of her capabilities. Floor is educated on the Dutch Rock Academy (4 years), plus 1 opera and 1 musical year. But she has never stopped learning and evolving, in fact she creates her own voice techniques - and breath techniques as well, while some of the thing she does are impossible - but not for Floor - a total voice nerd. And her stage performance and crowd control!!! I think we will take the other band members one by one, when you realize how great they all are. I suggest you stick to the Wacken 2013 concert for some more songs - you could look up the setlist and just pick one, all great and none are alike. At the Wacken 2013 concert, Floor had only been with Nightwish in 10 month replacing Anette in the middle of a world tour. Floor was at her sister's wedding, (Floor had been ill for 18 month, not been performing at all) - she the call, jumped on a plane from the Netherlands to US, and learned the setlist in 48 hours, before she enter the stage for the first time in 18 month... (the documentary "Learn the setlist in 48 hour" are describing this). 10 month later were close to end of the world tour - at Wacken - and a few month later, Floor (and Troy) were officially announced as permanent members of Nightwish. Great review. The whole band is so tight. And, for me, Floor is the best female singer in the world, bar none. She can sing whatever she wants. Not too sure of many others who can do that.

Floor Jansen, our Dutch Valkyrie. She is classical trained in the Netherlands at the Rock Academy in Tilburg. Floor is a vocal coach also. For more info and the diversity of her voice search for ''Beste Zangers''. You will hear Floor sing: Opera, Lady Gaga, Phantom of the Opera and much more!!
She did also go on to take further lessons at the Conseratorium Tilburg for the operatic and classical styles, but selectively - just what she wanted, as she has never been interested in becoming a pure opera singer.
Then when her career took off, she didn't have the time anyway. She was already singing with After Forever from age 16, so it is a wonder that she managed that amount of study. No wonder she burned out running ReVamp and had to take a break - then Nightwish called her at her sister's wedding in The Netherlands on 29th September 2012, and she went on stage with them in Seattle on 1st October. Within 10 days she'd rearranged "Ghost Love Score to suit her vocal style and written the amazing ending and got them to try it out in Austin TX on the 10th Oct. 10 weeks later it was her name the fans were chanting after concerts - those same fans who had bought their tickets before she was even mentioned and expecting to see her predecessor, Anette.
This concert was 10 months later, still on that same world tour (although almost at the end of it).
Following the tour she released her 2nd (and, it later transpired, final) album with her own band ReVamp, then on the 9th October 2013 was announced as the permanent member and lead vocalist of Nightwish.

So I’m not the only one with a passion for these two bands. This is nice to see. In terms of musicianship, composition and storytelling Nightwish is second to none. Add on top of that add the best singer of her generation in Floor and you have pure magic. In The Warning you have 3 young ladies whose passion for music is only matched by their quality as human beings. They are a breath of fresh air for the music industry when it needs it the most. These three amazing sisters came and saved my faith to Rock n’ Roll. History is made right now. They are goin’ to be legends some day. Saw them at Whisky January 2020. It was so great. Great reaction. Actually Floor has done Rock academy AND conservatorium. If you want to look into her background, I reccommend 'Monolith of doubt' live at the kopspijkers tv show in 2002. She was just 21 I think. It's heavy, they've got violin players on stage and you can watch and listen to her operatic singing style and her living the song.

In an interview, Floor said that now that she's 40, she'll be doing the windmill a lot less so she doesn't have any neck issues. She did have a problem early in her career and apparently a Chiropractor helped her to do the windmill so it didn't hurt her neck but now she's no longer a young lady so she has to watch what she's doing.

Her fan base is crazy, but at the time this was filmed she was still only a guest vocalist in the band, having been with the band less than 6 months, and the 3rd singer the band had used. I think you should go to Romanticide, or song of myself from the same show (live at wacken 2013) for a great surprise... she's not the only singer on that stage and the harmonies are phenomenal!

As I have transitioned more towards the symphonic metal genre, I've noticed that they tend to be perfectionists. As the guitar player said, "Showing off is no longer necessary when playing live." As a musician myself, I always did feel that giving the fans the songs in the same way they've grown to love them is so satisfying enough. So just play what they heard in the album and play it well. 🤘
Floor is a soprano trained in and used to teach opera as well as was a vocal coach. Unfortunately her career duties don't allow her time to teach anymore.
She prides herself a "geek" on knowing anything and everything there is to know about the vocal mechanism and how it works. From breath management in the diaphragm, rib muscles and lung capacity, down to the resonating tone created by the shape of the skull, and everything in between.
She studied in the Dutch Rock Academy for 4 years in 1999, entering the Conservatorium Tilburg in 2003 where she got enough points at the Rock Academy to attend 1 more year at Tilburg, and she studied 1 year of musical theater and opera.
Floor was a huge fan of Dutch opera singer, Henk Poort in her teenage years, who happened to be her inspiration for singing opera.
You will see him eventually. 😊
Her tone and versatility, along with her storytelling ability makes her one of the best singers in the world.
Floor also attended a Dutch TV show called Beste Zangers (Best Singers) in 2019 where she won the title that season.
A little info about the show....
6 artists participate in the show where each week, 1 artist gets to sit down, see and hear the others sing a version (cover) of his/her song or a cover of a random song that has had a special meaning to them.
The artist then judges the singer by performance and emotion and then chooses the "best singer" in that round.
Each week the same is repeated with a different singer sitting and listening and grading the other singers.
Henk Poort also participated in the show and performed a duet with Floor, of "Phantom of the Opera" as the grand finale in the shows last episode of the season in December. Henk played the role of the Phantom in the Dutch version of the musical from 1993-1996 and is very popular in the Netherlands.

Comparing who's "better" makes no sense at this top level of proficiency. But if you want to say who's the most versatile singer of today, Floor Jansen is a pretty safe bet. Shen can belt, do head voice, operatic coordination, contemporary coordination, soft, clean, breathy, heavy, distorted, straight, vibrato, and any arbitrary mix of the above over a huge range of pitch, with the style of diction, volume, melody and rhythm of choice. And if that's not enough, she has some special surprises up her sleeve... for which you should watch Yours is an Empty Hope live at Wembley.

Nightwhish live is always a pleasure, hearing Floor and Marco (try "Song of Myself" from Wacken) and seeing they all having a good time on stage.
"Dead Boys Poem" live at Buenos Aires is also worth a view (and listen), its a bit softer but so beautiful.

In your future Nightwish reaction, I recommend anything from the Wacken 2013 concert, just because of the audio/video quality. To hear more of Floor's amazing vocal range, hear her growl in YOURS IS AN EMPTY HOPE. She will make you cry in THE POET AND THE PENDULUM. But, for the grand finale of THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH, you have to see the one from Tampere, Finland. The one with the fireworks. It's about The Big Bang and evolution. She does some animal growling in that one. But, don't let the time counter scare you. It is worth the ride and in so many ways, lives up to the title. Watch all the way to the end.
Floor's performance, as well as Nightwish's overall performance, at Wacken 2013 is hands down the greatest live performance I've ever had the pleasure to witness.

When Floor taught voice, one of her students started a prog metal band called Scardust along with an all metal choir called the Hellscore. They have more of a musical metal feel with some great musicianship. I found this group about 10 months ago or so, and i was lucky enough to have seen the first song by them i have ever heard, Ghost love score" and have floor sing it. Hooked ever since. I love her, i love the band.

Nightwish's songs are often deep in topics like nature, evolution, technology, science, and the impacts of humans on these things and vice versa - plus songs of the human mind.
The composer (Tuomas, keyboard) are considered as the modern Mozart, or Metal Mozart as he is called.
Floor is the best singer in the universe, and you have still only scratched the surface of her capabilities. Floor is educated on the Dutch Rock Academy (4 years), plus 1 opera and 1 musical year. But she has never stopped learning and evolving, in fact she creates her own voice techniques - and breath techniques as well, while some of the thing she does are impossible - but not for Floor - a total voice nerd.
And her stage performance and crowd control!!!
I think we will take the other band members one by one, when you realize how great they all are.
I suggest you stick to the Wacken 2013 concert for some more songs - you could look up the setlist and just pick one, all great and none are alike.
At the Wacken 2013 concert, Floor had only been with Nightwish in 10 month replacing Anette in the middle of a world tour. Floor was at her sister's wedding, (Floor had been ill for 18 month, not been performing at all) - she the call, jumped on a plane from the Netherlands to US, and learned the setlist in 48 hours, before she enter the stage for the first time in 18 month... (the documentary "Learn the setlist in 48 hour" are describing this). 10 month later were close to end of the world tour - at Wacken - and a few month later, Floor (and Troy) were officially announced as permanent members of Nightwish.
At Wacken Floor was singing old songs not written to her voice - but she made them her own.
In Wembley and Tampere 2015, most of the songs are written to Floor's voice.
On Decades Tour, Buenos Aires 2018 it is a mix of old and new.
And the new album Human Nature are written specifically to Floor's incredible capabilities, and here she performs completely awesome, while Tuomas really managed to challenge Floor, which she loves because it is the only way the evolve.

How can that be from a replacement vocalist almost unknown from the crowd of 82 K? Well, She was not only performing the best show of her life to capture them for good,... but she was also giving the final audition to her bandmates,...and yess she got the job, hands down Indeed !
For the next song, from the same show try Romanticide or Everdream or Wish I was an Angel.
