The music really elevated this film. And this was a wonderful video - great editing.

Even though I must say I enjoyed the movie much more than the book, what I did love about both...IS the fact a kiss was never shared between Vermeer and Griet. I loved that because from an artistic view point I can relate to the strange relationship between artist and muse. One that is altogether intimate, yet platonic. For me it was a very realistic portrayal of this. However Griet not being an artist, was beginning to love him in a romantic sense even though his feeling were not the same.

Thank you for sharing this video with everyone. It is "still" one of my favorites from Collins Firth. The subtleties in how they expressed themselves seemed so true to life. After all - they were busy trying to survive during the 1700. I hate the way they threw garbage out the front and still got water from a near by section of the waterway? It grossed me out. When we fantasize about this time or earlier we forget bathrooms were not available and out houses were used and other forms. Nothing like living in the 21st Century.

Great video though, I especially love how you integrated scenes of her and Vermeer along the 'love' scene with Pieter...because that summed up my thoughts exactly about that scene both in the book and the movie: she didn't really love Pieter (at least not truly at that stage) but indulged in it with the idea it was Vermeer loving her.

That is Princess Pareey, and me and my soul for Cillian Murphy aka Joe Pastnernak we licked belts and went down on it and also a blonde woman nowadays and a princess who looks like she always used water and soap on the hair and body in a stilt, she might want to do this in brighton and or in europe, but wont use it normally shampoo till it might be 1712 ad.

Who gave her the earrings in the end and why ?

    • @badassskelton

Louise Merriman In the movie, she just gets them by messenger & no real explanation is given. Like they want you to believe it was Vermeer. In the book, it was his wife. A very awkward scene where she delivered the earrings because her husband had bequeathed them to Griet in his will. Even though they belonged to his wife.

It was to settle an account with Pieters family. All contact ceased with the butcher at the market once Griet married the son even though money was owing.

The answers below are not always correct. Its explained in the book. When Vermeer died, his wife delivered them to Griet because Vermeers’ wish was they belonged to Griet because of their special ‘friendship’.
