Personally I am kind of disappointed that they are not planning to add anything at all other than better graphics... I mean, it's the gameplay that matters, not the visuals. I would also love a better approach to the story because ff12 is kind of lacking in that department. Anyway, I guess this remake will allow more players to experience the job system and this boss battle, so it was a good choice made by square.

Anyway, you are correct in that no remake does that, I just wanted to say that there are a lot of other things to fix instead of the graphics. Hey man! I have met you before in gamefaqs (don't know if you remember me, but I was surprised seeing you posted under my video). Indeed, wither is extremely overpowered, but honestly I don't even think it's possible to do the same thing without it (unless you get extremely lucky...). Before I made this video, I had tried it with the same party, and I (surprisingly) got to the point where only a critical Gabranth and a sleeping Zargabaath were alive. Guess what? Gabranth slaughtered my main AND my backup party all by himself! At that point, I don't think it is possible to survive the critical Gabranth without reverse or wither, but maybe I will try it again sometime. It would be one hell of a battle. Thanks for the input man!
Judge Gabranth I do remember you! And it's definitely possible, though it's probably a good idea to use more than just 3 characters, and make use of the fact that you can revive/heal reserve party members. Gabranth should be killable simply by continuously healing or reviving, he shouldn't be able to kill you unless he gets off a supercombo. Alternatively you can Expose him a lot before even getting him to Enrage, then it should be easy to finish him off quickly enough. It helps to silence Zargabaath early, since it prevents him from casting Bravery and Berserk for the rest of the fight. And the Blood Sword A is actually very useful since with it you can (repeatedly) confuse Bergan and Drace with just one simple attack. They usually get knocked out of it pretty fast though so it's a bit of a pain reapplying the status constantly.
I know zargabaath can be silenced, but I wasnt aware of it when I made this video... Yes, that would make the battle easier. Also expose is a good idea (I had thought of it too, but I was too tired to go through the same process again...). As for Gabranth, he killed BOTH of my parties (the exact ones you see here) all by himself... without reverse he may be a pain in the ass. The expose trick seems like the best choice for me (as knocking out the first 3 is relatively easy without wither, since I have done it), however if zargabaath awakes even for a moment after enrage, you are screwed... Perhaps using a berserked uhlan after driving away Gabranth from Zargabaath could deal serious damage quick, minimizing the damage you take and preventing Zargabaath from waking in time... although a supercombo from gabri could screw the plan up XD Will try it though, thanks
Judge Gabranth Personally I never actually had much of a problem against Gabranth & Zargabaath. Either you were extremely unlucky or I just play a lot more defense-focused than you do =P I wouldn't worry too much about Gabranth getting healed after Enrage. It does make him attack a lot faster but he only does his supercombos when he's at low HP (as per usual) so it's still pretty simple to outheal.
Karifean I really don't know... You can see my parties in the video, I had a WM in the first and a monk in the second and he still screwed me up... Anyway, I might have exaggerated it in my mind because it's been a while since that one fight... I will let you know once I try it again! Thanks once again
Personally I believe the WM/machinist/uhlan party is the optimal choice for this battle. The reason is that uhlans are the best plain damage dealers. Knights are overall better, but when you only want someone to attack, uhlans beat everyone else. Samurais are not an option, considering that you need cameo belt and that screws up their genji gloves; also without critical hp/infuse/decoy setup, they are not that great, and such setups are nearly impossible in this battle. WM is necessary for obvious reasons (since I have a dedicated attacker, I need a dedicated healer) and the machinist is nice because they don't need cameo belt, they have a nice supply of hp, auto-bravery, long range which works well against the judges, and of course item lores for support and nihopalaoa tricks.
Oddly enough what i've read multiple times and been told is that Machinist is weak and not worth using. Apparently more so on Balthier due to some extra long animation or something.
The slowdown indeed exists, but I like a machinist Balthier for story reasons. It's not important though; if you calculate it Balthier shoots 24 times at the same time that Vaan would shoot 25 or something like that. As for machinists being weak... thing is, guns do a certain amount of damage regardless of strength/level, so they become weak in the very end of the game. However, machinists need no cameo belt, which allows me to switch between ribbon/bubble belt and nihopalaoa easier. The fact that they do less damage doesn't matter much, because I hardly used Balthier for attacking until the end of the fight.
i see.. no i understand. i may use machinist balth as well. i personally love the overall design and would loathe to ruin it, but you also made it seem doable for me to play my way rather than follow specific builds.
Thanks man. IZJS allows for many builds and no setup is "bad", really. Only thing I would always recommend is having a white mage. They allow for lots of strategies that you couldn't do without them. You see, even machinists who seem to suck in the endgame become very useful against enemies who dodge or parry often, like the judges.

In this specific video you can see the jobs I picked in the menu. Other than those, I like Vaan as archer, Ashe as samurai and Basch as time mage. In general, it doesn't really matter who you give each job. Some jobs, such as samurai (bushi) had best be given to the female characters because of their innate cure. However, I once went with Basch as samurai and he was fine, I just had to use mystic armor instead of genji endgame. Thanks a lot for the feedback!
The judges are overpowered as hell in stage 100, each one got 160k -200k+ hp and hit like a truck, and their A.I is very good, they will use healing spells on you if you have reverse
Basically the thing that makes this fight hard is how well they worked together basically : -Judge Ghis fuck you up by inflicting a lot of statut effect and magical (fortunatly he is the one that has the less HP and he should be taken down ASAP) -Judge Drace and Zargabath are support they can heal the other and give them buff such as putting Bergan in Berserk -Judge Gabranth and Bergan are they Damage Dealer and they can destroy you really fast This fight has basically no room for error just one mistake and they will just completly destroy you.
What the others said; One mistake and you're done. Definitely the hardest final fantasy battle I've ever played. Even penance seems mildly easy after these guys.
Depends of people for me he is hard only if you do the Extreme Penance Challenge I had more trouble fighting 3 Dark Magus at once than fighting Penance personnaly.
As far as I know, it is nearly impossible to win this battle without nihopalaoa. Reason is, you need the disease status, and that's the only way to inflict it. The judges throw elixirs constantly at one another and their HP ranges from 120000 (Ghis) to 360000 (Bergan). How exactly do you plan to beat them up before they use elixirs? Maybe it's doable with Ghis, but Drace is kind of a pain to kill without disease (and not using dark energy/zodiark, because that would beat the purpose of the video). Also you would need a black/red mage to inflict sleep to Zargabaath, because killing Gabranth with an awake Zargabaath is impossible, unless you can somehow deal 100,000 damage faster than Zargabaath uses an elixir (again without zodiark and dark energy). Also, considering the sleep spell's miss rate, you are gonna have a reaaally hard time doing that. If you have some strategy that doesn't use niho I would gladly hear it. EDIT: I forgot that a kind of meteorite inflicts disease, but finding such items requires extensive grinding and kind of feels like more of a cheat to me than good old nihopalaoa. After all, don't forget that niho consumes your accessory slot (precious ribbon/bubble belt), while meteorites only take a single turn. Anyway that's just my opinion.
Judge Gabranth ive beaten every ff game on active EXCEPT this one fight. Youre pretty much playing on super easy mode xD. there is no challenge in what ur doing now bcuz u have plenty of time to think. the game freezes for you xD
You are pretty crazy if you think there's no challenge in this fight... And I am not a fan of active mode. I didn't use wait mode to make it easier. I just never use active in any RPG game simply because I don't like it. Plus you can pause the game to think on active mode, too. RPGs are supposed to be about strategy, like chess. It's not an action game, like dissidia ff is. Anyway, to each his own my friend :)

You used the Nihopaloa, that is an overpowered item, since it enabled you to trivialize parts of the encounter as surely as Seitengrat.
